- Recorded from 1130 to 1230 or so from tracks 18-20. Crew of train 2050, the 1214 departure to Ronkonkoma took issue with my filming and called me into the PD lol. Had a pleasant conversation with the responding officers and went on my merry way. Enjoy =)

For some agencies, it used to be illegal for a few years in the early 2000's because terrorism, but most RR's and Metro's realized how stupid it was and got rid of the rules concerning videotaping.
Conductors like her (3:48) are why I retired from making bus/railfanning videos for TH-cam many years ago. Too much drama, trouble, and risk...couldn't take it anymore.
Facts and some of them have problems of people train watching n shit

Yeah don't listen to people who try to stop you from filming. You're in a public place, so you have that right to film. The only times when you can't film in public are if there's copyright material or if you're causing a distraction to a staff or something lol. Keep it up and keep filming.

Yes he can, it’s perfectly legal to film in public places on MTA property. He has thousands of the same videos on TH-cam and you see millions of others on TH-cam and on any other social media platforms
In my country in Japan, you can film things like trains without anyone scolding you. There videos on youtube of japanese trainfan videos and most of the time the conductors look at the filmer but they just go on about their day. But here it seems like they are strict.
That’s because no terrist attack happened there, in NYC at approximately 9/11/2001 twin towers hit and mta workers still to this day tell people and the occasional foamer you can’t record..

While I agree with the comments that say there's nothing wrong with recording trains, I think some people could take it the wrong way, not like "You recording me is invading my privacy" but more or less that you'll look a little suspicious recording a train. Like the MTA says, "If you see something, say something." That is my concern with recording trains.

3rd Rail Arcing, occurs when there's large amount of friction between the third rail and the part of the train that feeds in electricity. Its normal for all the trains, including the normal subways also.
