I never released until recently that the m3s were kept in terrible condition. I mean look at the beginning of the video where you can see the new MTA logo plastered over the old logo on the side of the train. Some cars have blue stripes and some don’t. And they look dirty.
yes a new platform as when east side access is done the Brooklyn branch is gonna get cut back to a shuttle running between Jamaica and Atlantic terminal.
Hi Fan Railer!! I have to ask you because I'm seeing alot of M3 rail cars from the 80's and 90's, are they going to retire now that the M9's are coming into passenger service or are they going to keep them in service? Please message me back and have a wonderful day my friend!! Happy Railfanning!!
While I like the trains. Goddamn they make a lot of noice. Why is the track in such horrible condition. All those twists and turns. Dozens of switches. How hard can it be to smooth it out a little bit. Those tracks look like they were laid in the 60s and never had an overhaul
They might have been, but this station is right next to an LIRR yard and it’s a pretty big station so they probably have the switches to make the quad tracked mainline turn into the 9 tracks in the station and into the other tracks to the yard. It’s also probably pretty old track.
2:26 3 trains heading out of Jamaica simultaneously in the same direction
and then 8:40?

The blue stripe actually denotes cars that were paid for by the Port Authority of NY & NJ, if I'm not mistaken.
a ton of M3s!
Including 9871! 10:24
Awesome video.
Howd'ya get so many horn shows? I barely get any from LIRR engineers these days...
New M9 is going on service tomorrow 9/11/19
Are they making on the south side of Jamaica station?
