      Yo Dean, I'm thinking of getting an E90 325i N52. 2 questions please, 1= Would you recommend this car as the 330 is a little more money right now! And 2 would you do maintenance work if I need it? Obviously I will try some things on the car but if I need something done more complex I may need a engineer :-) I'm in Herts UK.

      @@markrayes2973 rod bearing is only one issue these engines have there is a few more. Throttle actuators is another common problem. They fail more than rod bearings. Look into it and there is a few more issues other than the bearings and actuators. The engine is a f1 inspired engine so reliability isn't the best requires maintenance regularly. But I love the engine myself. I have a e60 and as much as it pisses me off sometimes it always puts a smile on my face when it is working. Love that v10 and its sound

      Yes they can, the car will record when, where and what the car was doing when the fuse stopped working!! (At least on the newer cars, especially with GPS) an army buddy of mine totally wiped and voided his warranty doing something like this on his 2018/2019 M5 . BMW told him ‘It went out at his house,…while his car was parked… and not moving… meaning they know he did it!! They even took pictures of the readout and made sure they sent copies to their legal department’ (all his words) So he traded it to someone else for a just out of warranty 540 then flipped that car for a rare Honda

    Does the replacement of the relay apply only to SMG transmission? I have a 2011 F10 528i, and sometimes at very low speed while slowing down, it suddenly down-shifts and it feels like a kick in the arse. It can startle you if you don't know about it. Wanted to find out if it's maybe a relay problem and not something else. I heard from one mechanic that many other models of BMW with that transmission experience the same issue. Some spent $$$ on fluid and filter replacement, only for the issue to come back. He never mentioned anything about a relay.

  • @Martin-cc5xn
    @Martin-cc5xn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Potentially dangerous, most production cars are fitted with tyres that are rated within the speed tolerances of the restricted cars speed, more velocity = more friction, more heat, more centrifugal force, more chance of high speed blowout or delamination. Not something you want to be dealing with on a public road closing in at 200mph. Check tyre specs beforehand.

    I have a 2010 BMW X6 V8, to date at 82,000km I haven’t had any issues with the engine although I must say the engine is consuming some oil, the mechanic at BMW told me not to worry because the engine is a high performance engine, what’s your opinion about the engine of my car, is it time to sell and move on, any advice will be warmly welcomed.

    • @sirkrow7118
      @sirkrow7118 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Engines, especially v8s, can burn oil over time. Unless it’s burning a significant amount of oil, it’s nothing to worry about. In other words, topping it off every few weeks is ok, but if your having to dump half or a quarter of a bottle every week, then it’s time to consider selling, or at least having it looked at.

    • @blevinsharrye30

      I recomend selling it before the cylinoids go out. My dad has owned 2 v8 bmws I have worked on them. One was a e90 m3 and the other was a x5 twin turbo 4.4l v8 and man did the x5 have issues. I would recommend selling. That being said the e90 m3 was a great naturally aspirated 4 liter v8 and it was bulletproof and didn’t really have any issues when he had ownership. But they are very expensive when things go wrong for any bmw but especially the v8 and v10s. I have a e91 328i wagon it’s xdrive and I love it. I haven’t had any issues with my car but it’s an in-line 6 and naturally aspirated so it doesn’t require that much work

    My question is, after you remove that 10 amp fuse (speed limiter), do you have to reprogram cpu or something after that’s done??? if you don’t wouldn’t it throw everything off? Please let us know, oopsi forgot to add I’m in the US and I know sometimes the BMW spec and such are different for Euro vs US, does that make a difference? Would US owners have to do extra? But mainly my question is on a US spec Bimmer, do you have to reprogram after you pull the limiter fuse? And will removing the limiter, affect and diminish low-end acceleration rates? Obviously this mod will INCREASE high end power (top speed) but sometimes when you tune a car for top speed you sacrifice low-end power. Will the same hold true in this case? Thank you for sharing this and reading my comment🌹

    Very cool video ! - Thanks for the info on disabling the top speed limiter on BMW's ....Would you by any chance happen to know how to fully disable the auto gearbox limp mode in the older E39's ??
    I have an V reg 1999 E39 540i auto that keeps on going into "Trans Failsafe Prog" mode every time the car warms up, the gearbox feels OK and the car drives smoothly until it gets warm, Then I feel a gentle thump followed by a gong and "Trans Failsafe Prog" on the dash and the car is then very heavy to move forward from a standing start because the gearbox is locked up in 4th or 5th gear.
    Turning the ignition on and off gets rid of the fail safe for a few moments and then it comes right back again ! making the car no fun to drive :/
    I've checked everything and changed the battery 3 times and its still the same story, I think that there might be a break somewhere in the wiring harness that is causing the fault. The strange thing is there are no codes stored on the TCU when I scan it with the scanner/code reader which is very weird.
    This problem only started happening when I had to reverse back and fourth to shunt the car out of a tight parking place and its been like this ever since. I did get underneath the car and check all the wiring connectors around the transmission and engine and everything seems to be in place and nice and tight.
    If there is any way to REMOVE or DISABLE the Trans Failsafe function from the car so that no matter what !, the car just runs in the main gearbox program and does not go into "trans failsafe prog" PLEASE help me !. as this problem is now driving me bonkers ! :(
    Thanks a million bro ! ;)

      Its not a matter of removing limp mode. Something is wrong causing it to do that. Either the trans is messed up or it could be anything from a bad alternator to a maf...

    Hello Dean,
    Have you got any idea about the Central Locking actuator "blowing" fault on the E90/92?
    I took it into the dealer for the recall they changed the driver door actuator and the fuel cap actuator at the main dealer, they didn't fix the problem it blew 2 weeks later AGAIN and then refused to fix it/didn't know how had a row and they ended up ACTUALLY TAKING THE COURTESY CAR AWAY WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE! AND DELIVERING MY car back (Which I've had from BRAND NEW! ONLY DONE 57Kmiles!) So got a car sitting there no central locking again only driver's door and fuel cap actuator blown again! They did the recall on the heater aswell and the main power lead and since then the heater makes a noise aswell! This was "SYTNER" BMW in CHIGWELL Essex! ABSOLUTE COWBOYS!
    Can you advise what you would do! And also how to fix it!? It's a BMW 320d 6Speed Manual 07 plate with the M47 lump so pre-cam chain problem engine! Although my Turbo BLEW at 50k miles!! To add insult to injury 6 months before this DRAMA! WHICH cost me a pretty penny to upgrade to a solid billet ceramic coated hybrid turbo and have fitted(and no I didn't trust BMW to do it!) Got a "proper mechanic" to do it! Not someone pushing buttons on a computer and when "computer says no" they deliver your car back with the unresolved fault and their own shoddy work STILL CLEARLY apparent/Blown and not fixed just TWO WEEKS LATER!!
    Ps. Sorry for the rant pisses me off yon pay over 30k for a car and regardless if age at just 50k it needs new turbo and ventral locking and when they do that and the recall the cause more problems than it went in with and REFUSE to rectify their failure to fix the issue and their faulty shoddy workmanship!
    Cheers in advance mate!

    To cut condensation in the box, put in the silica gel bags you get in everything these days in the spaces, if you take it apart ever, put them in the oven for 5 mins to dry out absorbed moisture, replace them, job fixed.

    Hi
    I have a 16 plate, 435d gran coupe.
    The box with the ecu/relays in is easy to see and get too in it however when taking the cover off and looking inside, I can see the ecu etc and relays however there is not a single fuse, especially a 10amp one plugged in, anywhere within the box that I can see other than those grey, relay type plugs that you can see have 5 fuses inside.
    So…….quoting the video…. Does this work on a f36 4 series or not?
    I’ve heard that with these, the only way of removing the top speed limiter is by mapping/flashing the ecu??
    Can you or anyone let me know please?
