    Mixing low-end can be TOUGH, but Getting a tight low end mix is ESSENTIAL for ending up with a dance floor banger, and these 12 Steps will help you get a PERFECT low end mix (kick and bass) every time you use them - regardless of track or genre.
    If you’ve ever wondered “how do I mix low end?”, this technique is what I’ve developed to help me over the course of producing thousands of tracks and mixes. If your ears struggle to focus on the low end (as mine do), these techniques will help you simplify mixing your kick and bass and break it down into a step-by-step process WITHOUT the need to just “trust your ears” 🤦‍♂️.

    After I learned the bass decay tuning to release energy the tracks got much better

    • @Gnurklesquimp2
      @Gnurklesquimp2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's easy to overdo it sometimes, but after a while it gets a lot better.
      My speaker port was broken for a long time so I made music on some terrible speakers, I went back to check everything I made on that, and the kick adsr was by far the biggest overal issue. It made me realize something, though... It can be worth it to keep more decay/sustain/release on other frequencies, depending on the kind of kick and track.
      In most house kicks etc. it's mostly just the lows that last long anyway, but for hiphop, for example, it can be a way to keep some of the character of those kicks even in tracks where they shouldn't dominate the low end.
      Of course, it's also common to layer sounds with multiple sources, a real kick drum's ~300hz + with some nice sustain over a tight bassy kick is great for mixing in an organic sound, for example. Noise can also be great, as usual!

    • @nebukad1833
      @nebukad1833 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing here. I agree to kick adsr. I‘m using good headphones + sound Id reference plugin to finally hear the details, which was impossible before in my untreated room and monitors.

    Usually I just take bass sounds and kick sounds and cut between 150 to 200hz out of them and cut a little bit of the high mids from other sounds like strings (the high pitched aliasing just makes it sound worse) so my vocals can come through without interference

    I was wondering how to display two SPAN at the same time. To do this, go to the preferences and set the following "multiple plugin windows" AN. Hide plugin window OFF. And open plugin window ON. Then it works.

    @EDMTips
    At 9:50 you open two SPANs.
    If you are able to route 2 Tracks into the same SPAN you can benefit from its "multi-channel analysis":
    "SPAN supports multi-channel analysis, and can be set to display spectrums from two different channels or channel groups at the same time. Spectrum's color can be chosen to taste."
    This might come handy.

    nice video ! how do you sustain that balance through out your own mastering process ? if you put a compressor on the master, the volume relation of kick and bass is going to change right ?

    • @SpikeColgate
      @SpikeColgate 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Compressor on master bus should always generally not working too hard and not effect an already reasonably balanced track too much. And if you've balanced it well, then high passing the compressor to leave the bass alone is worth doing too.
