Tony Geary is such a commited actor. He never wasted a scene. There was not a second that you dont believe that he is completely in love and obsessed with Laura. One of the best love stories of all times.

How did the writers forget this? Laura was his whole world. She wasn't someone who was tying him down and driving him to alcoholism. So frustrating.
If the writers did write that, it was ridiculous and doesn't fit!
Those two were so deeply in love, that anything else is just wrong!!!

The way Luke stares at Laura before he sees her hand with no ring . . . how he says, “We’ve got all night and we’re gonna need it,” it just gives me a thrill like nothing else! I see a little tongue action too, Luke😉

I know Anthony Geary was such an amazing actor and Genie Francis was a master of her craft.
This is why I love Susie, for taking the the time out to post some of the best scenes ever seen, from silent films to now,with some of the best cast and crew,cameraman, writers etc. And the above scenes ,the Lovers on the Run storyline,the controversial scenes and all the rest ,together Tony Geary and Genie Francis,were Sensational with their chemistry and performances,Equal to Hollywood pairings of the Golden era and they did it, in the strangest era to do it. This is beautiful artistry

Many people used to put it down but I always thought daytime drama actors worked so much harder and deserved way more credit.
Tony & Genie sure gave us their Best, we still love watching them forty yrs later.

@@christineadams1284 I'm still thankful to Sussezq for posting this cool stuff often better than GH today ,though I like most of the actors on the show especially Maura West Maurice Bernard James Patrick Stewart etc,William Devy who they stupidly got rid of I like them all ,but the storylines are subpar compared to when producer Gloria Monty had control .-And you're right soap actors are actors and should be respected the genre is almost like stage acting combined with 1920's Silent acting even mime style with the overly dramatic looks ,it's art,but still just as cool as movie and nightime tv and what makes it unique.
Oh, God it took long enough. Only have watched it a million times and never get tired.

I loooove the flirtation theme from this era. That saucy little brass and the cheeky piano key flutters. Love that!!! Luke and Laura were so wonderful and so much fun in Beecher’s Corners hehe naturalistic and having sooo much fun with all the scenarios. Such a good chapter of their saga!

I never tire of watching these two. Their magic is still alive and well after all these years. Guza tried to destroy them but Luke and Laura fans wouldn't let him ruin their beloved characters, I only hope the new writers can get Genie Francis back and once again the best love story in Daytime can rise again. Luke and Laura Forever!!
Although his relationship with the character he helped create is bitter sweet. At least TG admits this is one of his favorite storylines.
Genie and Tony were young at that time and I’m sure there were lots of fun days at GH during that era, probably a lot of wilds times too. Kin Shriner confirmed that too. Said they were the best of times at GH when everyone hung out after work, parties etc etc. Must have been great times !

girl 41 years later and for others more than that and we're still fanning ourselves and swooning over these epic scenes.
And.... no body ever could ever! I never saw two people who I my opinion could kiss the way they did and not convince me that those kisses where not the real McCoy ! They looked at each like if they did not kiss right off they would just die..... I will always disrespect the writers for that always. TG/Luke & GF/ his Laura where and always will be the best of the best where it came to showing us GH fans how it was done back then. I for one will miss them forevermore. Silver screen be damn not anybody or actor could ever convince me that no body can ever love or kiss the way in which they did on any soap opera ever on any given day TV or the silver screen. .... JMVHO. Rosie out......But never silent.

I was saying I wasn't into soaps until I saw Anthony Geary and I was hooked. Seeing the full story now blows me away.

From the comments, its obvious that some didn't get the meaning of the silverware at first. Genie's little finger blocked her ring finger so the audience couldn't see that the ring was gone. That confused me too, 43 years ago. But Luke's reaction said it all.

I am hoping they will do something BIG like that for the 60th.

You love Ms. Francis and Mr. Geary and you are projecting! ;-) I didn't do a darn thing. They left their hearts and souls on the table EVERY time they performed for us. It is an incredible gift that nobody should be denied because of their age... and for those of us who were lucky enough to see it the first time...we need this reminder.. cause the truth is if we couldn't see it all again, and share it together, I'm not sure we would believe it was even true...it's so amazing!!!
Everyone should have a Mrs. Whittaker in their lives! Anyway, This takes me back to a better time. Was a big L&L fan and so glad to see them together again some 34 yrs later.

Here's a tidbit. Luke asks Laura "Are you sure?" That is the Barry White song they played after the kiss where she slapped Luke and told him she was going home to her husband. Later, she and Scotty danced to that song (instrumental) while she flashed back to that kiss. That music haunted me until I found it on you tube.

Just do what I do. Ignore GH and pretend that anything that's happened to destroy L&L never did. Which is how I see it. If it's out of character, regardless of what they've written, it hasn't happened.

Of course they needed the story line. IF this were a realistic situation, there is no way i would agree to tell everyone that they were together upon coming home. Waiting a few days or week until it calmed down a little THEN tell their families first. Announcing it like that was bound to go awry. But the story and the SDE was the BEST!!!!

I never stop being amazed about how fantastically wonderful ALL of the character were back then... all originals, impeccably written and acted to perfection. We really were very lucky to have this level of entertainment on a daily basis!

There is no comparison between this and anything currently on TV. The attention to detail, and as you said the crafts of acting, writing, directing... no nothing like that being produced now. They sacrifice that attention to detail to increase their profit margin. IT's sad.

I did a round the world online search, to see who comes close, Searched long and hard ,Maybe Clive Owens ? because the British have Impeccable training. But Mr Owens has to get raunchy with a gal, to even touch Anthony Geary,who's crazy sexy, the way he kisses this girl in their romantic scenes

If you compare Tony Geary and Genie Francis,their work shows respect for their craft, to the young actors on Gh today,I don't even know their names,they suck in comparison. They try to dress those kids today, as though their on the beach and put them in ridiculous scenarios ,that their acting isn't good enough to mask, And their so boring ! With 0 chemistry,it's embarrassing for the show. Watch playlist 134/135 or better yet, the controversial scene and compare it to the GH scenes today
