I am a newcomer to these clips…never watched gh before. I came across these by accident and am so grateful I did. First of all, the person who put all these together has done a wonderful job. Secondly, I am 59 years old and this is the most sensuous steamy unbelievably realistic love scene I have ever seen. On tv or big screen. No filthy talk, no groping. Just pure sensuality!!! And lastly I’d like to say that I would have given in to this man about 100 clips ago🔥

Well..she had just turned 18..just graduated high school. Tony was 32 yrs old. I saw an interview..where Genie answered that question by saying that..Tony was almost parental or big brother-like to her..in real life. Tony responded that he did feel like a protective big brother towards Genie. I guess that would explain their real life relationship.

@@janetmyles8764 Well..acting and real life are completely different things. My son and my daughter were in their high school musical together and they had to play boyfriend & girlfriend in the play. They didn't have to kiss (thank God)..but they did have to hold hands and appear to be in love. Acting is acting..and the real life relationships can be very different from what you are seeing on the stage or screen.

I watch this story line and cannot believe that Genie Francis was only 17 years old. How unbelievably talented, and way too wise beyond her years.
I have said it before: TG and GF had the kind of chemistry that I have not seen before or since this episode aired. On the small or big screen.
What was remarkable is that they kept this "seduction" thing going on for nearly a year and never missed a beat. The writing, acting, pacing, direction - it was ALL there. The left handed boy story was great but the early L&L seduction was brilliant.
Yes, and they don't write character driven drama like this anymore. They are so obsessed with LAME plots current soaps are missing this.. and this is what made them so good!

Laura is just beautiful in every way conceivable! The hair, face, complexion...…...her eyes, eye brows, lips, teeth. ALL OF IT! She was just beautiful and of course, she still is. The chemistry here was like nothing I've ever seen. I have never seen anything before or sense. I loved watching them in 78 and on. What a wonderful couple. I got into L&L big time! LOL!
Here's how potently hot this scene is: the first time I found it on TH-cam I saw it as a stand alone and without it being in context of the full, complete storyline. And It was sizzling! Just like I remembered it all those years ago as elementary schooler. Now in proper context, watching it as an adult, it's a scorcher. The chemistry between TG and GF is palpable. It's so easy to see why GH became such a phenomenon, L&L such an iconic, supercouple. Classic L&L scene!
How gorgeous were these two? Social comments aside, I don't know who made who look better in this scene.
We all found these two irresistible back then. Because their story was such a slow burn, we couldn't wait for the next day!

No one can take from Luke and Laura fans what they feel for the characters. Laura is able to forgive Luke and she already cared for him before that night. That is why she was able to forgive him. It isn't as if she fell in love with some horrible monster after the fact. If others can't forgive Luke or understand that Laura had feelings for him long before that night, don't watch them together.

The age difference between the actors themselves (a minor and an adult) were too much, but in soap operas it can be almost any age difference (as long as it's not a child/teen having that kind of relationship with an adult.)
Fifteen years is too much a gap between a minor and an adult, but (17 verses 32) but once you're over 21 verses 36 it's not so much except for life's experiences. And once you're 58 and 73 the difference is less mote; and 73 verses 88 you're "twins separated at birth from different mothers."

On the surface this is a simple seduction. Cheaply, Laura just cheated on Scott. But it's SO much more than that. Laura is 18 and loaded with societal expectations and judgements...she married a boy who would ground her in respectability but leaves her (and us) flat. Then she meets a ferral man that turns her inside out. She has no idea what this is, how to handle it, what to do... And all of that shows on Genie's face. What a performance!
Luke was on fire here! Totally irresistible. This scene has replays on replays and still women are catching up to it every day. There's not a woman alive that wouldn't cave here. It's on par with any bodice-ripper romance novel out there. Bravo Tony!
Every time I watch this I notice something new. Theses can be written in Media Studies classes, Acting classes, writing classes, for Years about this relationship and it's unfolding. Just brilliant!

Many of us have our own memories and reflect on past lovers, crazy passion when life was so carefree. We love, seeing love. AG and GF captured a beautiful love, adoring each other, fighting, making up, forgiving and that sarcastic humor and they did it fully clothed. Not an easy task. Their chemistry is outstanding in these moments.

Gosh Luke had Laura right where he wanted her and he stopped. That was just plain torture I think Laura was more mad at the fact that Luke stopped what was happening. Then she tried to play it off like she was really mad about the door being locked.
Remember Luke was just trying to get Laura to admit to her love for him. Stopping was cruel, I agree, but understandable as Luke wanted to make a point and made it, so his mission was over and he ended it.
@2006bbbb1 I don't think it was realistic that Luke stopped kissing her so quickly though. Luke has been waiting/wanting this moment for so long!! He thought he could never have her, now she wants him desperately. He's madly in love with her and to finally have her reciprocate! I think he would have been incapable of stopping that quick. Impossible. If I directed this scene I would have had them kiss longer after her admission...

I've been binge-watching since last week. Just caught up to late 1981. Scotty has returned and destroyed the divorce decree. I know what's coming down the road. And I am dreading IT. So, I paused where I was at and came back to watch this clip again to cheer myself up.
I don't understand why GH hasn't released DVDs or set up online streaming at Netflix or HULU with all the L+L scenes? Don't they understand they'd make a fortune? Sigh...maybe one day...

The problem here wasn't just the retcon. From the beginning, even when they *were* calling it rape, the GH writers treated it as an act of thwarted desire. But rape has NOTHING to do with desire, or even plain old lust. Rape is an act of violence and hatred. That's why it was so *stupid* when Scott said he might rape Laura himself! No normal non-violent man who DOESN'T hate women is going to commit rape, no matter how horny he is. But the GH writers never seemed to get that, even from the start.
THIS “ACTING” IS FUCKING AMAZING AND I SWEAR THAT THEY WANTED ONE ANOTHER!!!! THERE IS NOOOOO WAY THAT THAT WAS JUST ACTING. NOOOOO WAY. It’s amazing wow exponential. Even now in 2020. When he says “BABYYYY” in any given scenario, he’s amazing.

I read somewhere that the ratings were awful and they were in danger of being cancelled until Tony Geary joined the show. The producers thought he was the reason the ratings skyrocketed but it was actually the chemistry between Luke and Laura that turned the show around. I believe it. They are the reason I started watching.
Also there are plenty of people who know what the initial intention was... Luke Spencer was supposed to die 13 weeks later in Laura's arms. Re-writes happen all of the time on soap operas... and the truth is MILLIONS of people would have accepted anything tptb manipulated to watch the amazing acting team of Geary and Francis for the years we were able.
For those of you following along with the discussion below. No not all LnL fans condone rape. Geesh. Not judging those of you who couldn't swallow it. Understand. But we see things from our own experiences and perspectives. Yes Luke was wrong, he was also emotionally dispondant and drunk.. off his game. Misinterpreting things. Laura was confusing. Her caring was not a license to anything, but rest assured there was serious miscommunicaton because of all of those factors. I appreciated the tale.
I suppose some could say it was Fluke that raped Laura. Although, I think that emotions are so complex that it is naive to judge what others do. I watched this in real time back in the day, in my early twenties and felt empathy for both sides, because the acting was so well done.
I get the moral argument, but more than anything I'd say most people didn't see the original (clearly) rape scene and the show retconned it. Tony stumbles over the word "seduction" here, I think to show his recognition that it was rape or to show us that Luke does indeed know it was rape but had a mission here and was just saying that at this moment.
I will never listen to Herb Alpert again the way that I used to. This episode is fucking mind blowing.

As someone who wasn't even born yet when this aired watching this is amazing! I watched plenty of soaps with my mom growing up but not general hospital. I'm obsessed with their story!
I remember watching this scene and it was a sizzler then and now. Genie Francis was so beautiful. The chemistry was on fire during this sailboat scene. Too bad GEnie Francis is not paired with Luke anymore. No one can replace these two in the chemistry dept.
