A new Highland Park 20" slab saw allows Kate to reveal the hidden treasures inside even larger rocks! In this lapidary video, she cuts the edge off a 28-pound piece of petrified wood, takes big slabs from a piece of Brazilian agate, cuts more Montana Moss Agates and slices a mystery rock. By chance, do you know anything about heat treatment of agate and jasper for flintnapping?
Do you know how hot they can go before crazing? Or what the minimum temperature would be to make it more brittle?
Hi, FF. Unfortunately, I don't. I know it's hotter than a standard oven, but might be able to be done in a fire. I think there's info online, if you feel like Googling.

5:09 On the right I see a phoenix flying right but a big bear or wolf has risen up so big as to block the path.
I did see a smaller phoenix on the left also.

Katy, was an exciting moment to see you all acquire the new saw. I am curious, however, as to what happened to the the previous saw. Was it formally retired? All of the slabs so amazing! The very last slab had yellow splotches on it. Was that calcite? Thank you for sharing your story. God bless.

Some very nice first cuts from the new saw. That piece from Brazil is especially nice. As for Spring, sadly, we appear to be in the same big weather boat as you (although I'm ~an eight-hour drive north of you)!

It sure could be - but I thought that was a seam agate?

Hi 👋 👋 👋 👋 👋 Katie haven't seen you in awhile glad your back. Hay in regards to the oil mist maybe put on a good mask just before you open the door or if you can afford it maybe invest in a hood affair of some kind to such up the mist so you won't hurt yourself. Just an idea 💡 hope you like and hope might be able to do something of that nature.

So nice to see what is inside these neat rocks. I am pretty sure your blue rock is blue apatite, not azurite, which is a brighter, more vibrant blue. I identified it for you when it was mixed with malachite and something else in one of your gem show videos.
