The best part about this video is that i love the idea, but here's the catch... i FINALLY have ALL the materials for a how-to video! lmao great video thank-you!!
great video, I will be trying this. Would it work if I cut one hole for the sand and just put my needle in the ball to let the air escape? Thanks Again
The tire repair kit doesn't work well in this case. When you fill the ball with sand, there will be dust all around the interior surface of the ball and that prevents the rubber stick to attach properly. I just tried with a basketball that I found and that had a little hole in it. I put 10 kg of sand in it, cleaned the exterior surface and then used the rubber sticks as showed in the video. The air comes out. A better solution is to remove the valve, put the sand in through its hole and then put the valve back. If the valve eventually leaks some air, it's a much easier job to fix the leak.
Theres an easier way. Get an inflation valve for a basketball/football. Insert into the balls valve to release pressure. Compress/squash the ball to remove as much air as you can. Fill up a bath or container where you can completely submerge the ball. Place the ball completely under the water and it will suck the water in until it equalizes. I filled my one until I got 5Kg, you will probably get around 7 Kg's (just over 15Lbs) if you filled completely. Works a treat and you can slam it all day.
Is there anyway to not have the sand slosh around? I made a 10lbs ball but the sand just sloshes from side to side. Didn't really think about it until I was finished.
I would have tried to use the filler hole with the little air attachment stuck through it as my second hole instead of having to punch and patch two holes.
Actually I filled 5kg in like 30 minutes or even less. I didn't used a facet or whatever it's called. Instead I pushed the ball where the hole is down forming a natural pit. Like a crater on the planet Mars or something. The speed is high and you can adjust the depth of the pit for the max speed. Works wonders.
I was going to leave a comment saying the same exact thing. 80% of DIY gym equipment is really pointless IMO when you can get a superior made product for the same exact price or a couple of dollars more. Not to mention the time it is going to take you. Time=money. Gym equipment companies buy materials in bulk so they get it dirt cheap and lots of it is made in China. When you go to the store to buy the materials you are not paying what they pay, you have to take the time to do it and you most likely don’t have all the special tools and equipment to make a sturdy piece of equipment that will last a lifetime. There are a few exceptions however, I made my own TRX suspension system for 15 dollars, which is much cheaper than the ones you see online and it also has 500lbs more a max capacity than the brand name trx system.. I’ve also made some really cheap but solid pull ups bars by simply anchoring in black iron pipe with elbows and flanges into a concrete wall
Well..if you watched the whole thing...not that you really needed to...but the whole point of the video is that with some patience you can make a homemade medicine ball for about 15 $, when one in a store would cost you around 50-60$...
Abisai Santiago Meh don't buy spalding basketballs..you can get their intermediate balls for 12 $ from big five or pretty much any sporting goods store..but I went with Champion Sports basketball. The rubber is heavy duty (perfect for what we're trying to make) and they cost 8.00 $ each. basketball.epicsports.com/prod/4783/champion-sports-heavy-duty-pro-rubber-basketballs.html
Abisai Santiago obviously, you won't go, buy a new basketball, then make a hole on it and fill it with sand. The ball should be any old and forgotten useless ball you can find at home or wherever, one that no longer would be useful for what it was designed, so it could be recycled as a Medicine Ball.
Thanks for taking the time to post this. Liked and shared.

great video, I will be trying this. Would it work if I cut one hole for the sand and just put my needle in the ball to let the air escape? Thanks Again
how did you make the small funnel?

If inflator stem is left in the ball, that might leave a good enough vent so you don't need to make two holes in the ball.
Why was the sand taking so long to go in, was the air in the ball affecting it?
can we get a link to the plans?
Nice video, tks. Do u know wat can i use to color or paint the basketball wen im done?
How well has the slam ball held up?
nice bro =)

Do you have trouble making the ball air tight? My ball keeps on leaking air no matter how many times I seal the hole.

You got a video of that?
good vid. you can buy the balls from a thrift store....a dollar or two maybe....and make your own with the materials he has shown.
what´s the thing you used to seal it called, i couldnt catch the name!
Shoe glue.
shoe goo
well the water didn't sucked in in the ball, even though I made the hole x2 times bigger. Had to dry the ball with a pump and fill it with sand.
will it bounce also
7:52 Me trying to kill a roach 😂
@johnnysneds = Does it leak?
7:51 lol
i was wondering what is the max weight possible slammer ball, i would like to make a 30lb one
deewrek99 u cant
why did you make 2 holes?
I like going in smaller holes too..
why did he make 2 holes , just stick a pump pin in it to let air out
Chill, Babe
i hope you don't have any neighbours under you
Couldn't you just buy a tether ball and fill it with play sand?
Wow, a 25 lb ball that's not the size of a beach ball, lol!
you can buy a medicine ball with the price you paid for this stuff
For the price of everything you buy here you can just buy a slam ball

@@anthonyzambarano3017 dumbbell are also cheaper by homemade with cement
Sledgehammer and a tire or tires and escrima sticks
Why not just buy one... with all the money you spent yoy could have gotten a pro medicine ball!

All that material is not 15 bucks smart person... the spalding bball alone is 25
