    READ THIS before buying!
    I made these today. They cost about $135 for the 3/4" pipe and $160 for the 1" pipe. I got everything at Home Depot, except the tennis balls, which I got at a tennis store ($10 for 8 regular balls). The pipe wrench was $16, but I'm going to return that once I'm done with it, so that's not included in the prices above. After feeling the 3/4" and the 1" pipe, I decided on the 1" pipe. If you have bigger hands, give the 1" pipe a shot and see how you like it.
    I don't know if the price of pipe has gone up 200% in the last 4 years or if they got their pipe off the black market, but Home Depot is about as cheap as it gets, as far as I know. Just wanted to let everyone know what they cost as of 2020. :)
    They work great and they will last forever if kept dry. I'm going to build another taller set for doing proper dips and rows. Enjoy, everyone!
    UPDATE 1/12/20: I decided to return it all to home depot. I found height and width-adjustable parallel bars on Amazon for $73 with free shipping, which support up to 330 pounds and also have much wider bars with padded grips (it's called the GoBeast Dip Stand). I found that even with the 1" bars that I bought, it was often too painful to use for more than a few reps. Happy dipping! :D

      Steel pipes are definitely expensive compared to other options unless their cost is really cheap where you live or if you get them used (many old buildings and houses throw them away when they are renovating the plumbing). A far less expensive option is to use 1 1/4" PVC pipe but you have to be sure its thickness (of the walls) is appropriate (here PVC pipe for sanitary purposes that will be buried in the ground is the thickest you can get). Just make sure that the upper portion, where your hands will be placed, isn't very long, for most of the dips exercises a 20" long upper section will be long enough to sit your hands comfortably.

    • @jalidkalid
      @jalidkalid 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don’t buy the pre cut pipes. Just grab a 10’ length (~$18) and have them (Home Depot) cut and thread the pieces you need.

    I just made a set of these. One mistake I made is getting rubber caps instead of tennis balls. The rubber caps aren't wide enough. So I will have to go get some tennis balls. Unfortunately my usual hardware store didn't have all the bits of pipe. So I went to Home Despot (pun intended) including the rubber caps I spent $89. So depending on where you go it can cost a bit more than the price given in the video. Also, my pipes had a nasty coating on them. I took it off using a copper scrub pad and sponge. I will probably be making a video about these soon. I will drop a link on here once the video is up.
    Thanks Buff Dudes and DIY Duke for this tutorial. My new parallette bars will help this fat grrrl become a BUFF grrrl. Not only that they save me money on the gym membership I am no longer getting. Thanks again! :)
