The new 2DS XL purpose was to use all the unused components in a cheap console that is not as ugly as the 2DS to sell out the stock of "new" CPU at a discount.
Scott… the cartridge flap is the best thing about the 2DS. Not accidentally pressing it, and it not falling out, and no dust aswell is amazing. The switch even had it.
How often do you accidentally press on the cartridge slot so hard it ejects? I can’t say I’ve ever had that issue in my 10 years of playing my 3ds. Not to mention having a cart in the slot prevents dust from getting in as well. The dust flap is just an extra annoyance when changing games
Other than the constantly exposed front-facing camera, it’s definitely the sleekest designed, they really nailed it the design with this one, moving all the components & cameras to the bottom makes it much nicer to hold, having the SD card more easily accessible is nice too, the dust cover is a no-brainer, I wish the 3ds had this design I do hate the glassy top screen though, I can’t touch it anywhere without getting finger-prints on it, so I always have to hold it by the very top of the screen to open-close it

And I love mine, I still use it on a weekly basis.
New 2DS XL was my first console. I'm not a kid, I just didn't have a console as a kid. It was the only console I could afford with my mid teens money that I saved up my pocket money to buy. I got Nintendo Switch later with actual earned money from a job.
Everybody was shiting on the switch because it had a 720p screen, the dock did not upscale to 4k and the performance of the console was weak. So, nintendo listened and hoped it worked while continuing to bank on the 3DS.
Power, yeah. Performance, on the other hand, was one of the best things about both consoles. My biggest criticism about the Switch is how if I want a solid action title, I have too look earlier in the systems life. Even games made with the Switch in mind can suffer from framerate drops and lag, which is a dealbreaker for some genres. It's why the joke about us mostly getting farming sims and RPG's holds some truth; they're genres where performance isn't as important. I could care less about the graphics of the switch successor. I just hope that it's able to run most games without having to worry about compromises in performance.

The camera placement is definitely for cost reasons. They're directly attached to the board, and only the top screen is a separate part. With a camera on the top it has to be a separate daughter board which would cost extra.
Learning there was only a year between the 3DS XL and the 2DS is really surreal. It felt like a lifetime of fantastic games and multiplayer with my friends between the time I got my XL for Christmas and when the doorstop was first announced.
I remember picking one up as I only had a base model 3DS and wanted to play Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (shut up) but New Nintendo 3DS and XLs were hard to find past 2016. Games using the 3D function were on their way out so it made sense to get a New 2DS XL. It's still my main 3DS to this day.
i love the new 2ds xl, to me it was a more stylish 3ds and i didnt mind losing 3d cuz i never used it (bonus amiibo functionality). plus, it was a 2ds that didnt suck to hold and play lol. i love you new 2ds xl, you will always be the peak 3ds system to me
I loved my New 2DS XL but it definitely feels cheap to the touch. But when I was in high school working for $8/hr, it was the difference between getting it now versus saving for another few months for the New 3DS XL. And I wanted to play Pokemon Moon NOW, DAMMIT!
There was an article I read before the launch of de 2ds XL, the thing is I can't find It anywhere anymore. What It said is that the agreement Nintendo had with Sharp to make 3d screens was coming to an end at the moment. If we take that as true, the existence of this revision makes a lot more sense, because that means that the 2ds XL wasn't made to coexist with the new 3ds models, it was made to replace them on the lasts years of the 3ds life, because the original 2ds wasn't compatible with the "new" 3ds software. I remember that all promotional material (Nintendo of Europe at least) dropped any reference to anything but the 2ds or 2ds XL fast, in games like the Mario and Luigi remakes and other 2017-2018 games.
N2DSXL is the GOAT imho. Barely anyone uses the 3D anyways. The N2DSXL just looks better, feels better, and is easier to hack or repair. Awesome system. Lay off the pipe, Scatt.
the new 2ds xl is my dream 3ds console, I've spent so long looking for one about $100, i will find it one of these days, my original 2ds and original 3ds are so outdated now
The regular n3ds is probably my favorite, I've got small hands so ergonomics isn't an issue, and it's the perfect size to fit in my pocket or purse. It also doesn't peel like the xl. Finally modded it earlier this year and I'm angry I didnt do it sooner.
I think the controls on the New 2DS XL feel better than on most 3DS systems. It's only behind the regular 2DS IMO. The buttons feel so much better to press than on 3DS/3DS XL/New 3DS/ New 3DS XL.
8:38 I actually do remember thinking it was a tweet by a parody account for a few seconds when I saw the Nintendo of America tweet announcing the New Nintendo 2DS XL on Twitter.
At least the new 2DS XL has a decent paint job that doesn't come out from just holding it over time like the new 3DS XL does, and having the micro SD card at the front is great. So for someone that never used the 3D effects like me, the new 2DS XL is the best version of the 3DS.
One of the things about the 2DSXL is that it has by far the worst LCD screens of the entire 3DS lineup. Nintendo worked with many different LCD screen providers, some of which provided some decent to excellent quality panels for the different 3DS SKUs. But for the 2DSXL, Nintendo really went for the cheapest, nastiest screens imaginable. Pretty much the opposite of the fabled 3DSXL's IPS displays
For real, I like this one better because it is lighter, because I can't accidentally (or in a fit of fidgeting) turn on the 3D that hurts my eyes, the screen feels clearer and nicer without the 3D screen hiding under it, and the accessible SD card + hiding the cartridge (again, I fidget too much) are huge. I'm tiny and it's beautiful. My only disappointment is that they never did the copper conductors for a drop it and charge it base.
It annoys me how people are like: “DUH WHY DOESN’T THE BUTTON ON THE POKEBALL SPECIAL EDITION DO ANYTHING!?” Honey, it’s an aesthetic, also, I’d doubt Nintendo would go out of there way to code a specific function for a specific New 2DS XL special edition, that not that many units would be made.

Learning there was only a year between the 3DS XL and the 2DS is really surreal. It felt like a lifetime of fantastic games and multiplayer with my friends between the time I got my XL for Christmas and when the doorstop was first announced.
Haters be darned, this is my fav from the 3DS family. I love the look and feel - I still play mine regularly!
Best opening to a Scott’s Stash vid yet
Cutaway gags in stash videos just hit different
Yeah, I can't believe he got Scott the Woz to cameo on his show, even if it was only for a few seconds
I love your new glasses Scott
I let ya know Scott, I am the New 2DS defender.
It shouldn't, but it surprised me to discover that even the 2ds has better special editions then the switch
Hopefully that changes after the Hyrule Switch Lite.
I have the japanese exclusive minecraft n2DSxl :D
Zeldo totk oled is goated
I’ve got the black and blue model as an upgrade from my aqua blue launch model 3DS. This thing is cute, I enjoy it.
Same!
This and the 3D version are great to jailbreak. The homebrew scene is awesome. You can even play Half Life on it.
I actually love my 2DS XL. Use it more than my New 3DS
thats the worst naming convention ever. Also, in my area, you can get a switch for cheaper than a NEW 3DS XL
i love the new 2ds xl, to me it was a more stylish 3ds and i didnt mind losing 3d cuz i never used it (bonus amiibo functionality). plus, it was a 2ds that didnt suck to hold and play lol. i love you new 2ds xl, you will always be the peak 3ds system to me
I had an old 3DS XL and just upgraded to a NEW 2DS XL and im happy with it . This things beautiful
Biggest screen and maybe the lightest DS you can get, also the best trigger buttons. Things i like.
damn now scott stash has cut-aways😭 we’re getting closer and closer to just having actual scott the woz episodes here
they can never make me hate u, new nintendo 2ds xl!!!
This is my favorite version of the 3ds 😭
My top 3 3DS systems:
1. New 3DS
2. New 2DS XL
3. 2DS
the shuffle put a smile on my face. thank you
I loved my New 2DS XL but it definitely feels cheap to the touch. But when I was in high school working for $8/hr, it was the difference between getting it now versus saving for another few months for the New 3DS XL. And I wanted to play Pokemon Moon NOW, DAMMIT!
I want a New 2DS so badly but they are all expensive online.
Try looking in local game shops. It's where I got my XL 2nd gen
I’d get the 3ds xl or the new 3ds original which are made better
I loved the ergonomics of this one.
The 3D effect was later determined to be okay for children under 7.
A 2ds xl handgrip makes it the most comfy out of everything 🤘🏽
If you break it because it’s freaking Mario Kart again, I hope it’ll come out onnnnnnnnn camera.
0:06 SWING YOUR ARMS FROM SIDE TO SIDE-
N2DSXL is the GOAT imho. Barely anyone uses the 3D anyways. The N2DSXL just looks better, feels better, and is easier to hack or repair. Awesome system. Lay off the pipe, Scatt.
I paid way more than I’d like to admit to get ahold of the purple 2ds xl like a year ago
the 3ds lineup was the razor and blades model taken to the extreme
the new 2ds xl is my dream 3ds console, I've spent so long looking for one about $100, i will find it one of these days, my original 2ds and original 3ds are so outdated now
8:29 the power of manyyyyyyy
My favorite model. I use a Pikachu new 2ds XL as my main unit.
Quick guys, the Scott's Stash is developing bits!
Thanks for doing the new Nintendo 2ds xl shuffle on my birthday scott
The regular n3ds is probably my favorite, I've got small hands so ergonomics isn't an issue, and it's the perfect size to fit in my pocket or purse. It also doesn't peel like the xl. Finally modded it earlier this year and I'm angry I didnt do it sooner.
0:36 banjo kazooie moment
10:42 "do you really think I throw all my copies of chibi-robo zip lash in the toilet? I don't throw all of them."
there's more??? 💀
5:00 YOO I HAVE THE BLACK ONE
Same. Best way to play N3DS by a mile.
I like to think that Scott is just holding a plank for the entire duration of these videos
At least the new 2DS XL has a decent paint job that doesn't come out from just holding it over time like the new 3DS XL does, and having the micro SD card at the front is great. So for someone that never used the 3D effects like me, the new 2DS XL is the best version of the 3DS.
that clip of you dancing is my new favorite clip of all time.
Listen, I've been waiting for this video lol
The New 2DS XL meant I could afford to replace my dead Gen 1 3DS [or not at all]. I still cherish mine :)
My biggest peeve with the new 2ds is just how flimsy it feels, everything else is fine, but I definetly agree that it feels cheap.
Scott's reflection in the screen of the 2DS is killing me
Counterpoint, the Hyrule Shield special edition 2DSXL is a work of art and a triumph for special edition consoles.
I’ve been waiting on this video for years now
I don’t care what anyone tells me. This is my main 3DS system
Why you dragging my BABBY!! 😂
What’s the issue with them?
the new 3ds xl ips screens had a lot of black crush
The polarizer peeled off my new 3ds XL top IPS screen. I’m sad forever.
New 2ds XL is my favorite version. It's the New model without 3d and a bit lighter, which is everything I wanted
does it really feel cheap? kinda wanna get one
@@rubyrue702 I don't think so, but apparently some people do. It's lighter than the other XL version, so I'm guessing that why some think that?
@@rubyrue702 It feels cheaper than any of the other ones but still solid.
can we get 2 hours of scott shuffling
Picked up a N2DSXL in like 2019 and it's been my main 3DS I use so i can keep my themed ones inside
A shot of Scott in a carpet video, didn’t think those two would come together
0:01 THE EMOJI POP🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
I got it from a friend for 50 bucks with some games. For that price, I can't really complain lol
I finally got into the 3ds library christmas 2017 with the 2ds xl, I loved it
For real, I like this one better because it is lighter, because I can't accidentally (or in a fit of fidgeting) turn on the 3D that hurts my eyes, the screen feels clearer and nicer without the 3D screen hiding under it, and the accessible SD card + hiding the cartridge (again, I fidget too much) are huge. I'm tiny and it's beautiful. My only disappointment is that they never did the copper conductors for a drop it and charge it base.
Are you sure the "nicer screen" isnt a placebo? The 3dsxl had an ips
@@MissiGNO000If you were lucky to get one
This is my favorite console of all time. Playing oot3d on it right now!
0:06 Scott has the Peter Parker glasses.
I think it's more like the Clark Kent glasses
the potter
Peter Griffin, more like
fun drinking game: watch every scott's stash video and take a shot every time he mentions the new 3ds's soft release in north america
You gotta work on that shuffle bro
New 2DS XL is the only 3DS model I care about, I never cared about the 3D gimmick, I just want to play the games.
10:42 "Do you really think i throw my copies of Chibi Robo Ziplash in the toilet?" **Me getting flashbacks on seeing "THIS GAME BLOWS"**
"Hey scott the woz, can you name the that one season from BFDI series, where host is two?"
Scott The Woz: 8:29
It annoys me how people are like: “DUH WHY DOESN’T THE BUTTON ON THE POKEBALL SPECIAL EDITION DO ANYTHING!?”
Honey, it’s an aesthetic, also, I’d doubt Nintendo would go out of there way to code a specific function for a specific New 2DS XL special edition, that not that many units would be made.
Fellas just make somebody up in they head and get mad at them.
Best fidget toy
It could have been the power button. It'd be super neat until you realize how easily you would accidentally press it
It's like, what's the lid button supposed to do? Some secret function you can't do on any other 3DS?
i actually love this version
I love the fact they gave up on it being truly a "2d" ds and just made it a 3ds upgrade
I'm not sure what you mean. It's a bigger 2DS made after they gave up on the 3D.
its not a 3ds upgrade in literally any way
