    Thanks for doing this video, it helped me in replacing my parking brake shoes. Like most people, I struggled with the retainer clips but found a simple solution. Pinch the closed end of the clip with a pair of channel locks to reduce the tenson and you can use your finger to reconnect them.

    I haven’t had emergency brakes for years. Here in Indiana they rust away. I think I might install some for the boat ramp. Thanks sir.

    Damn, I wish I'd seen this video last summer - I don't have a garage so it looks like I'll be doing this in the spring (comment posted late Oct 2024 in Canada) on my 03 Dakota Sport to get the park brake back!!

    Just found this video today. I have been on the fence about if I should take my dakota to the shop to do this replacement or try this myself. This was a great help and I will definitely give it a try myself. Thank you

      @@RoysGarage808 so I put new parking brakes. New disc brakes and two new calipers on the rear of my Dodge Dakota 2004. A new master cylinder because I was told it was bad. I’ve bled the brakes Front and rear. many times. I’m getting no air bubbles. but the pedal still almost goes almost to the floor....? what do you think might be the problem. My buddies telling me it could be the brake booster??? Any help would be appreciated

      @@Burgerdog75 is the pedal gradually sinking to the floor when stopping or is it sinking rather quickly?

    • @Burgerdog75

      @@RoysGarage808 Kinda quickly. It stops less than half. Can here like a air woosh when you mash the pedal

      @@Burgerdog75 EDITED BELOW: there a chance that you have a leak in your brake system and you’ll have to find it. If you do not see a leak anywhere, the master could be bypassing and leaking into the the brake booster where they connect BUT it’s HIGHLY unlikely. I hope that helps and let me know whatever else issues you run in to. Thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
      ---EDITED---
      I edited my responses after I reread your initial comment because I didn’t notice that you replaced the rear brakes AND the master, in that case it’s most likely that you have air in your system. I know you said you’ve bled the system couple times but when changing both at one time, that’s A LOT of bleeding you have to do. Also another thing I do come across in this situation is that the air could’ve gotten into the ABS unit and if it is the ABS system, it’s best to get it fixed through the dealership. It’s quite difficult to get the air out the ABS unit.
      Now, IF it is the brake fluid leaking into the booster, the tale-tell sign would be that the fluid levels on your master will visibly be falling. It’s most likely NOT the brake booster in this situation.
      I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions. Again, thanks for watching 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

    I'm about to replace the rotors on my '04 Dakota and found out got the same issue with the emergency brake shoes , they came apart .
    Also , I'm installing same grooved rotors, but was told they should go running the other direction than the ones in your truck .

    Great job! I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota with rear drum brakes, do you think I can use these 03 rear disk brakes to convert it over??? Thanks !

    How do do you take the hub off? I don't see a nut

    • @alansmith7626
      @alansmith7626 ปีที่แล้ว

      are you talking rotor or hub? The hub is the end of the axle, no need to take out for brake job, thank God! lol Rotor is usually held on with thin little funky keepers on 2 or the studs, I just use flathead screwdriver and tap them off, lotsa folks leave them off, up to you! Hope this helps
