I'm a locksmith. You should show a closeup where the screwdriver goes.
People are erroneously putting the screwdriver in the key hole and not in the little slit below the hole and are cracking expensive fobs

Great video! Your “how to” description of how to open the key fob and insert the battery in the correct way was excellent! I’m so grateful you made this, because there was nothing available in the owner’s manual.

I have a 2019 Tuscon Ultimate and my main key fob died; luckily, the spare key fob still worked. My dealership wanted to charge me $250.00 for a new key fob. I'm not mechanically inclined whatsoever. However, your video was excellent, and I fixed it for the $5.00 for the batteries! I spent 10 minutes remotely playing with the back hatch door, just delighted that it worked again. You're wonderful. Thanks!

you are a darling man to show us how to do that and you just saved me probably I don’t know $150 because I will not destroy my key fob because of you and I had no idea that there was an actual replaceable battery in there I thought I had to replace the whole blasted key fob. Thank you so so so so much for helping us.

I followed this exactly, and the outcome was superb! You can see the little slot to put a narrow flathead screwdriver (he was specific about the slot, not the keyhole)! Thank you for this video, I didn't even have to reprogram the one fob that has had a dead battery for months. Doors open fine, and the engine started up as soon as I was in the car. Saved a nice $45 the car dealer was going to charge. AAA instruction video!!!

Ha! I never noticed that there is an LED that flashes on the fob. Thanks for doing the video.

This must be the hardest fob to open ever made. Your video helped. The slot is the bottom one, not the larger one. I found that a gunsmith screwdriver worked better, left side loosened, then took a knife and placed left to right across midline on bottom to pry bottom of case open. I wonder if the dealer has a special tool to open these. Thanks for the video.

Thanks! It's about what I expected but I'm pretty sure I would have forgotten to look for that key & hence missed the slot! Yaaay! The spare batteries I have for something else are the right size!

I followed instructions exactly. My key fob cracked about half the way down. I did manage to get it the rest of the way open, change the battery, and snap it back togther. However, you can still see the crack. Maybe the flat head screw driver I used was not wide enough?

You have to put the screwdriver in the little slit below where the key slides in. You can't put the screwdriver in the big opening slot where the key slides in....right below that big opening is a little *slit*
Turn the screwdriver clockwise and it'll pop right open.
I'm a locksmith and do these all the time. If you put the screwdriver in that big hole it'll crack the case every time

The little slot beneath the key slot is really shallow and broke off with the first twist. 😮

So this method doesn’t seem to work for my 2020 sonata key fob with the smart park features on it, any suggestions? Thank you.

Mine cracked like peanut brittle when pressing it back together.
It works and seems firing otherwise but beware, very fragile.

My 2020 Sante Fe couldn't detect the key fob. I tried to start it by pushing the start button with the fob as specified in the owner's manual, but that didn't work. Then I tried my spare key fob and it worked. I replaced the battery in the original key fob, which measured 3.0v, and it worked. The new battery measured 3.2v. I removed the battery from the original key fob to simulate a dead battery, then tried to start car by pressing the start button with the key fob. It started. My guess is that the key fob glitched out and was reset by removing the battery.

    • @nukeelec
      @nukeelec ปีที่แล้ว

@@Danny-tr1eg I removed and re-installed the battery, which must have reset the key fob. I did end up installing a new battery after that because the old battery was weak. although it still worked.

Its not exaktly. In key are 2 holes. When you look inside, so you see a big and a little hole. You must take the little. Show it better in you movie. When later case is open, so you see it and unterstand it better for next battery-exchange.

Don't insert the screwdriver in the key slot. There is a small, shallow slot below the key slot. That's where the screwdriver goes.
