For the most part looks like you love living in Houston so far. You are 100% correct in terms of the cost of living in the Galleria area vs the suburbs. While it's tough to find anything nice for $1,000 in the Galleria area now, there are some hidden gems out there. ( not luxury apartments tough).
I have been doing apartment locating for a bit over 2 years and I do feel the same about the fact that you can get an apartment that's 10x better in areas such as Katy, Cypress, even in the Woodlands for very similar price as in the inner city. Plus traffic in the Galleria area is getting out of control during rush hours.

Glad you are enjoying the city. I personally hate any establishment that has hookah lol. While there are a lot of those joints, there are plenty of places that don't do the hookah thing if it isn't your vibe. You're also absolutely right, some places do catfish on the food and it's more of an "ambiance" thing, rather than quality. There are a lot of great restaurants though, but they are usually not all that popular and serve a variety of different foods from around the world. I strongly suggest dodging the chain restaurants and popular spots and just google the best restaurants based on country or ethnicity.

Uber if you are going out in Houston or any major city. For one a DWI charge is expensive as hell, you don't risk your life or anyone elses, you are going to have to pay park anyways, and it burns your gas up. If you stay within Houston proper it may cost between 25-30 bucks to Uber to the venue you are going to and back. It's well worth the cost. Parking is free in the streets at night pretty much everywhere, but you just have to make sure you aren't parking in a tow zone, more than likely the vehicle will be good but it could always be broken in to or bumped by drunk people walking, and you have to keep an eye out walking back to the vehicle afterwards....especially women. It's just better to Uber.

A recession as bad it can be, provides good buying opportunities in the markets if you’re careful and it can also create volatility giving great short time buy and sell opportunities too. This is not financial advise but get buying, cash isn’t king at all in this time!

On the contrary, even if you’re not skilled, it is still possible to hire one. I am a project manager and my personal portfolio of approximately $750k took a big hit in April due to the crash. I quickly got in touch with a financial-planner that devised a defensive strategy to protect and profit from my portfolio this red season. I’ve made over $350k since then.

I was born in the original Hermann Hospital by the zoo back in 1965.
I remember Houston history from then to now personally, and my 86-year-old mother remembers even more.
Lemme know if you have questions. I love my hometown, but BORDER PROBLEMS are causing a LOT more crime in decent neighborhoods.
I live in a predominantly black apartment complex, and until Biden got in and opened the border, this was a SAFE, FUN, pleasant place to live.
Now, we are dealing with child & women sex trafficking on an unprecedented scale. They had a big bust in an apartment adjacent to mine, just last month! We have our "powder" and wont hesitate to use it, but, still... ive never seen ANYTHING like this!
