As a history graduate, i actually wonder if medieval people would enjoy this kinda thing? Think about it. Obviously they wouldnt like the lyrics, but the melody itself, i think taverns and brothels would be like "WOAH this is a cool song".
The common people had more important things to worry about and the royals wouldn't admit liking it even if they did. Anything too out of the mold could be considered the work of the devil or people would just be too pretentious to give a fuck.
