For the number of people who slag Ryanair, they are very well organised when it comes to any issues. I can't fault them. I've only had one cancellation in all the years I've used them, and that was due snow in the UK and Ireland
The circling would've been a programmed hold, after declaring a technical issue to ATC. It gives the pilots time to work through the QRH and try to rectify the fault, whilst also speaking to engineers on the ground. In this case it was decided to abort the flight, and return to Birmingham. The 737 cannot dump fuel, so the holding pattern also allows for fuel to be burnt off, in turn reducing the landing weight to within the safe landing criteria.

The 737 doesnt have a fuel dump system, so you were likely flying in circles to burn fuel off to get under the landing weight of the jet. Usually only wide body jets tend to have them as required by the CAA and FAA :) nice video!

Flew Birmingham to Lanzarote and back with Jet2 last week. They’re very organised and we dropped our bags off the evening before. Had a very nice breakfast bap in giraffe the morning of our flight. Want to come back to Lanzarote early next year. Enjoy your videos.
Loved the video, glad that you arrived home safely. We had a similar thing happen when we were flying with Swiss Air, we were almost home and there was a technical problem and ended up turning around and having to spend the night back in Switzerland.
Auto Reisen (Rye-Zen) are excellent, I can highly recommend them. One year we got to Playa Blanca and I didn't like the performance of the car. Within 60 mins they tuned up with a lorry with a new car and took the old one away.

We go right down the other end of the airport by all bar one it's always really quiet go past the tip lounge 5 minute walk always have a beer so you can sleep 😊

@ well it’s a moral question. Under EU rules if it’s airlines fault and plane technical is then if it’s over 3 hours you are ‘entitled’. But credit to you if you take it as they got me there and no real issue.

It is a common misconception that the airports contract Swissport and busses etc. but it is actually the airline that contract Swissport and the ground handling agents! Glad you got there 😅
As an aviation fan, it seems like it was a pressurisation issue as you stayed at 8,000ft which is an altitude where you can breathe without cabin pressure or oxygen masks. The circling will have been so you could burn fuel as you may have been too heavy to land. Good video!
Dave, don't forget to put your claim in for compensation under EU 261 (400e). Happened to me, the wife and two kids in Jan in Lanzo. Accelerating down the runway on take off and jammed on the brakes. Last flight out back to Dublin. In fairness to ryanair an inbound flight from Seville was turned around and sent to Dublin.
Jet2 has had priority at Leeds Bradford Airport for a long time, this is because that’s where they’re based. If you’re flying with anyone else you have to walk a bit further.
