Finally a good video on northern strain bass! It seems like every single video is on some lake down south, with completely different acting fish, so the tips they give have little value to fishermen up north.
being born and raised in milwaukee, WI and fishing for crappie was my main dish. I was introduced to the mother of fun fishing....bass in Houston, TX. so of course upon moving back home i had to find out how to fish our northern vegetation which people dont believe we have!! lol thankyou this was PERFECT!
I have a lake here in PA that I have not fished much and the lake looks similar to this. I appreciate the strategies. I will use them when I go fishing to breakdown the mats and see where the fish are. Thanks!
I agree, great video! I would love to have the reel also, in a left handed version though. I'll visit the site shown previously. Keep up the good work!
Man id love to fish a lake like this, to bad i only got ponds by me and they all got little to no cover to work with. So my version of this consists of casting a bait by cover and most of the time a bass will be sitting right under the cover to ambush my bait.
3D- Fishing We usually run either straight braid, or straight fluorocarbon. We shy away from line to line connections in flipping situations due to the extreme stress placed on knots during the hookset. We like braid in heavy grass situations, as it cuts through the stems and rarely breaks - bass, even in clear water usually aren't line shy. If they do seem to be line shy, or the cover thins, we'll add straight fluorocarbon to the mix.
The bane of bass anglers in northern swampy areas, the f'n pike! They cut through most lines and steal your 12$ frog and you can't put on a steel leader because it'll ruin the action of most presentations for bass. Ugh,
Very true, growing up at guntersville it's hard for me to tie anything else lol. We all have that favorite knot that we use the majority of the time. He's obviously doing something right he caught some nice fish.
Yeah yeah, gets old always say flipping and pitching. Most guys use it interchangeably - one word rather than always saying 2. But what's important here is strong content from an excellent angler.

I agree, doesn't seem to be any videos on fishing bass in our knock of the woods. The little snake he caught "northern" is a perfect example
Keep the northern videos coming!
jbunn33 We have a bunch shot and just have to get them edited!
Best Northern Bass vid I've seen for bass fishing yet. Great job

We have similar fishing here in NY. Tons of vegetation and underlying fall.

-great video and I second the 7-3 omen rod...my favorite by far for flipping
Helpful presentation. You, sir, are living large. Congratulations and thanks.
A video that finally speaks to me!
Exactly the video i was looking for.

Oh man, that last one was a beast!
Great video and lots of awesome tips. I will be sure to try this next time I go out and the top water action is slow.
Thanks Erik, we really appreciate the feedback!
Oldie but goodie
Very helpful video, and the bonus is that it's a Minnesota vid
Right in my area. Brainerd Lakes represent!
We need more northern bass fishermen on youtube
GREAT VIDEO!!! AS ALWAYS ON WIRED2FISH channel!
What is exact model of that rod?
WarEagleTheBest Thanks for the comment! It's the 13 Fishing Omen Black Casting Rod, 7'3'' Heavy: goo.gl/ysJMqM
Great video! This is exactly how I attack the bass in MN! I love to punch heavy cover!
great video.
Awesome video thank you!!!!
Glad you liked it!

Why is it whenever I fish weeds all that happens is I get hung up on them?
is there ever a time that when you are flipping you would use a leader instead of just straight bride

What lake was this?
This was filmed on the upper Mississippi River in MN.
What reel is that?
I think it is a 13 fishing Concept C reel.
hardog22 Thanks for watching, and Anthony nailed it. It's the 13 Fishing Concept "C" in the blistering 8:1:1 gear ratio: goo.gl/89LMnH

Francis Ducharme Yes Pike can be frustrating for sure. But we also eat a lot of those culprits too, so we can't complain too much! :-)
Wired2Fish
I should start doing that too!
If it's not pike (in the midwest) it's chain pickerel in the northeast! Slimy little buggers...
If you guys live in the south, And have heavy cover better go with a snell knot if your fishing for mondos.
This may be the case, but it's been an open book of debate among top-tier bass pros: th-cam.com/video/j5x3i33llkE/w-d-xo.html

what kind of knot?
Hi Joe, Andy was using a standard Palomar knot in this video.
Normally you hear EVERYONE recommend a snell knot. Any reason why not in this instance?
That Minnesotan accent though...
He's pitching, not flipping.
Another you tube video bout flipping with no flipping in it!
