They just want players to grind out each seasons battle pass and not just unlock everything at the start with the previous seasons xp. I don’t see how this is a big deal and I feel like people are just getting confused.
Everyone except people who pay real money, because your grinding in the game means nothing to them, lawyers knocking on their door telling them they sold worthless cryptocurrency for real money *does.*
i agree but i still think they should let you keep the extra stuff that you grinded for, if you unlock the whole battlepass and grind even more, those points shouldn't be taken away period.
Good job buddy, this is revolutionary and I’m sure many others aren’t doing the same. You should go into rocket science as well you could make some headway there too
I mean thats the great part. You get free skins and if you want something more you can buy others and actually support them as well. Its nothing pay to win so I do t have any issues with it. Also 5 dollars for a battlepass is kinda insane nowadays and it even gives you currency back
Where's the scam? 1. The Chrono tokens earned to unlock items from the battle pass disappear just like any other game. 2. Lattice bought and converted to Chronos tokens don't disappear. 3. Lattice bought or earned from the battle pass don't disappear or get taken from the player. 4. Units earned and used to buy the 600-unit skins don't disappear. Some people are just mad that they can't use leftover Chrono tokens to buy levels and unlock items from the next battle pass.
@@carmenjohnson1834cuz the battle pass literally works in a “earn this amount to get the next set of rewards” so anyone with a brain should’ve figured that they were gonna reset long time ago
@carmenjohnson1834 i mean i basically said it's cuz of how to the battle pass works not "that's just how it is" those aren't the same thing i feel like a better question should be y r ppl mad u have no reason to be mad at all
Most people don't understand that the chrone tokens are just for the battlepass and not for the skins itself. The chrono tokens are just Xp and not currency to buy skins but just to progress the battlepass which the player will be rewarded for it, the blue token are the currency which you will have to buy in order to unlock comestics that is not in the battlepass,( those blue tokens can also be earned through completing achievements) and those blue tokens and littice does not reset. Hence effectively making this not a scam where players lose their money. That system of removing battlepass Xp is in every game that has a battlepass, mostly in free to play games eg Fortnite, Pubg, OW2 and even in every Call of Duty. This is effectively done to keep players engaged and its not necessarily removing their cash. I hope this helps for clearing the ambugity.
Is the system of passing on battlepass currency only for people who paid with real money, and not pass for those who grinded it, normal in _Fortnite, PubG, OW2_ and _Call of Duty?_ If not, there's a problem you're pretending you're not seeing.
@Lurker_Z what problem? you pay, you get to keep it, you dont, then you grind like the rest of other free to play players. its normal for any free to play games. not to mention, its just cosmetics, are free to play game devs arent allowed to earn money now?? its not hurting anyone but weirdos who felt FOMO for whatever fking reason, over seasonal battle pass
"IT'S SO COMPLICATED" It's literally not, man. Stop thinking of chrono as a currency, it's pass xp. Buying chrono with lattice equates to buying a level skip in a different pass structure. THERES NO REASON TO COLLECT A BUNCH OF TOKENS AND SAVE THEM. THERE ARE PLENTY OF MISSIONS.
@marlinmurrell620 it makes perfect sense to allow people to purchase pass xp with real money, because some people want the content but don't play often and are willing to pay. There's nothing in the structure that prevents people from easily earning all the content without spending more than the pass cost.
I had enough points to buy the entire pass week 2. I have about 2000 leftover with 10 days left to earn tons more. This entire video is dumb, he usually has a better understanding of things imo but not this
- The PURPLE currency is ONLY used in BP content and NOTHING ELSE, you earn this by doing daily missions. - The BLUE currency is the F2P currency you can use to buy skins that are not in the BP. This thing does NOT reset and you can collect it from event missions & achievements. - If you get PURPLE currency by spending/converting GOLD currency (the one you pay $ for), it stays till the next seasons. - If you get PURPLE currency from daily mission rewards, it resets when season ends and you will just have to grind purples again next season. - If you get BLUE currency by spending/converting GOLD currency (the one you pay $ for), it stays there forever. Edit: - As someone pointed out in the comments, you can do "Practice vs AI" to finish missions and collect PURPLE credits as well as BLUE credits to make it as easy as possible to catch up without risking getting bullied by a sweaty player which would prevent you from completing missions and waste your time per match. This is barely an issue.
ok but what happens when you buy 500 purple currency that you end the season with. then, you get to 1500 in the next season and spend 1000 of it. will it prioritize spending your f2p earned currency? I think that's a fairly significant question. also at the end of the day it is still just a bad system for the players, even if they just limited the amount of f2p currency you could keep to even just 1/4 a battle pass that would be infinitely better while still farming player engagement. that's what helldivers 2 does btw. they are already making money off of having you purchase the battle pass why do they have to completely reset your ability to access your purchase each season? just cause it's a system you are fine with existing doesn't mean it's good.
That seems fine to be honest. I think it makes sense to clear the currency for BP only each season, because that means people can't stockpile that currency. It does have some FOMO warning written over it, but seems far more consumer friendly than what I've seen in other games.
Actually one of the more friendly and straight-up monetization that's been done. The store skins are still a little expensive, but also being that so much other good stuff is cheap/free in addition to the game itself, it's something that's there if you really want it for a character you main
Thats just how every battle pass ever works. You play the the pass they make a new one you start from zero again. To my knowledge one ever complained about this. They tried to make some weird pick your own rewards so they made these coins, but they still want to reset your progress like every other pass. Complaining about this system being player unfriendly is like waking up and noticing that they forgot to spray paint the shit gold that they usually serve you in battle passes. I dont think people are even complaining about it now; the guy just needs to make a living and thats an easy video to make, i respect it, as much as i respect asmon capitalising on his video.
I agree, It seems like he's coming a little dry from overwatch trying to find things to talk about. I feel he should have mentioned something like abusive burdensome Eastern systems with multiple currencies :T (BDO).. I let them know if my game review I am waiting to spend money because of this, I'm afraid they will make like "GOLD NUGGI BIG BOI POINTS" next season you can buy as well. I'll quit cold turkey like the first day i played overwatch 2
It’s fine that he doesn’t like it. But it’s hypocritical of him calling it a scam as he complains how others call everything they dislike nazi blowing it out of proportion.
@@danieltafoya9841 the same way you use xp to claim the battle pass lol what are you on about, the one you use to buy the skins in the store is the blue stuff
Why would battlepass XP carry over to the next battlebass? What game does this? It even tells you that the tokens reset every season on the battlepass upgrade page. This token thing is a result of letting you select what you want from the pass by giving you coins instead of levels. The side effect of coins is "banking levels" which isint possible in most passes, and breaks the engagment system of seasons and passes if it didint start fresh (like every other pass) Doing it this way is arguably the most player friendly version of a battlepass I have played. Its not even a scam if you overspend in ignorance because you retain the tokens you spent real money on.
Then why does it carry only for people who paid real money? Maybe because they sell worthless cryptocurrency for real money. Then the rules have to be different for thee than for mee.
People are dumb. It's like calling battle pass exp or the fortnite stars a scam. But they're calling one of the only battle passes that you have an infinite amount of time to complete a scam.
Chronotokens are litterally just the equivalant of battle pass xp in every other game, NO SHIT they reset, that would be like as if you could save xp from one battle pass and use it for the next.
Then why is it labeled as a currency and not as EXP? this sort of language used is intentional. Devs and players knows the difference between the two. calling EXP as a currency is disceptive at worst and a stupid mistake at best when designing a game. also, If battle passes are not expiring, but your EXP is, then something fucky is happening and no one should be happy with it. How are you supposed to complete previous passes if you're always busy completing the current one? it's intentionally meant to force players to buy lattice to complete previous passes.
@@UltraVast I wouldn't be surprised if the currency will stay after the season ends because the battle pass can be grinded in later seasons if you didn't menage to finish it. Maybe the coins will stay or be turned into a currency that will be used to grind through old battle passes and by "reset" they simply mean that you will have to be grinding the new coins for a new battle pass. I doubt they are trying to scam us, at least it doesn't feel like that so far.
@@UltraVastim pretty sure it's labeled currency so ppl know that they can buy what they want from the pass without being locked behind having to wait for what they want, kinda like how Fortnite battle stars work, which in that game was also labeled a currency. in marvel rivals if u hover over the currencies it tells you what each if them are for. there is no need to buy levels in this game, if you just play the game as you should, you earn the amount to continue in the pass. also just complete the previous pass with the earned exp first, then start the new one, or voice versa bc none of the passes end so you can't focus on certain passes whenever you want. its literally not forcing you to make the option to purchase any tokens.
@@UltraVast Because you spend the battlepass currency for the battlepass items, instead of just linearly unlocking items on the battlepass like with xp. You get an excess of this currency every season, so you can continue to work on previous battlepasses. Why should you be able to maintain it inbetween seasons and insta-unlock the next battlepass? That ruins the point of a battlepass.
What's the difference in using EXP in the next BP for this BP, and vice versa, hmmmmmmmmmm? They are literally only doing it that way for FOMO, and FOMO is only ever a bad thing. Y'all too used to your abusive relationship with bad monetization [ractoces.
The ironic part is, if you're butt hurt that your real money converted BP coins will become 0 at the end of season, BROTHER WHY ON EARTH YOU SPEND MONEY ON IT IN THE FIRST PLACE IF YOU'RE NOT USING IT?!
Because the Hela skin in the S0 pass is trash and I didn't want any of it not even the sprays or the emote. Wanted to save those credits for the season in March when im on vacation. Idiots can't think of genuine reasons why this rule is just bad
@Walexander3243 finally found someone says it Oh it never expires - and you get coins to unlock - it don't want this skin - i want next seasons skin so whats the piont of it not expiring if your gonna force me to buy everything anyways
Yep. But they are not going to do that because it is actual currency, the battle pass currency is there to give you choices on what you want to unlock.

I really think people have a critical disconnect with the video, asmongold, what everyone arguing about, and the video asmon is watching. 1) Asmongold is not siding with or against the video. I mean if everyone act like that you can understand why in response to your remarks we would get no where and accuse you of saying things you never meant or said etc . 2) Personally i think its fine for the video asmongold is watching to want to battle pass to be more consumer friendly... it doesnt matter if others are worse or if ow2 is worse... i think i can safely say all consumers want every media and entity to be more consumer friently. (not to the point where the entity declare bankruptcy or End of service lmao (some union strikes push too hard like Car union only for everyone to lose their job because the company declared bankruptcy lol funny) 3) There is a bais that people should be aware that the video we are watching with asmon is from a person what generally plays OW2 and dirrect competitor to Marvel rival. And OW 2 has its own share of scandal but yet it was never mention. but in defense of them they have made remarks of OW2 poor pricing and anti consumerism.... BUT THIS BRINGS ME TO POINT 4 4) we the consumers knows every business is out to make money and they all deploy anti consumerism tactic... not a single game doesnt preform 1 or the other.... Its fine to ask for marvel to be better but we all aready know the asnwer... be it genshin impact, OW2, Your local retail store, pokemon cards, nintendo, playstastion etc etc... they all do it at the same time so we do not have alternative... when the alternative sucks.... Being so focus on Marvel rivals to the point where people are arguing it doesnt matter if others are just as bad or better or if marvel is better or worse ... derails the most important questions... The consumers get fucked in every corner of the market.... but there are destractions and derailment like that that brings that conversation we need nowhere... I seriously don't understand the point of this "confusion". I play for free, I bought the battle pass for 5 euros, I played focusing on completing my missions so I can get tokens, I barely play and I almost finished the battle pass with how many days left. Then I'm told that if I have earned extra tokens from missions in the new season will be taken away but if I paid for tokens my paid tokens will remain in my account. So what's the damn problem?? WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH THAT? Are we all losing our minds nowdays? Can we be serious for a minute? Why cry and call it a scam when the game takes back the free shit that gives you but let's you keep what you buy? IT'S A FREE TO PLAY GAME! And it's a good game! I don't mind them making money in some way when they keep doing a good job on it! I have an issue when they don't do their job correctly. Jesus Christ man.
Also it's not that anyone forced us to buy anything. Everything is for free. Game is free. You can play for free. Why the frick we started caring more about battle passes than the actual game? Specially when we finally got a good game that is mostly liked, a lot!
@Entertainment-zh7rt that's my choice. I can play for 200 if I want. But what is given to me, game wise, is all free. And that comment helps my case more tbh. I paid and I don't cry if they get away free tokens, as long I don't lose paid products, idc.

Lattice that turn into chrono token will be sent back to you via mail in the new season. Why aren’t they reading. No fomo you can unlock the previous battle pass skin in the new season as well. Just need to grind the chrono token
Bit that requires you to buy the battle pass right you can't just earn the skins from the last season without buying it right I was just confused about that part
If you had a bunch of tokens that will be go down the drain anyway, may as well buy the battlepass and redeem everything, there is where the FOMO is, that is why is desing that way, greed is still at the core of it, as a player you can just ignore it and you are not affected in any way, but you cant just deny its purpuse and pretend is a good thing
why are people in the comments always saying that? they only send you whats left after the auto redemption. so if you buy 1000 purple tokens and have those at the end of the season, the automatic redemption buys random stuff from the battlepass until it cant buy anything anymore. so you basically buy 1000 tokens and get stuff you dont want if you try to take those to the next season.
I think the problem is how it was framed. The video made it seem like your v-bucks (equivalent) was being reset every season which would be a reasonable thing to be pissed about. It was even more egregious bc they claimed that the only "v bucks" that wouldn't be deleted are ones you paid for with real money.
@@siegebot82 Exactly, what people are seemingly misunderstanding is that chronotokens are NOT the equivalent of vbucks- they’re the equivalent of EXP. Lattice is the equivalent to vbucks. This is fair. It’s unnecessary, but it’s fair- no need to complain- if a company doesn’t want free to play players to just infinitely stock chronotokens to max out their pass, that’s just smart- you’ve got to give m the MAJORITY of players- who are f2p- a reason to come back and grind- rather than immediately just unlock everything at the start of the season for playing a lot before- because imagine I get every item and I just skip playing the game until the next season- that’ll slowly but surely kill the game, this is a reasonable decision.
That is not the point. Im not even going to explain because Asmongold did it multiple times you are doing something that is not good for players defending them in this matter and saying look others are doing it also, there are people killing other people so is okay to kill ? what is this LOGIC and for what reason because you like the game ? You don't have to agree with everything they are doing even when is good game I play the game, I enjoy the game and I think is not okay and I will be enjoying game after this video same way.
I think they simply say that you can't obtain new season skins with old season hardwork. You have to play in season 2 to get season 2 stuff. If you pay for it then its fine we won't take it away. Its not that deep guys...a whole lot of nothin burger
yeah seriously. asmon usually has shit takes anyway. literally every game does it this way and nobody complains. thats like if i were to say that fortnite should give me the entire brand new season battlepass because i got to level 200 in the last one. no. levels do not carry over. neither do chrono tokens. thats just how it is.
You can earn the Chrono Tokens ingame and you can buy them. If you buy them you don't loose them. Only what you earned for free will be gone, that's not hard to understand. Also, no game ever will allow you to complete the next Battlepass totally for free. Fortnite had Battle Stars and they all was gone in the next season, so you can collect them again for the next Battlepass and no one had a problem with it. You can buy the Battlepass and speed it up by buying pages or earn it only by playing, the only difference is that you don't have complete dailies and weeklies for the Stars. All games does that, it's just a bit confusing in Marvel Rivals that's it. People who are mad about this seems like they did't bought manny Battlepasses before in their live. (IT'S JUST A BATTLEPASS, JUST SKINS) The guy in the Video didn't explained it very well and made it very dramatic as it is tbh, because there is not enough people who are mad about it and understand why the developpers are dooing this.
You act as though people who play Rivals must've somehow previously played all the dogshit games you have in the past and hence "it's not big deal", it doesn't work like that, not everyone is your age nor are they prone to the same self deprecating behaviour you display, to say "it's not a big deal" just shows how much of a stockholm syndrome fanboy you are, just because you've voluntarly engaged in exploitative monetary systems before in other games doesn't make it ok in this game, why on earth would you want this game to be as shitty as the other ones? It boggles the mind.
@@ammox4683 I will agree that rivals for many probably over 70% of player base right now is completly new to games. Even in overwatch bronze tier players are better than gold here. Like everyone learning not this game mechanics but how to play an shooter in general. Like they have no ability at all. Enemies can see I just went to the side corner that leads right to them on the other end and as soon as I disappear from their vision they forget I ever existed untill I reappear right next to them. Which is something they could have easily tackled by preparing for me to show up yet nop... and that's gold level. so yea people dont know what to expect because its most likely their first shooter and if they played Helldivers 2 that game does carry over tokens but it just has a cap it had since day one. That cap was way lower than battlepass requirment (250 points while the battle pass was over 2k) so if you dont spend you earn them and get 0 because you already capped out, but it still carried over even if it was never enough to buy out first page.
Not gonna lie I love me some skins, I make good money and can afford them but I don't knock anyone that doesn't want to pay for them, the back and forth with this debate is always weird to me, buy a skin or don't do whatever you want lmao
As much as I agree I hate it when they ad in a gatcha system for skins after they had an original system where you just buy the skin. Lookin at league of legends. They had $30 and even $1000 skins. But when you spend that money you get the skin. Now they have the system where you buy $300+ of lootboxes and you are garunteed the skin at the end but it can open the skin early now you have X lootboxes left over that are basically useless
Exactly. 2 of my favourite mobile games were clash mini and apex mobile and they got removed because they weren't profiting. I'm mainly a PC gamer so it would suck even more if people weren't spending on Marvel Rivals. Such a fun game it needs to stay alive.
@@dylansmith6078 Agreed, I spent an absurd amount of money in Apex with no regrets, but as of late everything in there is a lootbox so I stopped buying anything, I'm a simple man - I see a skin I want I should be able to buy it directly, and so far MR is giving me what I want
I use the same logic for gambling and drugs. Seems a lot of people don’t believe in personal freedom/responsibility. I believe we should all have the freedom to make our own decisions, even bad decisions.
This is the most nothing burger of all time, the currency it is just exp for the battle pass that resets like every season battle pass in every other game known to date. There is no reason to change its so beyond easy to get the tokens already and there wouldn't be a point to have challenges in the game at that point cuz you would just max the battlepass intently done at the start of every season.
TLDR: The purple tokens are effectively battlepass xp and are expected to be temporary. The blue tokens are for store skins and never get removed. Many games don't even let you get currency through playing for store skins anymore (OW2). Whining about not carrying over the purple tokens is like complaining you can't make battlepass progress for future battlepasses right now. You can continue to earn blue tokens and farm them so you can buy store skins all you want though. The issue is being misconstrued which is why the video is downvoted. In a normal battlepass from other games you make pass progress with xp through playing the game or purchasing progress. In Rivals it is exactly the same. The improvement is that you can pick and choose what you want out of the pass in any order depending on what you like. The chrono tokens are literally battlepass xp that you can spend. Yes, wiping them at the end of the season is to farm player engagement but that is already happening in every other battlepass system as the xp and progress on that individual pass is wiped. At least in this system you can still earn past rewards if you purchased the battle pass you'll just have to earn xp to unlock it. If you max out a battlepass in any other game you don't earn any rewards beyond what's there and none of the extra hours/xp/missions you complete are for anything until the new pass unlocks. This is by far the most consumer friendly battlepass system I've seen. Could they let you carry some tokens over between seasons, sure it would be nice, but it's not predatory or consumer unfriendly because it's a free system in a free game. You can even earn the blue tokens and buy store skins, which Overwatch even removed the ability to do in their relaunch of OW2. In only a few days of playing I've unlocked nearly the entire battlepass available (half of a normal one). I don't even try and do missions I just play the game with whatever character I want and still have tons of progress. If the season lasts 2 or 3 months normally it's plenty of time to farm out the entire pass and past seasons of stuff. Being able to play for a few hours and get a cool skin (400 tokens) is also amazing because you can buy skins in whatever page you want except for the last ones.
Yeah, people are only complaining because they are not used to a system where you can still complete the previous battle passes after the fact, but EVERY other battle pass also does this, but they also get rid of the entire pass, so no one realises. Also, giving the players a reason to return is also good for the completely free to play crowd, as it will increase the matchmaking pool for everyone, and keep the game alive for longer, this is what people don't understand...
Yes let's stone marvel rivals for doing what every other game company does. It's free to Play and marvels so far has done more than most FTP games for thier community. Unlike OW2 , league etc. Honestly the game is so clean feels good and they listen to the community. God forbid a FTP game trys to make money.

@derrian6969 and you act like they have not made this game better than any of its competitors the fact that you can still get the battle pass exclusives after the battle pass session ends by just getting the next one is something no other ftp allows you. They said any purple currency you buy using real money won't go away only the free stuff you got through playing the game will. Obviously we'll have to see when the season swaps over but if it's true then it seems fine to me. They just don't want people to farm a bunch of purple then insta unlock the next battlepass for free when it gets released. If you want the next battlepass you either need to grind while it's current or pay for it. No battlepass in any game lets you grind the next one before it's released so why is asmon so against this.
The game only shows total currency and not how much of it was paid for and how much was farmed for .what if they steal from the paid portion how will you know if they steal just a small amount from you and how do you prove it?
@@warawarawhat As they clearly said, you will retain the lesser of either the total currency you bought or the remaining currency. Essentially, it prioritises spending the free one first. It's so simple even a child could understand it, I don't know why so many people are pretending not to.
the ratio is probably because the video is incoherent. The chrono tokens are just battle pass xp, you spend it, just like in helldivers. if you buy chrono tokens they dont get auto-spent and they dont go away. Because it’s literally a scam: “Please note that Chrono Tokens obtained by purchasing the upgraded Luxury Battle Pass, or any additional discounted Chrono Tokens obtained via the upgraded Luxury Battle Pass (such as the 1,400 Chrono Tokens in Season 0) shall not be treated as being "purchased with Lattice."
@@theredpillneo2296 it's not that I'm defending the company, the system is really good for players but it's not well portrayed and that's why people are mad, it's cause they are misunderstanding how the battlepass works and yes that is their fault for not portraying it in a simpler manner So I'm gonna explain it, the reason why we are having this huge "problem" and the reason the community is so split is because, like you, some people are looking at Chrono tokens as CURRENCY which they are NOT, they are battle pass experience Let me explain further did you ever see anyone in any game, let's say... Fortnite, complain about how the exp you should've gained after finishing the pass NEEDED to carry over to the next season (whether they have the free or paid)? NO, ofc not because that's stuff is stupid and that's basically what you guys are doing The only difference here is that they allow us to choose what we want to unlock first instead of a linear progression, that's literally it! The rest is just a normal battle pass so obviously the exp is gonna get reset! But yes it is their fault for not communicating this properly and causing so much confusion, if they gave you exp instead and inside a little menu in the battlepass you could exchange it for tokens none of this would've happen I'm just tired of seeing companies trying to do better and getting shit on anyways, what this is gonna do is give us a worse product since no matter the effort everyone always complains so might as well give them actual reason to complain
@@D1I. It really isn't, it's just not being communicated properly and some people are having some difficulty understanding Check my other response and you'll know why
@@derrian6969 A single match in Rivals is like 5 or 6 minutes lmao, Completing the missions is a cakewalk, I only play for like 2 hours a day and in a single week had like 2 pages completed. Not only that but the old battlepasses don't go away after the new one, so theres like 0 FOMO.
People seem to forget that these are *businesses* . This is not a charity or non-profit. They make the game free to play, therefore they need to make money in other ways. Obviously, they dont want players to be able to get EVERYTHING for free by just saving up endlessly. They want you to buy the next pass, they want you to buy more currency, they want to profit off of their game. Expecting anything else is intentional misrepresentation and a massive double standard. They aren't blizzard, they aren't acting extremely greedy or anything, they just design the battle pass system to make money, duh.
100%. i remember i used to play this mobile moba called vainglory, which to this day is far and beyond better than league of legend wild rift. one of their many mistakes they made all heroes and skins available if you played the game enough, so there was no incentive to spend usd (they also tried to get into esports too quickly, most mobile device could not handle the engine). long story short, they ran out of money and had to sell their publishing rights to another company, who promptly shut down the server to boost their own mobile moba game.
@@illyaeater yeah, they got rid of it for a reason. You can only allow users so much free usage before you're just losing money. They fully bank on the cosmetics/battle pass being tempting enough for players to *spend money* to buy it, NOT use saved up points from months ago to get it for free. Everytime a player gets the battle pass for free, the company is losing money. You cant sustain investor interest and also give away everything for free. Thats why the GAME itself is free, and the cosmetics are not. Because they NEED those who do get the battle pass, to actually *pay money* for it.
@@RigRacers Well, the first Overwatch was like $40 so I'd hardly call it "free usage" to play a game I paid for. OW2 is when it went full free to play and completely erased the first game's existence. But I agreed with everything else you said.
@theredpillneo2296 it's not free, though. Hela is a giveaway skin that only takes 400 to get. **YOU can't get her anymore if the event ended and YOU DIDNT buy the pass. Regardless of you intended to save for it. Also, getting 400 takes like 10 games tops if you finish missions.
@@theredpillneo2296 no it doesnt stand at all bc the pass gets removed if you dont pay for it. So it doesnt even matter if you saved pass points. Also if you get to hoard points the next pass would be insta unlocked. Meaning the less interaction to the game. Less potential for them to make money the "regular" way. The greedier they get. Until it doesnt make money anymore. Bam the game dies. There are things that the players are right there are some things that just are straight up privileged.
Asmon is a true WoW player. He expects to be able to no life play a live service game for 1000 hours the first season and not need to play for any content for the rest of the games lifetime. Its basically hes entitled to his time but hes not entitled to break the commitment to continually play a live service game. Why would you expect the 1000 hours you put in year one to carry the same weight as someone who played 1000 hours over 4? Also he needs to stop with the narrative of "deleting battle pass progress" and see its just "not carrying over excess battlepass xp to the next"
this is not healthy btw. because in a free game you can login just play for few round and log out again. Because his take on that video is stupid and that is my opinion
It's more than clear that ppl simply don't understand the system so to make it simple "Chrono tokens = Battle pass Level". Every other game resets your level once the new season is introduced and so does marvel rivals and like any other game you have the option to instantly buy chrono tokens or levels which is the same thing. The difference here is that you earn chrono tokens fast and easy and by that i mean wait a week then play only 2 hours and get all challenges, dont miss a thing (i missed more than half the time of the BP cuz i started playing recently and got all rewards in the range of 5 days cuz the challenges stack). Ppl get mad just cuz its done in a different way despite having the same outcome like the other games plus its purely cosmetic, shouldnt be hot topic in the first place and if ppl like it they will simply buy it either way since the game is free and so are the heroes. (Ohh and mods exist so i guess if the skin you want isnt in the game u might find it as a mod which comes free)
@@justanobody0 Their system being new and different is what started these complains due to ppl not understanding it. You can complete the BP so fast and go back to previous ones you couldn't claim at the time.
they shouldn't allow you to have surplus chrono tokens in the first place. if you unlocked everything you shouldn't be able to redeem more besides the ones that you used actual money to buy. Because it causes drama like this.
I feel like Asmon is taking the piss here? In no game does any battlepass xp (chrono tokens) carry over but in this one paid xp does. xp getting auto redeemed is a good thing if you can't get on the last day or whatever you don't miss your rewards and the battlepass doesn't expire anyway so you can go back later and get the rewards when you can. I think it may seem confusing and complicated in their post because they were so thorough in their explanation. Free xp go away, paid xp stay, you not buy all rewards no worry we buy for you. The pass is on the cheaper side of passes in games too. I think the guys video got so many dislikes because he made it out to be WAY worse than it actually is. Yeah battlepasses suck but they're not going anywhere unfortunately and F2P games need to make money to stay up and running but this is most definitely NOT a scam.
I think they should remove ability to buy chrono points and instead you just buy the battle pass unlock with yellow points. so lets say you have 200 chrono but need 400 to unlock the outfit. You can press on it and game says hey you have this much yellow points. You can buy this outfit with 200 purple plus we will take 200 yellow from you automaticaly. No conversion just buy it with it. So it removes the BS carry over shenanigans while still keeping eveyrthing the same. Just now your yellow points can be used for blue points too. No nonsense conversion just hey you dont have enough so we will take yellow points. (but you cant transfer yellow to blue or purple it only does so when you try to purchase the thing)
The currency can be seen EXACTLY like battlepass EXPERIENCE in other games. They just made it a currency because you do not unlock from left to right but you pick and choose, if they kept the name EXP and not CURRENCY no one would complain as this works exactly the same in any other game. In what can you grind EXP for a battlepass thats not even out yet?.. Go outside instead of worrying about nothing important or of value.
I don’t think he understands what the currency is when he talks about it. Chrono tokens are BATTLEPASS ONLY. They are not used for anything else. Also they are super easy to earn, like incredibly easy. Letting you keep them would basically fully unlock the next battlepass which completely throws off progression. The point of making them easy to get is so everyone can finish their battlepass and others they may have bought in previous seasons, also at the end it auto uses all the ones you have before the season ends so you get your value. It really isn’t that big of a deal and the only way to reasonably fix this is to make chrono tokens harder to get but you keep them (this is not a great alternative). And if you are thinking “why don’t they change it into currency you can use to buy stuff from the store” this is why, the game would fail. That simple. It wouldn’t make money. The game is free. There is no pay to win. All the characters are free. You can even earn units for free which you can use to buy skins from the shop. How do you expect this game to make any money. Money also = content. If a game can’t make money, then it will die. K I’m done now 😅
Asmond isn’t taking into consideration the opportunity cost. If the game only makes money through cosmetic purchases. Then they have to sell them. If the battlepass is a player engagement tool that lets people get skins for $5 or $10 at a discount in a bundle for putting time into the game it’s good. But if players can stock pile coins into future seasons, it lowers the proposition value of the $5-$10 pass because people won’t be engaging with the game as much in future seasons when the release new things. It benefits me personally to have the system the way it is. It’s not a marvel rivals toxic fanboy behavior to think of it this way. Stockpiling the tokens would be cool and great, but I feel like that’s degen behavior, and to be upset about it when the value proposition for me as a consumer is weird. like total playtime vs playtime in a season. i don’t see how hurting the games long term player engagement is good for a game I enjoy playing. It seems more like a net negative to me that people I have to play with would play the game less.
Bruh this is so common in other games 🤦🏻♂️ , only thing is in other games they call that as seasonal xp/coin/token . When the season is over you can't use that previous seasonal currency in the new season. This guy just made it a big deal just because they didn't call that as seasonal tokens 🤣🤣🤣
Is it common in other games for battlepass currency to pass into next season for people who bought it with real money, and not for those who grinded it? The answer is no, by the way.
🤣🤦🏻♂️, this is the problem you guys are unable to understand the difference between the reward coins from battlepass and battlepass XP tokens @Lurker_Z
7:00 THEY HAVE TO RESET. or come out with a new currency for the next battle pass. OTHERWISE you can neglect one battle pass, then next one rolls out and you buy everything, and then get a wave of people complaining they bought everything day one. you know they would...
The reason is that they don't want people to instantly unlock the entirety of a new battlepass. The point is to artificially make the "content" last longer by forcing players to grind for the new rewards; most likely in an attempt to increase player retention.
Ah yes the old trade and true, lets make things inconvenient to artificially expand the players enjoyment of the game. Brah, this is old news and is dying quick, hope the game sticks with this and slowly bleed out like OW did. Edit: Just logged in and its hilarious how bad some of you are shilling for this, You cant even go to the second page w/o buying the pass. So inherently this is only hurting paying customers to begin with. Ya'll need some help.
@@ToxicFume The Hela Skin is free. And so are some other items along side a bit of lattice and units. All the maps and characters are free. Whats the problem ? Literally 95% of the game is free.
4:30 I think you're missing what hes saying hes saying that yes it's a free game they need to make money but then exchanging it for a battlepass token that disappears with no compensation and if you dont own the luxury pass then thats gone without rewards thats money wasted and in a way stolen
The reason it zeros out your chrono tokens is because it uses what you have to purchase them because otherwise you could save it all season then jext battle pass have everything unlocked day 1 which would mean people not playing as much since they don't have the BP to grind for
In Marvel Rivals there is Lattice, the gold currency that you get by paying real money and use to get the luxury battlepass and can also be exchanged for Units and Chronotokens. Then there is Units, the blue currency gained from the battlepass and earned from event missions and can be used in the store to buy skins and bundles. And finally there is Chronotokens, the purple currency functioning as a XP system for unlocking items in the battlepass such as sprays, emotes, nameplates, MVP animations, skins and small amounts of Lattice and Units and can also be earned in large amounts from Daily Missions, Challenges and Season Events. Now any Chronotokens earned for free by completing missions will be reset at the start of a new season, but any Chronotokens gained via exchange of Lattice (real money) will NOT be reset as long as the amount of paid Chronotokens is not used by the automatic battlepass redeem system.
He's annoyed that chronotokens get autospent and removed at the end of the season. After the helldives warbond system, most battlepasses feel bad in comparison.
@@adeeshadeegala5900 Chronotokens you paid for doesn't get removed, you just get them refunded, Stylosa's video is just awful and offers little to no research. He just explains what a battlepass is like a man discovering fire in 2003
This isn't the issue Asmon thinks it is. It's simply they don't want people to buy the next seasons battlepass and complete it instantly. The Chrono Tokens aren't currency, they're XP. For once I disagree with Asmon 😢
It’s actually genius that they made all the battle pass rewards purchasable with cash. A ton of people will just buy them for the immediate gratification of owning the skin first and being able to use it before anyone else. So much better than Overwatch 💯
If tokens carried over then that means people don’t have to play seasons at all. Just unlock everything in the first 5mins. How much of a smooth brain do you have to be to have an issue with that?? It’s completely logical to understand that you have to play each season to get that seasons rewards. Not “play 1 season, farm tokens, buy all awards for the next 5 seasons without playing”.. cmon now guys 😑. Chrono tokens are literally just battlepass XP. Why is it called currency? That was their decision idk, that’s what’s causing this confusion. They should rename it to BP XP, literally every game with a BP does this.
I disagree, as you saw in the video, the guy has 4.5k BP points like he can buy the whole thing with a week left. It is REALLY easy to progress the BP, if the point's didn't reset, I would have the next BP completed already. Which isn't good for me because I wouldn't care to do the challenges as much. If they changed it so it doesn't reset, they would have to lower how much BP points you get, which is worse for the player as they have to either play everyday of the Pass or spend money. also, this is just a normal BP. the chrome points is just BP points but in currency form, prob just for simplicity. I also don't know of many BPs that give you BP points u bought in future seasons. The fact is, You can still get a lot of BP stuff without paying, Price and point system is similar to all other BP. I also heard about going back to previous BP in the future and with how much extra Chrome points I have, I don't need them to carry over. I think this is a great system for player retention, makes my progress feel important but if i miss something i go back later and get it (no fomo).
Soooo do people want them to give us just the perfect amount of chronotokens through the season to finish the battle pass and have no wiggle room for missing a daily? Because they could’ve done that. As it is now you can miss some dailies and still finish the pass. I get the complaints but I think it’s dumb and fine how it is
Aren’t the chrono tokens just the season exp 💀? The bp doesn’t go away and u can unlock all the stuff after the season ends as long as u have the legacy one. Chrono tokens are earned during missions which u can use to buy the stuff u missed in the past season. Bro making an issue out of nothing 💀 Chrono tokens are just the exp u use to unlock the items in the battlepass. It’s not that deep. It’s just the exp. If u even look at other battlepasses, it’s the same shit. This whole thing, is just a flat out misunderstanding of how the system works. Them deleting chrono tokens is just them removing the ability to blow throw the next battlepass with that stored exp. AGAIN. Chrono tokens aren’t a currency, they’re basically just exp. It’s legit not that deep. If ur f2p. Why tf r u complaining. U get to play all the heroes FOR FREE. If u want to support the game, u spend money. Stylosa, love u bro, but I think ur just misunderstanding how the system works man One more time for the people in the back. CHRONO TOKENS ARE JUST THE EXP USED TO UNLOCK THE ITEMS IN THE BATTLEPASS. name a single other battlepass in the space that allows for u to take over the excess exp from the past season and insta unlock the stuff in the next battlepass. I guarantee you there aren’t many that do that
"i doNt sEe anYtHiNg ThaT iS hElPiNg ThE PlAyEr" yes because they are making a business, for someone who fancies themselves an intellectual this person has a hard time understanding simple concepts like "not everything is to benefit the player some things are to benefit the company"
If a business's monetization strategy is bad for consumers then it's a bad form of monetization plain and simple. Businesses should exist to serve a market, not to exploit the consumers. We need to stop normalizing businesses profiting at the customer's detriment.
Braindead take, it's extremely rare that you can access old battle passes you've paid for in any game, however instead we're complaining about a system that probably 95%+ of all games operate with, Do you just need to nitpick??
8:00 also a better solution would be to use XP instead of tokens, since XP wouldent transfer to the new season. since theres multiple passes though, XP would unlock both the old and new pass simultaneousely, which would also be good since players wont get stuck with 5 unfinished passes
Yeah its not a scam. Purple tokens are basically re-skined xp and battle pass xp in games are not controversal, if you buy purple tokens with latice they will pitty you by not taking them away, and its a no problem situation if you "main" this game. You get cucked if you hard grind the game, and dont really earn much if you dont mainly play the game. I dont see the hate for other games for gaining xp for battle pass levels and thats what sits wrong with me to target MV for this system. (although it would be amazing if they change it to better us) I wont complain
This is the same system helldivers uses, except the battle passes don't go away. Also you buy skins with blue and gold coins, not purple. Purple only goes into the battle pass. Purple is the only one that goes away
So, let me see... First we were unsatisfied with games costing $50 to play forever. Then we got mad that they were free and pay to win Then we got mad that they were free and had confusing or predatory monetization Then we got mad that an amazing game is completely free to play with no pay to win but with completely voluntary vanity items --because the devs are using fear of missing out to push people to buy the completely voluntary vanity items???? We've come a long way, dudes!
This is such a smooth brained take. It is obviously reset so that people want to play and do challenges in the next battlepass aswell. Some people enjoy "having missions" while playing, such as to gain enough chronotokens to buy the next thing on the battlepass. Battlepass isn't supposed to be a chore, but a challenge for you to complete and for you to have things to be rewarded with. Gaining enough points isn't an issue if you just play the game. It is made for active players of the game. It would clear everything up if they just made it so that after you have enough chronotokens to buy everything, you would stop gaining more untill the next battlepass begins. They don't want it so that you can collect them in advance. It would spoil the next battlepass. It's a game. It's not real. It's supposed to be fun little extra mission. fml
Is buying chrono tokens a stupid waste of your money? Sure. But for Christ's sake, they give you all the information you need to make an informed decision on the matter. You know how much time is left in the season, you know how many tokens you need to unlock each page of the pass, you know how many tokens each battle pass reward costs, and you know how many tokens you will get for the money you're willing to spend. So just...do some math before you spend your money... Tokens rolling over in to the next season would be great from a consumer perspective, but seasonal battle passes aren't just about money. They're also there to drive player engagement, so forcing players to start from scratch means they gotta keep playing to earn more tokens if they want the shiny new cosmetics in the shiny new battle pass.
I feel like Asmon is missing the mark here, no shirt that they reset your forkin' progress on a battlepass. At least this game lets people who buy battlepass levels keep their unused levels. Its actually incredibly simple and helps the poor souls who felt the need to buy a battle pass. The lesson is don't buy battlepass levels, just play the dang game.
I mean if you just look at the purple currency as Battle Pass EXP....once you complete the battlepass---any exp over is just going to dissappear at the next season. (besides the shit you bought with real money)
I am a pretty casual player who has already completed the pass. At this rate, I will have enough free chronos to buy the next season pass at release. I totally understand the reset. Maybe instead of a reset, just let people who have completed the battle pass not able to earn more then?
This feels like such a small complaint blown up for no reason. You have the 3 currencies lattice and units which stay every season and are used for costumes and getting the battlepass And then there’s chrono tokens only used for progressing battlepass. So if your not gonna get the battlepass why are you worried about the fomo of chrono tokens being reset. Use them up before end of season and finish it during a season you don’t plan to get or use extra from one you already finished.
I did notice the 3 different currencies. It felt really wierd to me too. The purple coins work like hell divers 2 currency. Then theres lattic, which is premium currency. And then theres... The blue tokens. For skins. You can earn all of them free but its just wierd you need tokens to buy currency to buy more currency. They need to just unify the currency. Kts obsfucating the actual cost of things. Skins are like 20$ a piece.
I haven't seen anyone compare this situation to Helldivers 2. You buy a "season pass" and you unlock it at your leisure. I assume people thought it was going to be like that. But now it's like taking all the players requisition slips from them each time a new warbond drops in Helldivers 2. It's nonsense.
It seems to be a type of coupon system. Anything earned in game would be technically a coupon with an expiration date and a stipulation. Anything you buy with money is something you purchased. It gives free to players the ability to play all characters but people who invest into the game the ability to get more
Idk bro they could always just make you pay 20$ or more per skin. in a currency you can only purchase, and you can’t earn from playing at all. You ever heard of riot points? Or csgo case gambling? just saying it could be a much more predatory and worse form of monetization.
As a lifelong Destiny player I know all about FOMO. I remember the initial launch saying battle pass content could still be bought whenever. But when they clarified that's not the case. You still have to buy it and it can just sit there. I wasn't surprised one bit. Maybe people are disliking the content of his argument and not him speaking it
I can explain how this will be benefitial, hear me out, these coins gets you stuff from the BP right, so if you can pile them up between season at one point you'll basically clear BP day 1, devs will notice and be like damn these ppl are clearing everything too fast and demanding more what do we do? We'll make it harder to get and piling up won't get you maxed day 1 great now no lifes can take 2 days to finish the BP 😂 But them comes the new players just got in never played it, they have a wife and a job, they WILL NEVER FINISH THE FKING BP because the no lifes bloated the number so fking high no one other than them will ever be able to clear it, simple
Well, did not see anyone mention this: The reason to wipe BP currency is to incentivize people playing the new season. The reason this is not a predatory practice is because it is a multiplayer game dependent on the volume of players. They have to incentivize playing because it is vital to the very life of the game. So, to me, it makes sense for them to say if you want the season skin (from the BP), we want you to actually play the season. Seems fair for a game that lives by its player population, in other words it does improve the player experience.
It’s not pro players, but not really anti player either. It’s not a big deal at all. At worst, “Oh no, we lose 1-3 challenges worth of exp coins but can work on previous bp whenever we want.” traaaaaaaagiiic. On a scale of this being proplayer being 10 and antiplayer being a 0, this is a 4.9~.
The clear problem is just that the battlepass XP _looks_ like currency. If they just called it XP instead of "tokens", then nobody would be angry about it. When the season ends, then you start over at level 0 in the next battlepass, which is how basically all battlepasses work. In that case, you're not losing any currency. You're just starting from the beginning like everyone else. And if you want to use premium currency to skip the grind, then so be it. The next problem is being able to grind/purchase more than the required amount of XP. Just stop the number when the battlepass is finished and you have enough XP to unlock everything. Also, don't allow the player to "convert" currencies. Only allow direct conversion of premium currency to unlocks so nothing is ever left over that would need to be carried over. The fix is basically just some minor UI tweaks. The system is mostly fine. It's just the naming scheme that's confusing people.
I don't play a lot of games with battle passes, so maybe how battle passes function has changed over time. In my experience though, it was basically an exp bar, and as you reach milestones you unlock a fixed set of rewards in a fixed order. Marvel Rivals lets you pick the rewards you want, and instead of EXP automatically collecting stuff at milestones, your exp is a currency you use towards what you want, with the option to buy exp to speed up the unlock process. From this viewpoint of course your exp coin would reset with each battlepass, because it was exp for that particular pass. So this system doesn't seem problematic to me at all but totally normal and reasonable. So I'm guessing the issue here isn't really the system but people's perception of the system. The company failed to frame the system in people's minds correctly so they came to the wrong conclusions and are now upset that the system doesn't work the way they thought it did.
the way i see it from what i understand, if you buy the battlepass, then you can use the surplus tokens you earn next season after getting everything to buy the stuff you missed from the previous pass, or in any order, so eventually you get everything anyways so after the first season battle pass everyone who plays a lot to have the surplus in the first place is going to get everything anyways. so imo it really is very much a non-issue, especially compared to its competitors...
Seems like a free to play issue… Like if you like what’s in the battle pass or any skin for whatever character buy it, just don’t buy the convergence currency because it’ll be auto spent season to season anyway. Prolly a China law thing, I wish a country’s rules didn’t affect a game launched for a world wide player base. Have this shit affect China, not players in Australia or America for example. Enforce the rules not mandate the rules. This usually happens with China’s gacha games for censorship. They don’t make multiple versions of a game, just one with their country’s standards in mind. I mean if you don’t buy anything you’re good anyway 🤣 But don’t think your free to play currency will mean anything if you save it. That has to change for players in other regions for sure
So this effectively keeps you from being able to buy stuff with your battle pass coin earnings... so as long as none of their skins are cheap enough for all the coin rewards in a battle pass to buy, and this process happens before the new battle pass starts, then basically you will only ever be able to get the most trivial stuff with it, and considering that they already fill most of the battle pass progression with sprays, emotes, and sticker or some other invisibly small trinkets (like all battle passes), then even those will be only the lowest quality options... I need to see how this is going to pan out cuz this sounds ridiculous...
how to solve this. Convert the earned tokens at the end of the season to some other new currency that can be spent on any previous battle passes. Then when you spend them on older rewards it uses that currency first and the chrono tokens second where the chrono tokens are still used for the current battle pass.
When you think of the purple currency as BP experience, it makes total sense for it to reset. They could've easily made it XP, locked content to BP levels and you unlock them with progress. With this purple currency, players will have the option to unlock whatever they like instead so the progression is a bit more free compared to level locked version. It's confusing though, could've been easily something else other than a currency and they'd have given people the option to purchase content off the BP one by one if they want with Lattice instead.
Look, if you're paying money to pass battlepass levels, you're weird.
Or just filthy rich, like streamers

It’s not my weirder than buying digital cosmetics with real money.
And if you aren't, you're broke. Isn't that how this argument goes?
They just want players to grind out each seasons battle pass and not just unlock everything at the start with the previous seasons xp. I don’t see how this is a big deal and I feel like people are just getting confused.
Yeah, it's not problematic at all. Purple tokens are just xp anyway.

i agree but i still think they should let you keep the extra stuff that you grinded for, if you unlock the whole battlepass and grind even more, those points shouldn't be taken away period.

Why do they have to disappear at all?
@@carmenjohnson1834cuz the battle pass literally works in a “earn this amount to get the next set of rewards” so anyone with a brain should’ve figured that they were gonna reset long time ago
@ I really don’t understand why the best response to this question always seems to be something along the lines of “because that’s the way it is”.
Exactly
Its kind of stupid that these games are doing this but atleast it won't affect the gameplay. People have to just grind more for chrono tokens.
I'm glad you are able to see right through it, I was also thinking them tokens were just like exp in Fortnite, Cod and etc.
"IT'S SO COMPLICATED"
It's literally not, man.
Exactly
@marlinmurrell620 it makes perfect sense to allow people to purchase pass xp with real money, because some people want the content but don't play often and are willing to pay. There's nothing in the structure that prevents people from easily earning all the content without spending more than the pass cost.
@@beezerk4509Even better. If you do buy the battle pass you can still complete it.
I had enough points to buy the entire pass week 2. I have about 2000 leftover with 10 days left to earn tons more. This entire video is dumb, he usually has a better understanding of things imo but not this
@jmase19 same this is legit one of the simplest f2p + battle pass setups I've ever seen
Edit:
- As someone pointed out in the comments, you can do "Practice vs AI" to finish missions and collect PURPLE credits as well as BLUE credits to make it as easy as possible to catch up without risking getting bullied by a sweaty player which would prevent you from completing missions and waste your time per match.
This is barely an issue.
Smooth brains like the guy from the video and asmon believing what the guy is saying is frustrating
yea i dont see an issue
ok but what happens when you buy 500 purple currency that you end the season with. then, you get to 1500 in the next season and spend 1000 of it. will it prioritize spending your f2p earned currency?
@@danieltafoya9841 the same way you use xp to claim the battle pass lol what are you on about, the one you use to buy the skins in the store is the blue stuff
No it fucking isn't. It's currency if it's what you use to buy things.
@@danieltafoya9841 No, only claim items for Battle pass
Why would battlepass XP carry over to the next battlebass? What game does this? It even tells you that the tokens reset every season on the battlepass upgrade page. This token thing is a result of letting you select what you want from the pass by giving you coins instead of levels. The side effect of coins is "banking levels" which isint possible in most passes, and breaks the engagment system of seasons and passes if it didint start fresh (like every other pass) Doing it this way is arguably the most player friendly version of a battlepass I have played.
Its not even a scam if you overspend in ignorance because you retain the tokens you spent real money on.

1) Asmongold is not siding with or against the video. There is section he is agreeing with and sections he is clowning on.... The narrative i see some people are making and ignoring all the other remark is silly.
(not to the point where the entity declare bankruptcy or End of service lmao (some union strikes push too hard like Car union only for everyone to lose their job because the company declared bankruptcy lol funny)
3) There is a bais that people should be aware that the video we are watching with asmon is from a person what generally plays OW2 and dirrect competitor to Marvel rival. And OW 2 has its own share of scandal but yet it was never mention. but in defense of them they have made remarks of OW2 poor pricing and anti consumerism.... BUT THIS BRINGS ME TO POINT 4
4) we the consumers knows every business is out to make money and they all deploy anti consumerism tactic... not a single game doesnt preform 1 or the other....
TLDR) LOL nothings gonna change deal with it... Unless (we need something better than a ceo hunter we need a world government hunter lol) (world upper class hunter)

You play for 5 euros not for free.
@Entertainment-zh7rt that's my choice. I can play for 200 if I want. But what is given to me, game wise, is all free.

Lattice that turn into chrono token will be sent back to you via mail in the new season. Why aren’t they reading. No fomo you can unlock the previous battle pass skin in the new season as well. Just need to grind the chrono token
I knew this without even reading anything. Plus only children, idiots, or people without the time to play enough pay to progress battle passes.
This is just like in Fortnite where you have stars for levels and they reset every season
And in Fortnite you can buy those 100 stars to complete the battle pass too and nobody complains because it’s fair
I think the problem is how it was framed. The video made it seem like your v-bucks (equivalent) was being reset every season which would be a reasonable thing to be pissed about. It was even more egregious bc they claimed that the only "v bucks" that wouldn't be deleted are ones you paid for with real money.
@@siegebot82
Exactly, what people are seemingly misunderstanding is that chronotokens are NOT the equivalent of vbucks- they’re the equivalent of EXP.

(IT'S JUST A BATTLEPASS, JUST SKINS)
The guy in the Video didn't explained it very well and made it very dramatic as it is tbh, because there is not enough people who are mad about it and understand why the developpers are dooing this.

The reason you can collect more BP currency than is required to complete the BP is because if you happen to not complete it you can use the excess to complete a previous battle pass. There is no reason to buy excess BP coins but in the future there will be. Them resetting literally means nothing as it is just xp to complete the battlepass(es).
2:44 Meanwhile, Blizzard releases Overwatch "2" and is like "pay for the new charcter or grind". I don't even know how it was with OW1 characters (I think you'd have to play some 10 games to unlock someone, but I wouldn't know). Took them till some time early this year to realize that's a stupid idea, especially in a game built around counter-swapping.
Remainder that asmongold defended OW 2 monetization.
In OW1, it was crazy my dude. Because you paid for the game, you got every new character for FREE. WILD RIGHT!?
@@ChaoticGoodPeasant23 Some of these skins cost twice as much as The Witcher 3, or the same price as Red Dead Redemption 2. It should be unfathomable that a skin cost more than those games imo. I just wish I could pay a fair price to unlock everything, $100-200 I'll pay, but not $500 or thousands it's just crazy. There's other games to play
in OW1 all charcter were free
@@ChaoticGoodPeasant23 well not free, you have to buy the game. In rivals you atually get everyone free and you can also get most of the battlepass stuff for free
For example
If you bought 100 purple coins, and end the season with 150, then you keep 100.
If you bought 100 tokens and you end the season with 50, then you keep 50.
Your free battle pass xp gets spent on the battle pass at seasons end and then reset. I dont see any problems with any of it.
The only equivalent to this in hell divers would be if you lost medals
or super credit when they introduce a new war bond and hell divers doesn’t do either of those things

@@theredpillneo2296 it's not that I'm defending the company, the system is really good for players but it's not well portrayed and that's why people are mad, it's cause they are misunderstanding how the battlepass works and yes that is their fault for not portraying it in a simpler manner
So I'm gonna explain it, the reason why we are having this huge "problem" and the reason the community is so split is because, like you, some people are looking at Chrono tokens as CURRENCY which they are NOT, they are battle pass experience
Let me explain further did you ever see anyone in any game, let's say... Fortnite, complain about how the exp you should've gained after finishing the pass NEEDED to carry over to the next season (whether they have the free or paid)? NO, ofc not because that's stuff is stupid and that's basically what you guys are doing
The only difference here is that they allow us to choose what we want to unlock first instead of a linear progression, that's literally it! The rest is just a normal battle pass so obviously the exp is gonna get reset!
But yes it is their fault for not communicating this properly and causing so much confusion, if they gave you exp instead and inside a little menu in the battlepass you could exchange it for tokens none of this would've happen

In overwatch 1 you could save up coins and lootboxes for years before they switched to ow2

(Ohh and mods exist so i guess if the skin you want isnt in the game u might find it as a mod which comes free)
well it's fine if other games do that, but Marvel rivals shouldnt' be allowed to
Marvel rivals is supposed to be new and different
Yeah battlepasses suck but they're not going anywhere unfortunately and F2P games need to make money to stay up and running but this is most definitely NOT a scam.
of course he doing it for engagement on nothing burger
Helldivers 2 ones do. And they don't expire. They just took that system and made it worse.
@ashenlion805 yeah they chose a different set of controversies also Helldivers 2 is not F2P it's a paid game, which makes it worse honestly.
The misunderstanding stems from labeling xp as currencies. It's not that complicated to understand.
love turning nothing into something...

@@ashenlion805 It really isn't

Why are people acting like it's anything else
The reason is that they don't want people to instantly unlock the entirety of a new battlepass. The point is to artificially make the "content" last longer by forcing players to grind for the new rewards; most likely in an attempt to increase player retention.
Ah yes the old trade and true, lets make things inconvenient to artificially expand the players enjoyment of the game. Brah, this is old news and is dying quick, hope the game sticks with this and slowly bleed out like OW did.

0:27 lmao don’t say that Fortnite will GIVE you a skin
Reminds me of that tragedy

They're copying the Fortnite model of BP Stars. That's why it's a currency, because it works, and gives the illusion of choice.
Bro making an issue out of nothing 💀
Chrono tokens are just the exp u use to unlock the items in the battlepass. It’s not that deep. It’s just the exp. If u even look at other battlepasses, it’s the same shit. This whole thing, is just a flat out misunderstanding of how the system works. Them deleting chrono tokens is just them removing the ability to blow throw the next battlepass with that stored exp.

One more time for the people in the back. CHRONO TOKENS ARE JUST THE EXP USED TO UNLOCK THE ITEMS IN THE BATTLEPASS. name a single other battlepass in the space that allows for u to take over the excess exp from the past season and insta unlock the stuff in the next battlepass. I guarantee you there aren’t many that do that
purple tokens resetting makes sense cuz its bp exclusive now if it was gold/blue tokens that would be obviously a scam

Is asmon intentionally being stupid here? Yes obviously they're not going to delete tokens people bought. That would be outrageous.
How
Yeah its not a scam.
I find it funny how no one’s mentioning the FOMO aspect of the serials from the event of the season
This is the same system helldivers uses, except the battle passes don't go away.
Also you buy skins with blue and gold coins, not purple. Purple only goes into the battle pass. Purple is the only one that goes away
"You lose the purple tokens" ok? Who thought you'd keep them? It's just a currency equivalent to Battlepass xp. Ifc they'd reset at the end
So, let me see...
First we were unsatisfied with games costing $50 to play forever.
Then we got mad that they were free and pay to win
Then we got mad that they were free and had confusing or predatory monetization
Then we got mad that an amazing game is completely free to play with no pay to win but with completely voluntary vanity items --because the devs are using fear of missing out to push people to buy the completely voluntary vanity items????
We've come a long way, dudes!
fr 😂 ppl buy a monkey role playing game. but then again it’s the highschoolers who don’t have a job complaining
And one day there hopefully won't be fomo.
It's supposed to be fun little extra mission. fml
China #1. Idk, didn't watch.
Damn Asmongold is getting old and confused easily. This is not complicated it's very simple
He is trolling 😂
The lesson is don't buy battlepass levels, just play the dang game.
the most nothing shit in the world
I mean if you just look at the purple currency as Battle Pass EXP....once you complete the battlepass---any exp over is just going to dissappear at the next season.
You have the 3 currencies lattice and units which stay every season and are used for costumes and getting the battlepass
And then there’s chrono tokens only used for progressing battlepass.
We'll make it harder to get and piling up won't get you maxed day 1 great now no lifes can take 2 days to finish the BP 😂
But them comes the new players just got in never played it, they have a wife and a job, they WILL NEVER FINISH THE FKING BP because the no lifes bloated the number so fking high no one other than them will ever be able to clear it, simple
I mean if you don’t buy anything you’re good anyway 🤣
But don’t think your free to play currency will mean anything if you save it.
I'm fine with battle passes _but_ you should be able to buy and complete them at your leisure. Get rid of fomo bs.
