You can also use an old phone as a dash cam so no need to spend extra cash on that hardware. Just get a charing cable adapter for it and plug it into your car. Then turn on video recording before you take off. Keep old tech out of land fills by finding daily uses for them.

  • @reneec.6038

I really wanted this phone even despite it being 5 years old. For that reason, I decided to buy it brand new from China. It's because I wanted the pink version of the Note 8 which is only sold in Asia but it works amazingly. Simply put, I love it.
Samsung's Note line has been my favorite ever since they came out with the Note 8 and over the last couple years I've had Notes 8,9,10, and 20, but ultimately decided on the Note 8.
Personally, just for me and what I do on a phone, the Note 8 is just fine.
Aside from the small version of the Note 10, the Note 8 is the lightest version of this series in regards to weight and I like that since I'm not too fond of heavy phones or heavy tech in general. I always go for lightweight. Also, I love having the option of the headphone jack in addition to using wireless earbuds. Since I save tons of music and photos and use a SD card, having the ability of external expandable storage is also neat. And lastly, the s-pen. Some people find it gimmicky, but I use it a lot especially since I like digital art. The s-pen will always be my reason for sticking with the Note phone probably for forever.
I also game a little but am definitely no heavy gamer on my phone (I have a tablet for that), and most of the ones I do play are ones that don't take up much battery or require the latest software so my battery life is pretty solid. However, it is probably the only drawback but I was willing to make the purchase of this phone because of all the things I would get out of it as mentioned above.
There are tons of videos on TH-cam that show you how to save battery on androids so I use those to get max battery life. Also, during the day I just use the "power mode" feature to get the most use out of it and for additional backup, I keep my little portable battery charger with me.
I think when it comes to whether or not the phone is worth buying in 2022 depends on what you want out of the phone. Like I said, for me, personally, the phone is great. As I've mentioned I've had all the notes and yet I came back to the Note 8 because it was my favorite one out out them all.

Watching this while I upgrade to a s22 or some sorts. I’m kinda sad, I’ve had this phone longer than any other phone. It’s become so close to me. I didn’t think I’d get attach to it like I have but it’s slowed down, low space and is starting to show its age. It’s time and it’s crazy how well this phone has held up

  • @eurosonly
    @eurosonly 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Absolutely love this phone. It still feels modern and snappy. I've only had the black screen of death issue 3 times but other than that, no screen urn in or lines or any type of ghosting. I have a battery pack case on mine so I get about 18 hours of screen on time. It's still got a headphone jack and USB c. It lags a bit but I've never had a phone that didn't. I have a 13 pro max and that lags from time to time. I love how you can swipe to the right from the home button to flip back and forth between apps and the Bixby button can be rebound to other functions. I've returned my S22 ultra because it doesn't have the Bixby button and you have to double tap the recent button to flip back to the previous app which is a painfor people with smaller than large fingers. Technology doesn't last all that well so it's not worthwhile spending thousands of dollars on some new phone. Wait a year or two and get a used one with a battery case to enjoy newer software updates. I'm going to hold onto this thing for as it's supported for.

I don't think this guy understands the reason people search up these videos and thus he has no idea what metrics he should be measuring in order to determine whether to recommend the phone or not. People buy these phones because they're faaaar superior to new budget phones that are at the prices that you could get a note 8,9, or 10.
If you find this phone for around 200 USD then go for it, it's a deal among deals and I literally could not give you a reason to buy a new budget phone as compared to getting this instead

Even if I switched to s21 last month I still keep the phone with me. Also if someone could help me, my new s21 5g phone's keyboard seems to have a different layout when switching to the numbers or special characters section. I got used to note 8 keyboard when switching to the special characters where it just change the letters of the keyboard to the special characters while keeping the keyboard layout. My s21 however made is so its in this weird calculator like format where I have to scroll down to chooss. It's stupid. I hope someone kind enough could help me with this lol.

The Note series particularly the Note 9 (with 512GB and SD slot as well that could take total storage beyond 1TB) cost significantly less than todays S22 Ultra 1TB model. Apart from latest CPU, current Android version, 120Hz display refresh rate, and better cameras what do you get for the money? You lose about 10 features / benefits. The Note series was always a productivity device and removing features that I use everyday just doesn't cut it. How often does an average worker need the use of fancy cameras? However as someone who works in industry with gloves, iris scan works best for unlocking - face Id and finger print scans are not feasible. MST is still in use where I shop. LED notifications are great. I could go on and on. Why did Samsung have to remove the features that made the Note series a unique best seller while bumping up the price? Because there are enough customers who are new to the Galaxy range and dont know how much the current devices have been scaled down in the search for profits.

Last year I changed the battery since it was degraded, but other than that it still feel just as good as the day I bought it. The camera is as good as most mid range phone is 2022. I will keep this phone until it breaks or till 5g comes to my home town. I do not see the point of upgrading to a new phone until then. Games are just as good as most flagship today. Usually I switched phones around 2 to 3 years. Note 8 has been with me until today since it's release making the 1st longest phone I ever had without switching. It has everything I ever needed in a phone and more and I won't even consider the upcoming s22 if it's not because of the battery issue my note 8 is having right now

same, it's the longest phone I've had without switching, I'd say the Note 3 or 4 are the most important smartphones I've ever had but this one achieved what none have. But as I said in another post, the battery issues, the charging issues, the rebooting and just feeling this phone is about to die any minute now have forced me to order my S22 Ultra. I still wish I could have waited one more year for those super charging batteries to finally come.

not sure if I like this video or not, I feel it is a little unfair in some cases. I feel I should chat about the software updates....okay it is stuck on android 9, but really so what? It can still install and run all the apps. Its not like Android 9 suddently became unusable. You talk about future apps may not work....you could say that about any phone......even that latest phone at some point wont run an app. however even my note 4 can still access and run all the apps (though yes it lags quite a bit in some games and apps). Also if you really want a newer os, you can you can install a custom Android 11 or 12 rom. Its just not official.
Speed wise, its fast enough to run VR and can still handle any current app (okay newer phones, may load them in a bit faster, possible a slightly higher framerate on games like fortnite, but this can still play them well..
One thing you fail to take into account is cost. Obviously if you have the money, then buy a newer better phone, however if you have a limited budget. This phone can still do it all.

My phone a N9 is still going strong after nearly 4 years of daily heavy use. Battery issues are minimised if one uses their phone smartly. Power Management - I dont need the setting to be at maximum performance when at work (using calls, blue tooth, data, emails). I keep the setting during the work day at medium power setting. After work, listening to music or browsing You tube, news etc is under Optimised setting. High performance setting while playing a game or watching a video on the weekends. I comfortably get a full day plus spare. I use a 15W adaptive fast charger at night that charges up in about 1.5 hrs or so.

On a certain level, we have a drug store in our note 8, the neurochemicals that show up in flow: so dopamine, norepinephrine, anandamide, endorphins, and serotonin. If you were to try to cocktail the street drug version of that, right, you're trying to blend like heroin and speed and coke and acid and weed- and point is, you can't do it. It turns out the note 8 can cocktail all of 'em at once, which is why people will prefer flow to almost any experience on Earth. It's our favorite experience. It's the most addictive experience on Earth. Why? 'Cause it cocktails five or six of the largest pleasure drugs the note 8 can produce. We're all capable of so much more than we know. That is a commonality across the board. And one of the big reasons is we're all hardwired for flow, and flow is a massive amplification of what's possible for ourselves.
