  • Scania's new Eco-roll function will help customers in Europe reduce fuel use when it becomes available in early 2014.
The feature, which chooses optimal times for trucks to roll downhill in neutral, will be available from the first quarter 2014 to European customers who purchase a truck fitted with Scania Opticruise and Scania Active Prediction. Eco-roll promises to cut fuel use by up to two percent, depending on the terrain in which a vehicle is travelling.

Hello Scania! Truck Driver pro is here. Your eco driving system is only useful when driving at night when you are alone on the road and you are not disturbing anyone driving behind you. Which is what we see in your video.
You should show what the view from the driver's cabin looks like when driving a fully loaded popular Scania R450 with the eco-driving system activated, for example on the highway between Lille and Paris in France. Small mountains, heavy truck traffic. There are a lot of such "economical" drivers who you lean on at a speed of 70 km/h on the hill. Then dangerous situations constantly arise, overtakes begin, chaos begins in the established flow. The probability of a traffic accident is greatly increased!
The manual for your eco drive system should state in large letters NOT TO USE THE ECO DRIVE SYSTEM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC!
Good luck with development and more testing.

Why Eco roll save fuel like when you are in gear the engene use no fuel and when you are in netural the engene use fuel ? Where is the point?

That if you keep the engine engaged, while it may not use fuel it can slow down the truck

How do I use this system to keep all 5 stars at 100%? Had 100% coming down a hill and it dropped off to 60% for some reason. Then went back up to 85% for no apparent reason.... very curious as to how this works. Please explain or link a video. Thanks.

I drove a 69 plate with this technology! If nothing on the road, it's brilliant! Trouble is, if u don't know 'it' is guna slow down by 6mph before the brow of a hill! Especially when u flashed in by truck u overtaking to pull in and 'it' loses power!!!!! Very dangerous!!! In an accident, who goes to jail? As the truck thought it a good idea to slow down and cause truck behind to take avoiding action!!! Needs a radar at the rear, so 'it' knows it can't slow down as vehicle too close behind! But from a manufacturer and bosses point, it saves money in fuel! From a drivers point, too much tech!!!! Just let me drive!!!!!!

Surely you enjoy not knowing what your truck will do ? I had an overspeed infringement today because my truck went into neutral at 56 mph. I was concentrating on traffic. Ended up at 60 mph.brilliant !

@@terrystratford1235. My usual daf gives false alarms which scare me to death for bridges , railings and road signs. That's when I remember to turn off the auto emergency break system. When i don't remember, it'll stop me dead in live traffic at random including once on the M5 for a shadow/overhead bridge combination. Emergency stop at 56 mph . Most exciting! Coffee all over the cab. Not so much fun for the truck behind me. Of course the usual 'nothing wrong that we can find' from the daf garage. this applies to the entire new fleet of ten trucks. All less than a year old and all stopping at random. It's going to end in tears. Give me an old truck with a clutch pedal , a gear stick and none of the dangerous interference / eco roll any day. Best wishes!

@@TakeItFromMe. all this tech is cos drivers have fallen asleep or not concentrated on driving! Brilliant if u drive tired, drunk or drugged, on the phone, reading a map or a medical issue!
