Its why i loved the black star dragon ball saga in GT. I liked the show finally feeling like an adventure. Just random sheneniganery. DBZ lost that after namek so like 2/3 of the show is missing that magic. Stramgely the eps that give me that the most in Z are filler episodes. Which is kinda annoying.
i feel like they could had just extended the previous OG dragonball then mess with dbs's canon to make it happen. It could had been like a extra side story to the OG series

Og DB is arguably the best DB series, like not even close, but... I wouldn't really call Daima a breath of fresh air when GT exists and it's literally more Dragon Ball ish than Z and S put together will ever be. The only thing I see in Daima is just yet another DB based money grabbing machine.
I hope the series turns out good but my expectations are beyond low, I'm not making up my mind about it without finishing the series tho... these are just first impressions.

I find it so beautiful that toriyamas last published televised work will be dragon ball daima. It’s like a symbolic cycle: started off as kid goku and ending with kid goku. Time-wise representing the inevitable cycle of life and death, but storytelling-wise symbolizing immortality. 💜

Honestly I love how it look like it going back to rudimentary martial arts. The fights here are engaging with it’s environment and simple. I like that.
yeah those were honestly one of the best parts of og db. simple martial arts duels. while earth-shattering battles are also pretty cool, these types of fights are pretty great too. i loved seeing goku beat up those thugs or whatever with utensils whilst also trying to eat his food

Toei just finished a Dragon Quest anime too, it looks just like this.
The animation is beautiful. It's insane people are not loving this. They'll look at this in a much different life knowing this is Toriyama's final work.
You can tell he wanted this to be special for the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
I prefer the character design for Goku in the OG one, but otherwise this looks nice

Honestly, seeing Goku using actual martial arts may be the most exciting Dragon Ball thing I've seen in years 😂
Hopefully they flesh out and animate deliberate, bespoke, and cool, high quality fight choreography.
Instead of looping the same 5 images over and over.

@@hm12-i I mean, sure. He throws punches and kicks. But it doesn't matter. It hasn't mattered since the beginning of Z. It's power levels, beam struggles, color coded transformations, eventually just "You're a Saiyan or you're irrelevant." It doesn't matter how well honed Krillin's techniques are, or how cleverly he uses them, because his number is almost always smaller than the other guy's number. Winning a fight isn't about getting better at your balance or your form, it's about unlocking the next new powerup to beat the powerup that the other guy just unlocked. Even when Goku is clashing with someone physically, they rarely talk about how refined his technique is, just about how fast he's moving...which is directly tied to power level.
I'm not saying the fighting was ever even vaguely grounded in reality. Goku being superhumanly strong and one punching people was always central to the gag that originally defined the show. But him fighting with actual, discernable moves as opposed to just spamming ki blasts is indeed a breath of fresh air.

Technique and martial arts skill never actually made any difference if you paid attention to the fights because Goku or the main antagonist would just copy and counter it and you'll never see it again

NGL the franchise needed this. More storyline and plots and adventures. Im getting final fantasy vibes. And slowed down but exciting hand to hand combat was much appreciated. The overpower ups screaming blurry fights kind of get old even though we still watch. So glad theyre doing this🐉🌕⚡️
I just pray Nozawa-san makes it through the whole series with no health issues. I am so looking forward to this series and watching it with my son and daughter who also love dragon ball.

I hope Toriyama didn't pass believing everyone hated this show before it even came out, it looks amazing. OG Dragon Ball was always my Favorite and i was and still am so looking forward to this show. 68 was way too young, he still had so much to create and i know people would of loved every bit of it.
This is Toriyama's final project..which he kept a secret from us and he was going to release this in 40th anniversary of dragonball series .. so let's appreciate his great work and thank him for making our child awesome and manly 🗿..RIP akira Toriyama 🥀

First time i watched dragon ball, it was around 1994/1995 and i was 7 yo. The tv never broadcasted all episodes. Few years later they began broadcasting DBZ, and that when i became a fan, i grew up watching all episodes, cheering for goku, gohan, vegeta... laughing with Mr. Satan (or Hercules)... Not forgeting to mention all video games such as SNES, PS1, PS2....

OG DB has the best martial arts of any of the DB shows, and I love the exploration during the Emperor Pilaf and Red Ribbon arcs. And both the King Piccolo as well as Piccolo Jr. fights deliver the spectacular fights that would later define DBZ.

I literally bought my 1st dragon ball comic in 1988. Am 42 yo now. How i was so fascinated with little goku adventures at that time, Daima is something that am Longing for along long time. Ive gotta say, the purity of goku, the naifness, the silliness, eat anything that meets the drolling mouth. THIS IS IT.

No internet nothing, always visited book store to check if new comic already published or not, most of the time i left with empty handed. Its always been like this until i finished the 42nd comic, when i was in high school.
@@REV_RED942 Super and tournament of power really put me in a Mehh. It just about fight fight and ridiculous colors tranformations, Not so much comical, adventure, funny story like the OG DragonBall, Red ribbon saga, picollo saga, freeza and saiyan saga, cell saga and the final, Bhu saga.
Just started rereading the Dragonball manga again and the choreography and style really takes me back to that era

You mean for the first 13 chapters or so, and then immediately turning into a combat Shonen? The thing didn’t become popular until the Jackie Chun tournament.

@@taterboob I've read dragon ball like a million times and the adventure did not stop after the pilaf arc. You need to go back and learn your stuff. It was hardly a shonen with all of the gags in the 21st world tournament and then right after Goku literally went around the entire world to get his 4 star dragon ball back.

I love how the teaser trailer was full of hate comments that wished they'd animate the Moro and Granolah arc yet this one is full of positive ones. That said, I love they went back to a more adventurous direction and more martial arts based fights. The choreography in the fights so far is amazing, you really feel the dynamics. I can tell that this series is going to be a good one.
I guess any potential haters just went back to their Jujutsu Kaisens or their Hero Academias.

Wouldn’t a jujutsu kaisen fan be a bigger fan of something like this than the Moro or Granolah arc, since this seems to be a bit more grounded (as far as fight scenes go) and well choreographed compared to the stuff in those arcs?
Because people are just coping, calling it nostalgic and iconic or talking about how the powerscaling is back to normal. Nothing is nostalgic about this, if it was in toriyamas old style, sure, but is just fucking kid goku vs some weakass copy paste enemies with no creative designs. The action in the trailer doesnt showcase anything amazing, in fact its kind of underwhelming, same with the animation, because aside from the smear frames and the 2 slow mo shots its not interesting whatsoever. Its just not good enough so far to actually be hopeful for it.

Akira Toriyama is such a legend. I’ve also grew up with Dr. Slump and not only the Dragon Ball franchise, but his character design for my favorite JRPG games are incredible. Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Blue Dragon etc.
Toriyama sensei, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for millions of fans around the world. You are such a genius who inspired many manga artists. For my final wish, I wish I could revive you with the Dragon BallS. My condolences from the bottom of my heart to your family and friends.

VERY unexpecting, because I thought Goku would still have his powers (at least most of it). Goku fighting like he was in DB is just beautiful to see.

I like the sense of adventure this series is aiming for. I love the fight choreography. And the animation looks so dang appealing and smooth!
I'll enjoy it because it's DB but fans are more so angry that we got this bs instead of the continuation of DBS. Alot of the fans were hoping to see DB break the Internet again but we gotta deal with daima. Them being mad is definitely understandable. Super been gone for 5 years now!
Don't feel abd for us, we're fucking grown adults and can choose to opt out of stuff we don't like.
@@ogloc8405DBS fans are strange. They complained about dbs manga a lot, calling Moro and Granola arcs utter garbage, but when daima was announced, got salty that it isn't the dbs continuation. What the hell they even want?
@@morganf.1562 I think they're calling the Manga garbage because of the writing. Dragon ball as a whole has really bad writing but most anime fans recognize DB as TOP anime because the amazing fights we've witnessed. Even people who barely watch anime knows Dragon ball. My expectations for the writing of daima is very low. I feel like the fights are gonna be lackluster because they made everyone fkn children😂
@@ogloc8405 Some of Toriyama's best fight choreaography was in ogdb, especially the kid goku vs piccolo's minions and dkp fight so if they can repeat that sort of style here it could work
