The shots of the bus museum reminded me of a photo posted on a facebook page recently. It showed a "B" Type bus in Vancouver BC in about 1920. I'm going to have find out the story behind that. Removing stickers from bus interiors--wow. I've never seen it look so easy. Years a go, I removed a ton of stickers from inside a school bus that had been a band bus. It was hard work. Can't wait to see what the new interior will look like.

Enjoyable video. I did not really like the refurbs carried out during the 90’s. However London United had 2 lovely RM’s , one of which was RM 2033. These had a halfway house modernisation of the interior that kept the original lighting and grey side panels and looked all the better for it. Could you not go for the lighting in the new Routemaster? It mimics the original.
We had similar issues replacing "modern" BR fitted strip lights in some DMUs I once long ago helped to restore. After much faffing around trying to get suitable old style replacements one of our gang spotted some lights that looked very much like the original tungsten bulb based fittings whilst being dragged round homeware shops by his girlfriend!

I once went to Cobham, was a long time ago possibly 30 years ago, only saw a shed, wasn’t like in the film, did see a Southend Routemaster, remember those buses from Holloway branded MTL London, when I first saw them, they had MTL Northern London, great seeing that RLH, fond memories of them out of Hornchurch in the 1960’s on the 248 and 248A + a later operator.
Does amaze me these buses where in service over 40 years, I drive ADL 200s only a couple of years old and with some on less then 200k on clocks and there literally falling apart and are fucked, the saying they really don't make them like they use too is so true. That canteen lorry was really cool to see too.

So, as one of many confirmed RM addicts, and in particular one who sadly is now unlikely to ever be in a position to own a bus of my own, I and many others are rather relying on you to keep the lights on for us... So many thanks for this latest entertaining and informative watch.

Yes, Brooklands is well worth a visit. Took my son there around five years ago for a drive at Mercedes Benz world and then looked around the Brooklands Museum. Well worth it, just for the chance to go on their Concorde. There is also a large historic motor section and you can ride on a Routemaster. Although, if you’ve got your own one. 👍 Will have to check out the classic car day.

If you haven't already sorted your original style lighting, try Hants & Dorset Trim. They "unrefurbished" some RMs and put in lights that were very difficult to distinguish from the originals, but were actually LEDs.
only thing is is if every RM is taken back to its 1968 spec it will make telling the story of the mid 1980s makeover with the flourcesent tubes etc only seen in photos. Quite why they went to the expense of fixing something that was not really broken I dont know

Another enjoyable video mate … suspect you might have been but if not the Tram museum at Crich in Derbyshire is another fantastic day out. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the writing on the inside of the panel referring to the panel itself for fitting purposes? Stock quantity available - 96 and it’s a left hand (LH) end finisher (as in left hand end finishing panel)? Just a wild guess 😂
Found these don’t know if they’re suitable, or even if they’re what you had in mind but thought they might make a good starting point - they will take a 2 watt G4 LED lamp and will need an led driver(s) if you want to run them at 240v - they’re currently 12 volt rated so that might be a bonus? 65mm diameter partially recessed not sure what size the existing butchered holes are in the panels but thought you might be able to clean them up with a hole saw? - thought they looked similar to the original tungsten lights you liked 🤷🏼♂️ hope this helps - Michael
Hated it when the lighting was changed to fluorescent and the ceilings painted white far too bright. Those changes were not done at Aldenham they would have taken more care closed by then anyway. Fake CCTV was a thing back in the day the fear factor. Now we forget about it recording us 24/7 everywhere.
@@PeteAndHisBus Yes they've saved many a bus operator from fraudulent passenger injury claims or vehicle damage ones. You should think about them for your buses both inside and outside. They can be small and almost invisible to being very conspicuous nowadays.

Hope you had a paving slab in the boot of the Beemer. My mate swore blind it "improved the handling" 🤣 I seem to remember that the cameras with grey lens surrounds were fake and the ones with black lens surrounds were real. We had two buses (out of 70!) with real cameras at Victoria garage.
When BMW's were a better marque. That red overspraying by the front door does that constitute graffiti. I guess you must have the 2nd largest collection of London buses by now.
