I just finished last night. I want more! In a good way, I felt stressed having to make tough decisions. One Kobayashi Maru after another. It's one thing to watch, another thing to step into the shoes of character and decide between impossible choices.
I would love to see a storyline continue with these same characters. I am most curious about how Carter's storyline might continue, with classic internal identify struggles Star Trek stories is known for. And since his best friend is Trill with complicated feelings in regard her sister, that parallel with Carter becoming like family, then reliving what she went through with her sister was striking. I'd love to see how she might in a story reach out to both in a sequel.
I'd buy that in a heartbeat!!
This game needs more coverage. Feels like only 20% of gamers out there knows about it.
Strongly agree. Hoping it explodes into popularity when it hits Steam
well, the 4k 60fps snobs will likely trash it and not give a damn of a chance.
I think it's the best narrative in any trek game to date for sure. I had an absolute blast.

Havn't played st klingon or st borg, back in the days?
St Borg was great, never got to play st Klingon. Like final unity, hoping they one day get a re-release on GOG
I liked the music. It's close enough for me. What I really enjoyed the most about this game was how immersed I was. I really felt like I was apart of an authentic Star Trek story.
For the next game, I'd like to see a little more optional/non-linear questing and exploring. Nothing like Mass Effect - just let me go to Ten Forward (or whatever the Resolute calls it) and visit places like Engineering and what not. I'm easy to please. A place like Ten Forward could be a nice way to gauge the crew's reactions from act to act, assuming the story doesn't have you in a different location.
That'd be ace tbf. Being able to free roam the ship, maybe pick up some side missions with the crew and build relationships would be brilliant for a sequel
I liked the music too. Some of the pieces did have me looking on IMBD to see what else the composer has done.
@@chrisowenssff4876 some of it was okay, it just had moments that stood out in the wrong way for me. Glad it's striking the right chord with people though.

I really enjoyed playing this Star Trek game. Its storyline was engaging and interactive, and I found it to be better than any of the Kurtzman-Goldsman-produced shows. The music didn't bother me, as I'm accustomed to slight variations in Trek music from ToS to Enterprise. I hope to see this crew again in future games. Though I understand that a Mass Effect-level interactivity could be costly and buggie to produce, I would love to play a trilogy based on Star Trek Resurgence as a devoted Trekkie.
Great review. I am enjoying this game immensely and it has topped my favorite ST game of all time - A Final Unity.
Did anyone else get Star Trek Voyager vibes for the intro to the game when Rydek was on the shuttle? I loved that intro. Great game overall

Wasn’t a Star Trek fan before playing the game, now I appreciate the lore and complexity of the universe, had a blast playing it, one of the best narrative story driven games I’ve played, I hope it gets a sequel or prequel into the previous first officer that died before the game.
Glad to hear it. A look into the previous events would be great, maybe something they should drop into a dlc?

They're all arguably better games, it's more that this nails the experience of being a playable episode of trek IMHO

I finished the game today and I loved it!
I highly recommend using the framerate/resolution mod which will push the game over 30fps (for me 75 with a 75hz monitor); makes the game much better!
As for the review, I can only agree with you, the music was sometimes off, but the story and characters were amazing.

I really enjoyed the game. Two things that bugged me was first, no dedication plaque on the bridge. I know not all ships had them but would have been a nice touch. The second thing the really bugged me was how every character raised one eyebrow during animations. I still have Elite Force and really liked the add on you could buy and just walk around the Voyager.

Sorry you're not enjoying it. It's a very specific kind of game tbf, more emphasis on the narrative than the interaction so it's not for everyone. Like i said in the review there are more fun games like the elite force series, I just enjoyed this for being like an episode of the show

@@brandondrew6399 if they could mix this kind of stuff with some bridge commander space battles and free roam of the ship and maybe a few planets it'd be awesome. Maybe in a sequel, can but hope 😅

Your review was spot on. This is in my top-3 favorite Star Trek games of all time with Starfleet Academy & a Stellaris Star Trek mod. I can't get into most Star Trek games because it seems like the point of those games is to fight when I want to be able to try to find a peaceful resolution. One thing I loved about Resurgence is the thing I wanted to do was always presented as an option. I really hope we get a sequel with the same characters and our choices can carry over.
spot on, its rare for a game to really capture the essense of trek, i think this game got probably the closest yet.
People moaning about this game costing $40 while people in asia are only paying less than $20 on day one in epic game store 😅.
Our review codes were for Xbox. Will be waiting for the steam release to pick it up on PC I think, just to make it easier to play on steamdeck

when are devs going to realize epic exclusive means free on PC
It's the one thing I wish they hadn't done. I play primarily on pc and I'll be waiting for it to hit steam before buying so it's easier to run on steamdeck

Locked 30fps, no graphics options, 1080p max resolution and it still somehow stutters on a 3080ti and 5700x.
A bummer for sure, I'm a massive trek fan and thought this was finally THE Star Trek I've been waiting for.
They're so damn close to the winning formula here its ridiculous.
@@jayreed2692 ooof. Our review copy was for Xbox. I guess 30fps looks more like an episode...but there should absolutely be headroom to get it 60fps if the player wants
I really must agree with your overall estimation of this game. Is it the best video game with the Star Trek label? No, probably not. But is it the best Star Trek game? Oh my, absolutely yes. Most Star Trek games tend to focus too much on combat, which, while make up the more exciting parts of Star Trek, don't really convey the whole Star Trek _experience._ Previous Star Trek adventure games from the 90s such as Star Trek: 25th Anniversary or Star Trek TNG: A Final Unity came closest to replicating that experience until this odd gem came along. As a longtime fan, I can't recommend this enough
