@@SGUDistantHope The mix was perfect. My quick answer for my favorite thing would obviously be all the beautiful ship pr0n. After that, you really do have a great cast and the music pulls it all together. I hope you eventually do a short on how Foley got the USS Foley. Well done, as always! You’ve created and laid out a fairly complex bit of UFP/Starfleet history here. thanks, there are short quotes from Nemesis, Voyager, DS9, TNG, TOS, ST TMP, ST IV, ST II, ST 2009, Disco, Picard, Prodigy and Lower Decks, Easter eggs for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing. A bit of background for you: the prodigy II theme is entirely original, with only the first 7 notes being from prodigy, the rest of the theme here is all new, including 2 new counter melodies played on the high and low strings respectively with the expanded horn theme in the middle. Lt Davis' theme is new, and featured heavily, it's derived from horizon's theme in the earlier shows and makes up the bulk of the soundtrack. Pakled Resurgence! The Chunk Class Ship! I really enjoy these types of Starfleet Interview Videos very entertaining but a bit confusing. 🤔 I think hiring a writer to clean up the dialog into a more story format, with less technical, ship, captain names thrown in. A more complete story like you are describing an episode... 🙂😃😁
Hey! Thanks for the kind words. The Dialogue is very specifically meant to be written the way it is, more personal, free form and informative. Part of these shorts is to also expand and help tell smaller parts of our characters stories AND of course be fun for the audience of Trek fans. I could have cut it right down to a very sleek 15min "what happened" story but then it would be far less fun for the audience and not serve to help the Trek Shorts web content we are making. All very deliberate :D

Great story! I love the crossover between the various Star Trek bits of lore that we *know* are there at the same time, but not necessarily experience as such 😍 (Lower Decks, the testing of the Protostar, Resurgence...) I hope the Connie that was seen in one encounter with a Clump Ship got away as well 😢 (and lovely to still have Connies flying around like the trusty Mirandas and Excelsiors do 🥰) A small mistake I noticed: when the Clump Ship drops out of Warp after the Resolute fired on it, the Protostar is missing from its "claws" (in the next scene it's present again) 😅

I would love to be able to do the graphics like that... I want to make a fan film next year but I need someone to help with a teaser real so we can do crowd funding later. I have a friend with some Star Trek sets, but what I really need is the (TOS) USS Yorktown (my ship) to encounter a space rift. Through the rift comes an Aeon style time/scout ship. The Yorktown tries to evade but the smaller ship circles, opens the bay doors and lands inside. The next shot would be the Yorktown in a stationary position in front of the now closing rift, as it suddenly surges larger and larger... then a Wells class timeship comes in and stops, nose to nose. Later I'll need more work done, but that will all be once we raise a bit of money for the rest of the special effects.

@@SGUDistantHope If I had to list just one thing... probably Samuel's character's response to all the ships coming in one after the other to be the cavalry only to have it cause *more* issues was great. And also incorporating Worf's time as Captain of the E as mentioned in season 3 of Picard. Love it! (Sean from Trek Culture's part was also great!)
There is something I think needs to be discussed about the Treaty of Algeron. While it did keep the Romulans and the Federation at peace, Admiral Pressman had a legitemate point when he said the treaty binded Starfleet's hand and gave the Romulans a tactical advantage. Plus, the assasination of the Romulan Senate would lead to the collapse of the Romulan Central Government. In effect the treaty wouldn't even exist anymore.

@@SGUDistantHope Honestly, I'd love to see some fan films set in the STO timeline. Maybe iconian war effort, centred around 3 ships of the 3 factions perhaps?
@@nsr-ints Hiya! Sounds like a lot of assets/cast we dont have. Would be looking at a $5000 indiegogo to raise budget for something with that new, would you be open to donating to such a project? Part of why we get projects made, so big and so efficient is knowing how to work with the limitations we have, in cast and assets. Keeps them under $1000 budget each normally.
@@SGUDistantHope fraking hades, I can see how such a project would be demanding from a technical standpoint, but wow. Never thought it'd require that large of a funding.
@@nsr-ints Ha, indeed let me explain. So, you suggested 3 captains and 3 factions. That would need to be 3 new cast, their costs to bring them to the studio. New uniforms for each, if custom designed/made that can be $300 per uniform. Then if were putting all that time and energy into it, we would want to do a multi day shoot which means i've got to cover all the hotels + all food. 3 actors (Only 3) hotels for a weekend shoot (Coming in Fri so everyone's fresh for Sat) can be easily $1500 in hotel costs alone. Then, you have the costs associated for building any new 3D assets as these are new ships/factions. Interiors+ exteriors + textures. Brand new, at a good quality...people don't aphreisate what it costs...and were on the ULTRA cheap end lol. This is why we stick to our same cast since we have the uniforms already set to go and know what costs it involves to bring them in.

Good presentation!
OMG MY JAW HIT THE FLOOR WITH THAT CAMEO!

Beautifully done!
Thank you! What in particular did you enjoy about the project? :D
I enjoyed not only the starship visuals, but also the appearances by some familiar faces, both Sean from TrekCulture and the pair from Trekyards@@SGUDistantHope
Oh those silly, unpredictable Pakleds!
That was really fun.
Great story! I love the crossover between the various Star Trek bits of lore that we *know* are there at the same time, but not necessarily experience as such 😍 (Lower Decks, the testing of the Protostar, Resurgence...)
I hope the Connie that was seen in one encounter with a Clump Ship got away as well 😢 (and lovely to still have Connies flying around like the trusty Mirandas and Excelsiors do 🥰)
A small mistake I noticed: when the Clump Ship drops out of Warp after the Resolute fired on it, the Protostar is missing from its "claws" (in the next scene it's present again) 😅
Great show love the way u tied up loss story ends great job:)

You did a lot of storytelling with a limited cast and set. Very good connections between different iterations of ST.
“Starbug”was a nice touch! 😂😂😂

Nice tie in with Star Trek Resurgence. My question about the USS Resolute is....Where did they fit the forward torpedo launchers? There simply isn't enough room by the deflector dish.

27.51 I just noticed the Bussard Collectors sure look like WW2 RAF roundels. Not a coincidence, is it?
There is something I think needs to be discussed about the Treaty of Algeron. While it did keep the Romulans and the Federation at peace, Admiral Pressman had a legitemate point when he said the treaty binded Starfleet's hand and gave the Romulans a tactical advantage. Plus, the assasination of the Romulan Senate would lead to the collapse of the Romulan Central Government. In effect the treaty wouldn't even exist anymore.

Rick Cole: Greate job
This was really awesome! Well done to everyone involved! If I could offer one constructive criticism. Name dropping is better if not overdone. You kind go a little overboard with it. There is plenty of history you can focus on. Still a fantastic job though!
In the distant future they will not need distracting pull thingees to raise up their zippers.
Their zippers will have built in tiny tractor beams and raise themselves.

So, this short trek is a prequel to Star Trek Prodigy giving a more backstory to the ship before the beginning of the show. Would be cool if the production team does another short trek showing the final mission of the Enterprise E while Worf as Captain.
Yes! Set a few weeks before they set of on their maiden voyage! (And then things went bad ha!)! Yes...just have them make more Prodigy and we can see more flashbacks!

This is why we stick to our same cast since we have the uniforms already set to go and know what costs it involves to bring them in.
whos Dominic? lol., aha its Seán!! this is great thanks.
