- The Grinch. The animated retelling/reboot/origin-story of the Grinch character. It's quite something. I hear it made decent money and many folks loved it, and I think that's pretty cute. This thing is full of sins and we're gonna count 'em, dammit, cause that's what we do!

Well, just like in the Lorax video, there is SOME rhyming, but doing the entire video in rhyme like he and Doug did for the live-action Grinch is anything but easy.

He seems so less...grinch in this version.
The animated version was perfect, he was sinister and mean. The live action version was halarious and almost creepy.
This version seems really safe and whats worse than the grinch is cindy. She is nothing like her original character the grinch gets caught red handed by.

THIS. the grinch isnt...the grinch in this movie. hes way, way, WAY too nice. His heart is supposed to be small as hell, with no room for love for anyone. yet in this movie, he shows all the time taht his "small" heart is seemingly more than enough, especially with that stupid fckn reindeer.
I really like this version, too, though. The German Voice Acting made it feel real authentic. Of course there is the question of why make another GRinch movie, but I really enjoy every variation and I apreciate their existance xD
Exactly. I would have liked a animated version of the real life movie but theh changed the story and it wasn't that good. It was about the Grinch and how he didn't like Christmas, now it feels like a movie about how single mothers have challenging lives. Nothing wrong with that but it has absolutely nothing to do with what the original Grinch movies were about

I'm surprised you didn't remove a few sins for the moment when the Grinch says "How much emotional eating have I been doing?" and then it cuts to him eating just enormous piles of food cause that made me genuinely crack up.

It depends, I have a friend that I love to nitpick details and plotholes when we watch stuff and others that hate it so I keep my mouth shut until the movie is over.
My gf does the same thing, it gets on my nerves so much. If i wanted to listen to someone nit pick a movie i'd watch cinema sins, Not have to listen to someone talk throughout the whole movie.
Well either way it is just a animated movie. It's obviously going to have flaws because its a "cartoon" with a grinch.😂 your not really supposed to look so deep into it but its fun to critic. It's like seeing a cartoon character fall from the Empire State Building with no death or injury, stupid but funny to critic.

Interesting fact: the mom is voiced by Rashida Jones who played Ann the nurse in parks and rec and the mom who she voices in this is also a nurse just thought that was interesting

It's more likely that whenever they signed a deal to get the movie it started in the middle of December of that year and expired X years afterwards. I imagine that the rights holders signed a new deal with another streaming service instead of Netflix.

The Jim Carrey version is a better more creative movie

13:20 That is my main issue with this movie. The Grinch shows that he has a heart before the time when his heart is suppose to grow. He apologizes to Max for his behavior and he lets the reindeer go when he sees that it has a family. The point of the original story, animated short included, was that he didn't have much of a heart, a very small heart to the point that he hated everything, especially Christmas and Whos. To the live action version's credit, that Grinch didn't get a heart until the end of the movie, he was mean throughout the entire movie right until the end like in the book. Even with the backstory they gave him. Sure you can argue that he rescued Cindy Lou in the mailroom but Max forcefully encouraged him to. Both movies have their flaws but I still prefer the Jim Carrey version as despite the additions, it stuck closer to the heart of the original story better than this new version. But the animated short will always reign supreme.
He still HAS a heart though. He didn't magically get one from nothing, the one he already had grew. The fact that he has or heeds Max AT ALL is proof of that.
