Seanan, thank you for the advice on dry fly leader. I never had any luck with mepps until Iwatched you fish with them. I used one recently following your technique casting upstream I caught 12 trout in a short time. I was stunned. Keep them coming.
Lovely vid! I think I find fly fishing slightly more satisfying than lure fishing, especially dry fly. However, when I am fly fishing I am always gutted about missing the trout holes or under trees, which is where lure fishing comes into its own!
Jeremy here an NZ viewer here. My target species here in the South Island are browns but also I dabble in perch as well. I grew up only fly fishing and have in the past few years got into lures and soft plastics. I like both and like how you show both. What would be interesting is a challenge fly versus minnow or soft plastics. Let’s settle this once and for all 😂
Great video I’m going to try my hand at fly fishing ..I have a couple of questions do you use a loop to loop connection and second question my rod came with a nine foot tapered leader do I need such a long leader my local stream is quite small and it’s putting me off because I think it would be too hard to use for a beginner lol
Out with the fly rod yesterday as well. No luck but did manage to lose my glasses so back out tomorrow to retrace my steps, and maybe flick a few nymphs.
Hey, there’s lots of “tapered leaders” you can buy ready made in the tackle shops. Honestly for me, I often simply use about 9ft of a 4lb maxima ultragreen as the river leader and it works absolutely fine, very cheap also. But there’s way more complicated ways of doing it, maybe they are better, but I often find keeping it simple, works very good.
Good stuff Tom! Ya there’s lots of videos on setting them up, you don’t need to complicate it too much. But get out into a field first to practice your casting before you hit a river, casting is the most important part of flyfishing, takes a long time to get it right 🙏
On the river fishing for wild brownies, nothing better on a fine summers evening 🎣 Love these videos Senan 👍🏻
Couldn’t agree more, it’s great fun! 🥳🐟
I am a lifelong trout fisherman and I love what you do. Keep it going!
Awesome! Thank you!

Some great fishing on the fly. You should try fishing with some small streamers it's great fun and targets the bigger fish. It's really rewarding
Fly fishing is fun so contact fishing very enjoyable 👏 great video again thanks Senan 👍
It really is! Thanks for watching!
@@senanstanleyfishing no problem I really like your videos learn a lot from you 👍
Most enjoyable to watch. It a beautiful place. Can't wait for your next video.
More to come!
Lewis is some lad and gets out of fishing what he puts in which is an awful lot. He’s lucky to be friends with a man like you too
For sure, you get out of it what you put into it when it comes to fishing and effort 🙏
Good show!
Glad you enjoyed it🥳
another savage video senan! thanks for getting me back into fishing again, you taught me even more. great video
Thank you I’m glad your back hooked on it again 💪
Great video mate, you should find the weirdest Trout lures you can and try and catch some trout on them. That would be good fun to watch
That’s a good idea! I’m planning to do some soft plastics next for the trout

Very true! Both have their ideal situations, if only we could carry both rods around our necks and choose on the go 😂💪

Hey Jeremy! I done a lure vs fly video on my channel sometime last year… lure won by a landslide 🙈😄 both are fun though, it’s nice to show both 😄🐟
Great video Senan 👍
Thank you!

Nice video senan!
Thanks for watching 🤝🎣
Nice one Senan!
Legend!
nothing this man can't do! definitely in the 1% club
Thanks man! You will have to bring the flyrod out soon on your channel!
Im getting the same net but how do you attach it to your waders or your bag?
I use a net magnet. “McLean” is the one I use, it’s expensive but it’s the strongest.
Out with the fly rod yesterday as well. No luck but did manage to lose my glasses so back out tomorrow to retrace my steps, and maybe flick a few nymphs.
I know the feeling Garry, I dropped my flyrod in this video and had to chase it downstream! 😂😂😂
Seanan what leader set up would you recommend for a beginner dry fly fishing.

Well senan
Another great video👌
I’m planning on buying a fly rod for the first time ever
Any tips when setting up

I have never fished on rivers only on lakes. Could you recommend some rivers for trout fishing?
Senan . Great video . How long is leader ?
Lar
Thanks Laurence, I usually use a rod length of leader on the river, you can use shorter or longer, I find a rod length is just about right
Could u do a few vids for beginners fly fishing
What type glasses do u use.
The ones on my head there are Kinetic, i go through a few pairs every year so I often go for the cheaper ones.
Lad - a 5 weight is massive overkill. Scale things back and you'll have more craic.
I know it is overkill for sure ☺️👍
I thought you were going to do a food review
On a fishing channel
