I ordered my 2023 LTZ Silverado with them and ... it came without, so I have to add them now. It crazy how difficult GM made the addition, with Ford F-250 it was way easier. Ford is WAY MORE practical truck, but unfortunately doesn't have Duramax-Allison combo.

That's great for all the people running a full size truck but I have a 2020 Canyon. So getting a knew bolster and cutting a hole in it to add that switch package is my only option. Which if I can get that switch panel and box I will do just that in a heart beat.

I was so mad I requested to have this on my truck and then realized it wasn't even wired in. I had the local truck outfitter install mine it cost me 100 bucks
Dude, you could have just used the new knee bolster as a stencil like I did to cut the hole in the original bolster...this is what I did...I didn't need to take any of those panels off!....I even squeezed the 2 screws in for the fuse box without taking that bolster off all the way...the whole job took me 45 minutes...and it looks just as good as yours.
I'm a long time viewer and love the vids. I also bought the "Kit" for my 2022 HD AT4. I only paid a Buck and a half from the GM parts store. I looked at the videos of others who had removed everything from the front bumper, windshield, dash and finally the Bolster and I also said H3ll No!! I used the new Bolster as my template and with wide tape, made a mask of the complete left side area, then cut out the open area in the tape. Then aligning the mask on the Existing Bolster and using a very sharp blade, cut out the area. That took me only 40 min. (I work slow - but meticulous). I took me longer to snake that battery cable thru the pea size hole in the firewall. A lot of back and forth from under dash to on a ladder leaning into the engine bay. Ha Ha. When I was finished It was a three beer day. Keep up your good work.
Would you just go ahead and install the Baja designs S1 Dual Amber/Clear fog lights for our truck?! Literally can't find a video of them in action although I'm sure they're wonderful. I'd love to see your take before I spend that money! They're not cheap, but you know what, you deserve it! I got 5 on it
Had I known this kit didn’t get power into the engine bay I would have gone with an aftermarket kit. I wrapped & made a redneck harness out of x4 14 ga wires around the power wire when I put it thru the firewall. Then tapped those 4 wires into the powered wires.
Ford nailed it, ram made it even better, gm decided to make it an option that doesn’t come installed, and if you do install you have to start in the back seat disassembling the center consoles to install the dash panel… this is one of many reasons why I hate upfitting on gm so much…
I didnt remove the dash I cut the smaller of the 2 boots on the boot going through the firewall and used a electrical snake 1/8 wide to fish wire in. It works easier if you have a friend push while you pull it. Make sure you taper the head like a missle to help it slide through.
I need to show everyone what's possible! This is something I wanted when I bought the truck, but it never came to be until now. My recommendation is always, do what will work best for you 😀
Great video Don. I just purchased the kit and have a couple questions. I have three sets of lights (light bar, cubes and spot lights) and they all come wired with a relay and a connection that runs three wires to a switch. If there are relays with this system, what do I do with the original relays? If there is only one wire now to the switch, what wire do I connect from the original wiring and what happens to the other wires? Thanks for any guidance.
Nice, Don! I installed the up fitter switches for my K2 Silverado integrated to the stability control switch panel. I don't have an option for the cool relay box you have but, since it's only ground activated, I think the first switch is going to go to my under hood light (same as yours) so if I want to open my hood and not have the light on, I can just hit a switch. Great video about install on the T1 platform, well done!
Thank you. Just got this mod. Can you help me with 2 things? How do I know what color wire is what switch? Where in the can under dash do I ground the wires
I used a 12v test light to determine which color worked with each switch. It only took a minute. As for a ground for each device. You can ground the device anywhere to the chassis, some of the mounts for the dashboard, various parts of the inner bodywork. Try not to expose bare metal in the process for areas that can rust. There is a ground post under the passenger side of the hood. It is a handy ground for items placed around the front of the vehicle.
I have a question. I'm installing the kit but want to run wires out of the cab and through the firewall so they're ready when i need them. What gauge wire do you recommend?
Wondering why the significant cost difference between the refresh and non-refresh kits ~$150 price difference between the two, and when pricing out kit components from GM, that doesn't add up?

I've got the upfitter switch kit on the way, are the leads to tie into the switches right there under the dash behind the new knee bolster or do they extend into the engine bay? I was fitting up the light bar last night and wondering if I should run the wires to where the switches will be or if I can just leave them in the engine bay near the battery for now. And the curve of the 22 inch strands housing matches the curve of the opening perfectly, was sweating that until I got it last night and happy with how it looks! Thanks as always!
