      Also thats just a crappy boss, not a sexual thing, was anyone legitimately trying to make an argument that she didint get drunk or show favoritism because she's a woman, or do you just assume she got off lighter for that reason.
      Is there a lot of male bosses that got fired?
      Sounds like they just didn't care because wasn't technically illegal or interfering with business and was probably more trouble to replace her, not preconceived notions about gender.

      Do you know what he meant by that?
      It's possible that he meant (A) Get her paralytic and then rape her. But it's also possible that he meant (B) Alcohol is a social lubricant and lowers inhibitions. Get drunk with her and if she likes you, it'll happen. Or he could have meant any number of other things. It's hard to know a person's motivations or intentions, especially if there are additional complicating factors, such as English being a second language for at least one party. if you go around assuming the worst of people, you're always going to find the worst, even when it's not true/ not really the case. If you're a hammer, everything is a nail. Rather than assuming intent, it might be worthwhile to ask someone for clarification.

    This is so funny but also so sad. When I was a teenager I used to work with a guy that would intensely flirt with all the teenage girls (he was 22!!!) and it became kind of a running gag amongst the men at my workplace so we wouldn’t take it seriously (we were teenagers, we didn’t know any better)
    One day one of my supervisors saw him grab a girl’s butt and immediately told it to our boss.
    The boss said, quote: “But he’s such a nice guy. I’m sure it was a one time thing and if we tell him, he’s never going to do it again.”
    Turns out he had been doing this for years on ALL of the girls (Grabbing their butt without their consent, trying to force hug them or force kiss them, sending tons of creepy texts everyday)
    Nobody had never said anything because they all thought they were gonna be laugh at.
    It’s really a problem.
    We need to stop with all the « But he’s such a nice guy » bullshit

  • @AnonymousOnimous

    So very true. I was a teacher, we had a staff member who (after he was even fired for inappropriate advances toward female coworkers, and after numerous female staff complained) attempted to groom one of the student volunteers. All of those women weren't believed and it took messages on the volunteer's phone to get this guy fired.
    It would be easier if the demons in the world weren't people with whom we can identify and sympathize.
    When you think someone might be off, find the safe people and tell them. You're almost certainly not the first person. Or the last.

    You know, underneath all the jokes it's actually quite brutal this one. Because it's exactly how with place harassment happens... The guys all ignore the shit that happens, when females complain it falls on deaf ears... And the whole "but he's a great guy". Sure to the guys.. But the to the women they act completely different.
    I have not seen that happen anywhere I worked... But I saw it in highschool and in uni... But thankfully never came across it so far in the workplace.

It took a while until my boyfriend confronted the guy, but until then it felt like nothing was going to solve it.

      One of the universities I taught at had a problem with a male professor; he was threatening to give female students bad grades unless they had sex with him. One of my students came to me about this and showed me the texts he had sent her, so I took this up with the school heads. I thought they would contact the police and throw that scumbag in jail; but in fact, they allowed him to "retire" with full pay and find a new job at a different university. I asked them why and they said, "If we call the police, the media will find out and it will be a big scandal, and we will lose money." I thought they were idiots, because that guy will only go on to commit more crimes at a different school. I left that university to find work elsewhere and a few months later, the media still found out and it came out in the newspapers that the school tried to cover up for a sex offender, which was a million times worse than if they had just been honest about it. Several of the heads lost their jobs, which was good I guess.
      Note: this wasn't a university in the USA, but overseas in Asia. So it's an Eastern and Western problem. Ironically, I was teaching Business Ethics at the time.

      Matt Smith - We (the girls who knew) did tell people. In fact, we told as many people as possible. But the guys would just brush it off like "oh that sucks" or "he was just drunk" or "she probably did something to make him do that" etc. But when just one guy publicly called him out, suddenly multiple guys were commenting about how "surprised" they were and rushing to publicly condemn him too, all on the same day. It was just disappointing.

      Duckman1616 - If only this were true. Do you know how hard it is to get the police to stop actual stalkers and domestic violence? If you think the police would act just because you told them someone was a pathological liar or serial cheater, I highly doubt they would do anything.

      Kenneth Aldred Lmao that’s not what most people are saying. We’re just saying that the majority of men are not ok with sexual harassment or assault, especially if they know the person affected. The video is also mocking the idea that EVERY guy denies it lol. And yes there should be due process no matter what. Sorry if that hurts ur feelings.

      Andrew S. Bro you did';t get it!
      It doesn't say that everyone is dismissing them. But that you don't listen! Of course you are not ok with harassment! But until you believe that there was a harassment and until you actually listen to the victim, you are part of the problem!
      Did you miss the "SHE SAID"? Yeah!

    • @andrews.2980
      @andrews.2980 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Ishizu09 Dismissing them would be an example of not truly listening. I was told by a girl that she was sexually harassed I instantly believed her and it turns out she was lying about the whole thing (and I still don’t really understand why). That’s when my eyes were really opened to the assumption of guilt that men face.

      @Kenneth Aldred, so if i can get 26 people to agree you murdered someone, time to go to jail? due process is there for a reason, while it sucks that some people can abuse the legal system to avoid getting caught. taking away due process is a path no one should want, as it can lead to some seriously fucked up places.

    • @nunyabusiness164
      @nunyabusiness164 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nowhere in the sketch did they imply that any single woman's word matters more than a man's. They did, however, comment on the widely observed phenomenon of people turning a blind eye to creepy behavior because they don't want to believe someone they know could be a harasser or abuser.
      When one woman accuses a man of rape or assault, evidence should be evaluated to find whether the claim is true.
      When five, ten, twenty women come forward over a period of time to accuse one man of inappropriate behavior, assault, or rape-- that lends a deal of credibility to such claims. I.e, Cosby, Weinstein, Trump.
      If what you get out of "hey, people should maybe listen the first twenty five times someone is called out for harassment" is "any woman should have the power to instantly prove any man guilty on word alone," then you have a very biased perception of the real issues facing victims of harassment.
      Nobody has said every claim is credible. But when people refuse to even listen to victims of assault and entertain the idea that they might not be lying, it makes people not want to come forward. And that puts everyone in more danger.

      It doesn't explain it at all, I'm still confused why people don't speak out in the age of media where you can be kept safe by the public by claiming youre being raped or hurt, especially if there's multiple victims. People need to speak up more, there's always a lot of people willing and obligated to help those in need, and once people realise that then maybe we'll see a revolutionary change from people speaking up

    • @joshduriden519

      Because like most things it's complicated.
      There are many interconnected things that lead up to why stuff like this goes on, from people not wanting to get involved, interpersonal bias, shifting of blame, people trying to cover their asses, miscommunication, and people just being plain sexist.

    • @ruebrownies
      @ruebrownies 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +cough pillbox There are so many things that stop them. First investigations that they have to go through to see if people believe them, then there are people blaming them because 'they were asking for it ' then there are people saying they did it for attention, the embarrassment and shame of it happening, they could know the person and have to see them a lot, they could also be part of a relationship or being manipulated by the rapist to make them not tell, victims fear what is going to happen with it all. That's why. Just because it is more spoken about, doesn't mean it is better handled.

      Yes to all of these things, but I have an additional quality! I'm a huge hypocrite, working as a clinical psychologist, telling people how not to feel crippled by anxiety.... they have no idea that I'm the worst myself. Oh and then I also work as critical social psychologist and rip clinical psychology "a new one" in my research... and I'm not sure if I do that only cause I really feel that it needs to be done or because I feel betrayed by my own field and refuse to take responsibility. So... I better stop now, or I'll make you fall in love with me in an unhealthy way.

      because they're forced into silence because some women did come forward and were pushed into obscurity because people put them into situations of sacrificing their career. But also many people came forward and the jokes were to make it sound less serious. People knew about Roman Polanski, people knew about Woody Allen, people knew about Harvey Weinstein but they got ignored because they were 'greats' and 'artists' and 'what's important is what they create'. Stanley Kubrick straight up tortured Shelley Duvall onset of the Shining and that's free available information but it gets ignored.

    I could easily work at this office, 'cause where I work now the same things happens. Some men there seems unable to understand any word I say, but they magically do when a male coworker repeat it word by word, like I didn't say anything at all before. It's exhausting how some men like only other men's voice...

    • @steph_dreams
      @steph_dreams 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Research has shown that not just men but people in general all listen to more masculine voices, it’s just an evolutionary drive, so while you can blame them a bit, remember that it’s really not their fault, it’s that drive plus a bit of how they were raised

      The same thing happens to me. I’m a woman in IT and I can go to my boss with a serious problem and be completely blown off. I’ve tested it multiple times with a male coworker friend of mine. He’d say the same thing I did and would get an actual reaction and suddenly people jump into action to fix the problem. I’ve done this literally one right after the other dozens of times testing in different ways... it’s crazy the difference. My male friend was blown away because I’m actually in a higher position than him but he is taken more seriously.

      People don't have a problem with gender equality or women fighting for rights. The problem is when feminists and far left liberals disguise what they do as "gender equality". They march for the right to have an abortion because it's their body, but then cut the foreskin off their babies if they have them. That's the kind of shit people have a problem with. Feminists have no interest in true gender equality. They only want it when it is convenient for women.
