    Monza is sweet…..but I would have keep the power steering and the AC…… it’s always easier to add more hose power for the little weight…..anyway still love your build keep them coming……you need a tire sponsor cause I like the tire smoke and I see you do to……lol

    • @alecweinstein4990
      @alecweinstein4990 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tires are cheap, but the axle needs way more beef before it can spin them both. And then it needs a trans since 2.29s are not worth putting back in. And then it needs a torque arm because new trans won't have the mount. And then etc. It's a real rip it all out at one time kinda thing

Put 28 SPLINE MOSERS in it with what kind of LOCKER YOU WANT you are good to around 650 HP PERIOD and its all put through a TH 350 BUILT running TRICKFLOW FLUID

    The battery going on the other side in some cars, it depends what engine was in there.
    Pontiac 2.5
    Buick 3.8
    Chevy small blocks.
    It’s been too long, I don’t remember what side the 2.5 or the 3.8 were on.

      @@travisblack417 interesting. We’re they factory V8 cars? I wonder is someone was swapping from an engine with a drivers side starter and battery, to a small
      Block, and just grabbed a long cable.
      I had picked up a 70 Chevy pickup, the original 350 was trashed and they slapped a Pontiac 350 in there instead. They didn’t even find a long cable, they just clamped two cables together and wrapped it with a half roll of tape, zip tied it away from the fan and called it good.
      I dropped in a caddy 500… THEN it was all good.

      @@Project_Low_Expectations Always wanted to build a 500 but can't afford the good parts lol. IIRC there was a silver monza on slot mags, lots of stagger for sale a bit back with a small block and a passenger battery. Which is weird because isn't an SBC a passenger starter? Wonder if it has to do with where the A/C is.

    • @Project_Low_Expectations
      @Project_Low_Expectations ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@alecweinstein4990 yeah, passenger battery for a passenger side starter.
      My 500 and the following cad 425 were just junkyard engines.
      With a good tune and free flowing exhaust and a good carb they are pretty responsive. Just tap the throttle and she’d lunge forward in a twisting motion.

    Bumper shocks and brackets will knock another 100pounds off. If it's like my 79. Monza. Keep up the good work. Needs aluminium heads and headers.

    • @travisblack417
      @travisblack417  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have headers, it’s just a matter of building the exhaust. We ay take apart the bumpers later and see if there’s a way to lighten them up later

    The more weight you can get off the front end without butchering it. The better it will Handel s 10 5 lug spindles. And axles in the stock rear for now. Will make a world of difference. They drive beautiful.

    • @travisblack417
      @travisblack417  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We’re cutting up the stock spindles to run aerospace 5 lug drag brakes. I think I show them in like part 2.

  • @DesignDogG
    @DesignDogG ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hey Man, did you ever get a set of headers on this? Some of the precious ounces would be better traded for 40 pounds of shity exhaust manifold! and the power gain would be worth all of the effort on the other shit you seem to be focusing on.

    • @travisblack417
      @travisblack417  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      We own a set of headers, we just haven’t installed them. You can see them in like part 2 of this series. It will require us to build an entirely new exhaust system from scratch so we haven’t been prioritizing it.

      What's funny is, usually I'm the guy in your position. I originally wanted to keep it loaded, but in video 1 we realized it's just not viable. If it all worked it would have stayed... but it didn't and the car isn't worth spending 5k to completely rebuild the A/C. Breaking it out hurt, not gonna lie, but after seeing what was in there I don't really regret it. Moldy. Also I physically couldn't fit inside with the A/C installed lol. Plus the rust around the window, etc. It looks nicer on camera, the interior plastics are crumbling pretty bad and where do you even find A pillars for these? Tell you what though, there's an identically specced car on Chico CA craigslist for 4500, it's been there for over two years. Why don't you buy it and join us? I'd love to see that car saved. Or just let me know if you want to buy anything off this one.

Tubular a arms and coil overs for the front. That’s actually a really good idea. This hood is pretty light and I like how it hinges more like a modern car. Also the paint matches the rest of the car. I could probably cut like 20lbs out of all the structure of the hood.
