    I just discovered your channel thanks to Vice Grip Garage’s Power Tour coverage. My first car in 1988 was a 1978 Spyder in black with gold Spyder graphics. 305 two barrel with a 5 speed. I swapped in a Crane cam, and an Edelbrock Performer intake and carb with a cat delete. It *might* have made 250 horsepower, but that was enough to give the local Fox bodies and 3rd gen Camaros absolute fits.
    I look forward to binge watching the Spyder videos!

    Curious if you guys remember what sending unit you guys made work in the stock tank? I just picked up a 1980 Monza that I may try to slap together just like this. Thanks for the videos!

      Just about any late model GM sending until/fuel pump setup will work. We used a Corvette one with a laser cut circular flange to bolt it up with. I’ve also used an S10 unit and it worked.

    What did the exhaust manifold come off of?

    • @SpyderGarage
      @SpyderGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ‘98 Fbody manifolds. Ironically, the actual manifolds the LS1 came with. 👍🏻

      AutoKraft LS1/LS2 oil pan. All four corners are baffled as well. Great pan!

    I’m glad I found your video my dad is collecting parts to build a 79 monza coupe has a 5.3 to go in it if you don’t care have a couple questions
    What oil pan did you use part number
    What manifolds did you use
    Thank you so much god bless👍

    • @SpyderGarage
      @SpyderGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used an LS swap oil pan by AutoKraft - HIGHLY recommend it. (It’s baffled in all 4 corners); we used stock F-body manifolds believe it or not. Had to sent them in some places but otherwise worked great!

      An AutoKraft LS swap oil pan (autokraft.org/products) - has 4 corner trap door baffling and very well made 👍🏻 About $425 before tax/shipping

    What kind of steering shaft did you use in this after you change everything The stock one or did you replace it with something else

    • @SpyderGarage
      @SpyderGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The stock one worked but the rag joint would sometimes interfere with the exhaust manifolds, so we made a new steering shaft using two double-D shafts (to create a slip joint) and two universals at each end. Fit much better although next time we’ll not do a slip joint because there’s too much steering play/slop in it. Will just use a single double-D shaft.

    • @johndreslinski7708
      @johndreslinski7708 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you happen to remember the universal numbers on both sides that you pick for that steering shaft so far everything we've picked for this has been fighting us all the way

    Take the cow catcher and the bumper shocks off. Make new aluminium brackets and lose 75 pounds off the front end.
