This is not vlogging for food vlogging's sake. This is a localized documentation - of Laguna's culture on food. And knowing Erwan's Mom is from Laguna, I find this video quite sweet coming from a son... 😍😍😍
erwan's work deserves more views...i feel like filipino's loves youtubers that likes to curse on their videos than learning something so useful about our culture and history.
Thank you Erwan for featuring our province in your vlog specially San Pablo City. I have relatives who are selling fish. It’s nice to see in a video the province I grew up. I miss San Pablo City! Let’s support Laguna and love more Philippines. Only in the Philippines 🇵🇭 Viva Pilipinas
Thank you for helping the locals! Philippines has such a rich culture. It would be nice if locals grow and make a living from protecting the beauty of the philippines.
Thats exactly what they’ve been doing, and Pandin-Yambo has been a tourist attraction for years. We’ve been bringing our foreign friends and balikbayan relatives to that place plus other areas.
Love this docu-type of featuring the food, the people, and the place. Refreshing break from the recipe-kitchen only videos. Please do more of this, I think you're the best in this space. I would love to see VisMin food featured as well. Thank you for this video!
Thanks for featuring San Pablo, Erwan! The seven lakes are actually maars, ancient volcanoes which erupted only once and formed depressions. Later they are filled up by freshwater until we have the lakes that we see today. :)
Yung fashion ni kuya erwan and the team just to show us how beautiful Philippines is grabe!!.
Eto talaga yung let’s support local ☺️
Mad props to all the peeps who preserve this dishes. Sana lang may mga young bloods na magpreserve and actually take time to study their culture. Thanks to this kase kahit papaano may nagsho-showcase ng mga dying cuisine ng Pilipinas. 💯 One up sa lahat ng bumubuo nitong segment. Pagpalain kayong lahat!
I always watching on daily basis of this program especially about my town where I came of my humble beginnings- TAAL, BATANGAS I hope I'm still alive when I came back there on or before the last Sunday of November, 2023 up to the end of my life ????????
I appreciate your content. A great way to bring Filipinos from abroad to reconnect to our homeland. Not only that, a gateway for foreigners to understand Filipino dishes and culture. As a fil-am I am discovering more things about our culture. Can't wait to visit the Philippines. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for featuring Laguna on your vlog. Our province not only boasts of good food but also a lot of amazing and wonderful tourist destinations and historical places. We really appreciate your efforts on all your featured topics, food, destination, cultural, traditional and historical aspects of our country, we wish you continued success.
Beautiful presentation, not only chef erwan cooks, he brings the location and history of the ingredients, also including the ordinary folks who essentially have their own recipes; so it’s not just cooking show but also a cultural experience;
Finally, dried biya's supremacy finally being recognised. Best enjoyed with salted egg (only the best from my hometown Victoria, ehem XD) and white rice. Great job Erwan, you always deliver!
So happy with this video! Grew up having these dishes served when we visit our grandparents and then we would always bring some back to Manila. Thank you Featr! 🫰🏻💜
Rich content as always from erwan. There is so much intelligence in your vlogs thus I'm hooked forever. Salamat, erwan, for being the vlogging food anthropologist hereabouts.
It's refreshing and educational for me, not only because you featured my home, San Pablo and Sta. Cruz but you also explored and discovered what we Lagueños have to offer. Thank you Erwan and Featr! PS. It still feels surreal that you guys went to the market we always go to!
I'm a San Pableño and THANK YOU for featuring some of the great things from our beloved city...the next time you come here you try the "kilawin" instead of the typical kilawin that use fish or pork innards...we're using the same fresh water shimps and a bit older "buko" (we call it here -alangan) sarap nyan pramis!
Hi, Erwan! I love that you are featuring the endemic and local culinary wonders of the provinces you go to. Laguna is my birth province and it is indeed so rich with culture and resources. For biya and ayungin and unique fishes, I recommend going to Paombong, Bulacan, my hometown. 🥰
San Pablo ❤❤❤ So mucu to discover in my hometown. Its very interesting to know the reaction of Erwan about the things that I eat everyday here in San Pablo. Makes me so proud to be a San Pableño and would like to explore more of its local dishes.
Every time I watched traveling videos featuring our own provinces in different parts of the Phils (with their own traditional food and cuisine). I always wonder to myself, that I really need to visit these beautiful places. Because I feel like I'm a tourist in my own country. Which is really embarrassing to the point that I only know about these places and food because of these videos. I've only been to Southern Leyte and Tuguegaro, Cagayan (but never really visited the whole place) in terms of provinces. For the rest of my life, I'm just a city girl (Manileña) without even exploring the whole city itself.😅 Hirap din kasi pag walang budget.🤭 So, more of these kind of videos FEATR.🙏😉👌😍 Good luck and God bless!!!🤗😇
Erwan Thank you for giving us quality Food Documentary in the Philippines. Npkgnda ng content nyo po sir Erwan the best FEATR. vlog now lgi ko n pinapnood very interesting and my mttunan kp smga Lugar n pinupuntahan. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Really interesting stuff. It seems that the pinais na ayungin is related to Indonesian "pepes" [pe.pɛs] and Balinese "pes" [pɛs], especially as we see that the base root is 'fish/meat roasted in banana leaves', which is basically what Indonesian pepes and Balinese pes are (except that many versions of pepes and pes are steamed rather than roasted). Also, the languages themselves give us an additional clue, as *ai > [e] is a common change across languages, so *pais > Balinese pes, and Indonesian simply reduplicated the first CV to give *pais > CV+pes > pe-pes, as it tends to not like monosyllabic noun roots.
My Grandparents always ate dried, fried, fish with fresh tomatoes, rice and a little bit of patis. Sometimes they would marinate the fish in vinegar, garlic, salt and pepper, dry it and fry it, and of course eaten with rice and fresh tomatoes. Food memories are the best! Love your videos!
Thank you Erwan!💕 Started watchin’ your food vlogs and I so much appreciate you putting much thought and context to it (giving us a fair background that makes us understand why food are prepared in certain ways). My elderly parents-in-laws live in the US for the longest time now and each time they’d visit us here my mom-in-law would always request for dalag and ayungin. Sad though, I rarely find these fishes in our local market anymore. I am certainly gonna keep on watching your vlogs and will try to cook some of the recipes you feature.😊 God’s abundant blessing always be with and your family Erwan!
Thank you, Erwan, for all the information and the narrative you so knowledgeably put in all your videos. I enjoy watching all your travels and am amazed at all the food you have featured that I know nothing about or even tasted.
I love your videos, Erwan especially you, yourself personally goes to the market. I can see that you are a very humble person & that is one of the very good traits you have. Keep on vlogging! I am one of your avid fan & subscriber. 😘
The fish from my childhood, these fish ayungin and biya are so abundant here in Laguna in 90's to early 2000's.. My auntie's favorite pinangat sa kamias/sampalok na ayungin at adobo sa gatang biya..
Thanks for sharing this video, very informative and I did some coverage on this 7 lakes in San Pablo… And I’m happy you’re speaking few local dialects…
It’s always this kind of content that you put out that I cannot help but question WHERE ARE THE PEOPLE like it’s so tiring to point out how a channel is so underrated like it doesn’t really matter if it’s not anybody else’s cup of tea because it’s an informative video people need to be here we NEED to be here not just for entertainment or whatsoever I don’t know. I really really love this content of featr although I’m probably part of a minority. And the conclusion…the UN with its SDG should partner with you. I
Thank you for this episode. When I get super older, I plan to settle down to either Bicol, Laguna, Bulacan or Batangas. If I'm lucky, Palawan. I love this feature.
I remember a poem about ayungin back when I was in highschool. based on the poem, ayungin was cooked just like paksiw and to savor the flavor you have to sip it.
I’m a local of San Pablo, Laguna, and we’ve been eating biya since childhood. I thought it was just my Dad’s favorite dried fish. I didn’t know it’s our local product. Hahahah! 😁
Hey Erwan, can you interview Jackson Groves. He is an international adventurer/explorer. He lived in Cebu for a while then trekking the globe. He is in PH now and vlogging some amazing content. It'll be great if you can feature him on one of your shows. He was invited 3yrs ago in Red Bull cliff diving in El Nido he was not a participant but vlog the entire competition.
I'm from Laguna, but I've never known these paradise exist! I'm ashamed to call myself as Lagueño. Something to add on my list for roadtrip destinations!!
Wow. Thank you for featuring San Pablo City. Grabe every Sunday we go to Pandin Lake to jog and sobrang usual thing. This video enlightened me to really preserve our tradition and to take care of our nature. Dalaw na kayo! I-tour ko pa kayo😅
