This is what sir erwan is different from other food vlogger or food critic. He, explained well the history. Its like learning at the same time. Entertaining 🙏❤️☺️
Kahit nasa English ang language na gamit sa vlog Nila, MADALI LANG NAMAN MAINTINDIHAN ANG SINASABI nya sa vlog. It's not that hard or complicated to understand.
Thank you FEATR Team for capturing Silay City in it's truest form. So many documentaries about the city but this really captured the true essence of Silay from a culinary pov. I'm one proud Silaynon!
I'm from Iloilo and I always get excited whenever I have hearings in Silay. The first time I went there, I really had a good sleep in one of the old houses that was converted into a Mini-Hotel, Balay 8. I had native coffee in the Patio of that house and it was so peaceful. I heard the birds chirping. Best morning of my life.
I'm a kapampangan and i agree. Been to bacolod and iloilo, may similarities tayo, may yabang tayo pag dating sa food and we havr proof of that. Mabuhay!
Silay is one of the most underrated cities in the country, and as someone who's from Silay City, I wanna thank you sir Erwan for featuring our city- food, heritage, and ambiance 💚
Yes!!!! I've always said this about Ilonggo food, especially in Negros area, our food is severely underrated. Yes, the inasal is nationally and possibly, world known but we are more than that. Love how Silay keeps these legacy foods going and so proud of that. Also, Marit's Piaya is on of Chef JP's fave and he's helped her boom. She deserves it, in fact, all of these people deserve it because they're preserving Pinoy and Ilonggo culture. And also, I love our Ilonggo accent when speaking Tagalog. Ka nami gid ya sang accent ta. ❤❤❤
I remember my 7-year old self walking those streets of Silay from school to home. Now I am living in Iloilo and watching this feature made me miss and appreciate Silay City more
Proud Negrosanon here and I must say, Silay is my dream city to live in in the near future. It's one municipality away from my city, Victorias, but Erwan is so lucky to have a taste of Silay delicacies all at once. I feel like I'm eating vicariously all the foods. And what you call suman is called "ibos" in our language. Great video, FEATR!
I love how the show highlights not just the food but the people and ancestries of the places they visit, Erwan is a true blue filipino more than any other pinoy I know. The show deserves to be seen in all the streaming platform there is, …Netflix maybe? Nice job guys, keep ‘em coming!
This is not just a food review but sir Erwan really did something that makes it special, the stories of different people. It’s like eating dishes and make your tummy full of stories of different people!❤
we're about to climb mt. mandalagan in silay next week and this video just came right in time on my feed.. so excited for the sidetrip in Silay.. thank you Featr!
Makes me want to visit silay and experience this personally. Thank you for always inspiring us to explore our own food, its history and its importance in our modern times. ❤
Born to Ilonggo parents and I love eating all the foods that they cooked for us which were pretty similar to the ones featured in this video. It brought me back to when I was a kid. Thanks Erwan! 😊
I love these series that you have with Ilonggo dishes. I remember my childhood. I am in born in the province of Sultan Kudarat and my ancestors were one of the first settlers in our town and they came from Antique. I can relate with all the dishes you featured especially one of my favorites Baye-baye and KBL . Can't wait to take a trip to the Visayas and trying these restaurants and places you've featured! Namit tanan nga pagkaon ah. ❤
I think you just directed me to my next destination when I visit Phils. I really envy and also appreciate what you’re doing as it open a new avenue for people like us who are longing for stories of our home country. You’re opening our eyes that we left our country not knowing that it can offer more. These segments really insinuate what small provinces like Silay can offer. Wow amazing!
Dang, I left Silay last year and moved abroad. Seeing this video is just making me homesick. The scenes captured are basically the streets I walk when I am on an errand or when I wanna stretch my legs. I'm missing the food too. Kinda needed this vid. Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking notice of Silay. Emma Lacson is my first stopover for fresh lumpia always, easier when the airport is in the vicinity. I was amused that you went to the mercado first for the kakanin. In Silay it was known as the maniglibod (roving vendors) usually composed of women plying food to households. My uncle, Ramon Hofileña would gather a few of them at our ancestral home during his annual cultural tours which ran about 32years to have the participants buy and taste the local treats. As I recall, most of the manoglibod would claim that they got their products from Emma Lacson. El Ideal was our merienda spot while growing up. Most families are related that whenever we ran short of cash, the cashier would tell us that they will get the short amount from our Lola Gilda as she ordered their pan de siosa at 3pm daily. There are the Legaspi pastel or mango tart and dulce gatas that was made from carabao milk that we make a point to bring back for relatives outside of the province. Again, thank you.
Wow! I'm a fan of Chef JP, and when he goes home, he would also make a food tour on his channel, but not in this level that, he'll show businesses that has recipes that were passed a long from a generation to another is being shown. Incredible content!
Born in bacolod…my parents and husband were ilonggo but visited few times only…now i have something to look forward to in my next visit to negros…will follow all the itinerary and taste all the food you had featured. Im excited🤩
This is my hometown and I currently reside here and to be honest, i learned and discovered more local delicacies in this video than talking to those who really grew up here ( we transferred in silay way back 2009. I am about to enter college at that time). In addition, the first lady where Erwan bought some kakanin happens to be my mom’s highschool batchmate and the guy who cooks the empanada happens to be one of my gym mates before ❤
Thank you for showcasing the home made family heirloom recipes of the Locsin and Lacson families, those are some of the pioneering clans that helped shaped the cities of Silay, Talisay, and Bacolod as a whole metro that it is today.
For years El Ideal fresh lumpia is the most popular, sure is going to try the others when I get back, thank you for all the other good food descriptions, thank you and more shows to you and your crew.
More than just Inasal, Negros is undeniably just the Desserts Capital of the Philippines. Like no one could ever compete. Period. If you are looking for Afternoon Teas, Decadence, Colonial vibe. Silay is the place to be. I really hope the government invites all contractors to build more colonial architecture.. such a city with class and sophistication.
So proud of my province! Makes me miss home and our good food! Negrense Represent! Thanks so much featr! Most people explore the capital cities of each provinces and documentaries like this, paved way for people to also explore the other towns and cities which preserves hidden gems and in this case, the food! Silay city, indeed our Paris of negros, where there’s good food and feels of history, while living in the present
As someone who spent most of his childhood in Silay, watching this makes me feel so proud to call this home. Having gone to so many amazing places in different corners of the world has allowed me to appreciate my home city even more. It’s always a part of my DNA wherever I go. Thank you, Erwan for this informative and flavorful content!
How I miss all those foods. It makes my mouth watery just watching you enjoying my taste of food when I grow up. I still in some way integrate in my american cooking. Love everything.
I am so happy to see my town still doing their best to keep the heritage preserved. I can wish my grandparent's still alive, but I know they were all gone many many Years ago. Missed my town.

Sir and Ma'ams has finally been featured in a vlog! They're really underrated, a lot of people even in Bacolod don't know such place with amazing dishes exists. It's one of the restaurant's I'd like to gatekeep, but they also deserve recognition since they've been around for decades.

Thank you for featuring Silay's greatest heirloom foods. This reminded me so much of my mom who was born in Negros. She has wonderful stories about Silay. Everything about the province is unique and beautiful. It is a wonderful reminder that we can always go back and visit one of our ancestors' hometown. Erwan's voice and remarkable storytelling skill is another level of edible history lesson. Congratulations for always highlighting the most underrated yet very rich cultural heritage of our Archipelago ❤
