The big ammo pouch is apparently accurate to live action for whatever reason so idk if you’d consider that a flaw now or what but the other two I agree with
1 of those things is acceptable, the other is accurate, the helmet holes are OK, and the ammo pouch is accurate since this is a hybrid style for clone armor the kamma is definitely a L for an adult set

Even if it wasn’t “accurate”, it’s a Lego figure with completely unrealistic proportions which is obviously going to have a stylised design that cannot be compared 1:1 with what it is trying to represent. I’ve never heard people complaining about the Clone Wars or Rebels character designs having inaccurate proportions to their original live-action versions. It’s a completely different medium.
This is best Venator so far, beats even most of MOC builds. This is impressive work from creators. I might gonna buy first time UCS from official Lego. Most of time I didn't bother to get for such price but this Venator is just gorgeus! ❤

Thanks for the nice close-ups of the bridge. Good to see they used mostly common pieces so it'll be very very easy to replace the dark red bricks with grey ones for an Episode III-accurate model. The top line should also be an easy fix as the RotS version is just a massive red middle which means you just need to fill the rest of the line until the end with dark red tiles. Definitely buying this one once Amazon or Fnac gets it and puts it on discount.
Honestly just seeing this thumbnail made me smile so much. The set is a beauty, was shocked and overjoyed when I saw it a while ago. Looks so amazing in person.
I was really disappointed the UCS star destroyer was retired before I was able to buy one. However now seeing the Venator I think it's a worthy replacement and my new collection goal. Only thing I would improve on it is I would swap out the Captain rex minifigure for one of the clone navy officers. I feel that minifigure makes more sense with the Venator and Admiral yularen. Even with that aside I really think this is a phenomenal Lego set, I hope to see more prequel/clone wars era UCS sets.
Ngl looks bigger and more amazing than I expected, I can't wait to buy this set! I always wish the bottom of sets had more detail but I know it makes sets more expensive with not a lot of added value for most people so I'll take whatever I can get lol

Great in depth review! Seems the general consensus is that if you (like me) are getting this because you love the Venator and dont really care for 2 minifigs, its as close to 10/10 as it can realistically get.

I’m actually super happy this set exists the captain Rex is ok could have been better the stickers are annoying but everything else Is good. I say a 9.5/ 10 also great video!
Glad I got a custom one a few years back. Not as big but with a bit more detail and I saved $200 on it. Yay! Set still looks great and for people who can't navigate the bricklink/rebrickable train to get everything, it's certainly good.
I remember they used to do transparent clear background stickers to preserve piece colors. That would solve the miscolored sticker problem. The bubbles on those were pretty bad though.
That was bloody quick, really makes you wonder what the hell is the point of LAN if the common collecter can get his hands on one of these faster than their chosen few.
I think it'd be impossible to get the perfect shade of a brick on a sticker for the perfect blend from plates to bricks. I think if they really wanted to keep stickers they could make them clear

well I gotta say- they listened to the fans and gave us what we asked for, even the minifig selection is excellent, no clone commander that doubles as a republic officer. I know it has flaws but it's one of those cases of "it's just so good despite them" and I gotta go with 10/10. It's gonna be like my UCS B-wing, everytime I enter the room I look at it and it makes me smile, it's gonna be even more of the case with Venator when I buy it.
Personally, I think Lego should do a line of minifigure-scale interiors, especially bridges of ships like the venator, imperial star destroyer, home one etc. Having that with all the crew would be cool

I agree the pauldron could've been shorter like the artillery trooper, but it's not a deal breaker. While the waist kama would be nice, I can see why Lego is shying away from them as it removes some playability. Also wanting to keep it consistent with all the other clone troopers they've released over the past few years. I'm definitely getting this set. Maybe two. When Lego does 2x VIP (now Insiders), do they offer 2x on large UCS sets like this? I only ask because I won't wait if it's pointless.
Please stop making illogical excuses for Lego. Yes, the helmet holes are indeed needed for accessories, but they're in the wrong place, and as a result the holes are stacked on top of the places on the mold of the helmet where the holes should actually be. Because of this, the rangefinder is also higher than it actually should be. This looks terrible, and even if these things don't bother you personally, they are objectively inaccurate to the source material and therefore are objective flaws. The shorter pauldron would've been more accurate, and again, even if it doesn't bother you, it's objectively inaccurate to the source material, and therefore a flaw. The cloth kama does not remove playability. It doesn't. If you want to do something specific with the minifigure that the cloth kama prevents you from doing, you can remove it, but even if it *did* hinder playability, *that doesn't matter at all in this set.* This is a UCS set that isn't minifigure scale, and as such, there are no interactive play functions that the minifigures are even compatible with. I can understand why the Snowtroopers in the UCS AT-AT didn't have cloth kamas, since having them could've interfered with the Snowtroopers sitting on the seats in the AT-AT that were meant for them. The same does not apply here. There's nowhere for Rex to sit down or anything like that, and as such there's no excuse for that exclusive Rex minifigure in a $650 UCS set to not be %100 accurate. Also, keeping it consistent with other clones isn't really a good argument either. Lego makes improvements to their minifigures all the time, and again, this is a minifigure in an expensive UCS set. It should be as accurate as possible.
@@kylescott6608 Keeping it consistent is a perfect argument. Lego has been printing the waist kama's for a while now. These aren't new molds, prints, or generational redesigns. It would be odd to have some with printed kama and others without "within the same generation and type" of figure. To switch it now would be odd. Same with the helmet holes. They need those holes for the other accessories, plus it's the mold they are using for all the recent clones. Ashoka 332nd, Coruscant Guard, AT-TE, and 501st Specialist Battle pack all use the same helmet mold. Why would they switch molds now for a single figure in a single set? That wouldn't make financial sense as a company to do that here. It's s nice figure. I much prefer this one to the old, especially after seeing the live action version. I'm not going to knock it because of a waist cloth and for using the same helmet mold as all the other clones have for years.

I am insanely proud to say that my first ucs set is this beautiful beast, the only ucs set that could ever rival this in my opinion is if Lego made an eclipse class super star destroyer, but that is very wishful thinking unless it gets put into canon as I believe it’s only in legends.
hot take: the only real problem i have with rex is the printed waist cape. the helmet holes have never bothered me on any troopers and him being able to have a pathfinder is an improvement over the last rex, the helmet print look amazing and vibrant, and the ammo pouch on his chest looks fine to me. i understand its not correct to source material, but lego figures nee maintain a certain amount of simplicity and cartoonness in their prints because the figures are cartoon like. some figures just have too much detail and i dislike that more than super simple ones missing some details. i think that the ammo pouch on the older rex looked worse than this one, it didn't scale well to the style of the character. I understand that for $650 lego shouldn't be skipping out on a figure, and that very much applies to the waist cape, but i think most everything else about this figure is up to preference. I think this is the best rex we have ever gotten and i can't wait to have my own

It is a little bit sad to me that this is not based on ROTS. The live action version has so many different/ better-looking angles. And they even had ROTS box art inside. I am definitely gonna try converting this to the live action version!
@@humptusdumptus4123 It is actually a bunch of differences between the clone wars and live action variant. This model has all the clone wars details correct. The back side of the tower bridge has a simpler design. It has 3 angles on the front side of the tower bridge, not 4. The large red hanger opening is angled, not flat. It has 8 engines, not 10, and the top ones are plased a little different too. From a front side view, the tower is almost 90°, and the live action variant has much more angle running up to the bridge. There are also a lot of smaller differences, like where the republic logo is placed and the surrounding areas of the turrest. I myself think the live action variant has a more masculine look and has some better-looking angles overall.

Clear stickers are terrible. Also there are many 3rd party sticker companies who make an exact match to the pigment of the bricks

well I gotta say- they listened to the fans and gave us what we asked for, even the minifig selection is excellent, no clone commander that doubles as a republic officer.
I know it has flaws but it's one of those cases of "it's just so good despite them" and I gotta go with 10/10. It's gonna be like my UCS B-wing, everytime I enter the room I look at it and it makes me smile, it's gonna be even more of the case with Venator when I buy it.
Personally, I think Lego should do a line of minifigure-scale interiors, especially bridges of ships like the venator, imperial star destroyer, home one etc. Having that with all the crew would be cool
You’re describing the master builder series. They have yet to add ships to my knowledge but I agree that would be very good

Great review! 🙂I'm fine with the Rex ammo pouch as it matches the live action Rex we saw in Ashoka perfectly. The helmet holes are needed for the rangefinder. I agree the pauldron could've been shorter like the artillery trooper, but it's not a deal breaker. While the waist kama would be nice, I can see why Lego is shying away from them as it removes some playability. Also wanting to keep it consistent with all the other clone troopers they've released over the past few years.
I'm definitely getting this set. Maybe two. When Lego does 2x VIP (now Insiders), do they offer 2x on large UCS sets like this? I only ask because I won't wait if it's pointless.

Please stop making illogical excuses for Lego. Yes, the helmet holes are indeed needed for accessories, but they're in the wrong place, and as a result the holes are stacked on top of the places on the mold of the helmet where the holes should actually be. Because of this, the rangefinder is also higher than it actually should be. This looks terrible, and even if these things don't bother you personally, they are objectively inaccurate to the source material and therefore are objective flaws. The shorter pauldron would've been more accurate, and again, even if it doesn't bother you, it's objectively inaccurate to the source material, and therefore a flaw. The cloth kama does not remove playability. It doesn't. If you want to do something specific with the minifigure that the cloth kama prevents you from doing, you can remove it, but even if it *did* hinder playability, *that doesn't matter at all in this set.* This is a UCS set that isn't minifigure scale, and as such, there are no interactive play functions that the minifigures are even compatible with. I can understand why the Snowtroopers in the UCS AT-AT didn't have cloth kamas, since having them could've interfered with the Snowtroopers sitting on the seats in the AT-AT that were meant for them. The same does not apply here. There's nowhere for Rex to sit down or anything like that, and as such there's no excuse for that exclusive Rex minifigure in a $650 UCS set to not be %100 accurate. Also, keeping it consistent with other clones isn't really a good argument either. Lego makes improvements to their minifigures all the time, and again, this is a minifigure in an expensive UCS set. It should be as accurate as possible.
@@kylescott6608 Keeping it consistent is a perfect argument. Lego has been printing the waist kama's for a while now. These aren't new molds, prints, or generational redesigns. It would be odd to have some with printed kama and others without "within the same generation and type" of figure. To switch it now would be odd. Same with the helmet holes. They need those holes for the other accessories, plus it's the mold they are using for all the recent clones. Ashoka 332nd, Coruscant Guard, AT-TE, and 501st Specialist Battle pack all use the same helmet mold. Why would they switch molds now for a single figure in a single set? That wouldn't make financial sense as a company to do that here.
It's s nice figure. I much prefer this one to the old, especially after seeing the live action version. I'm not going to knock it because of a waist cloth and for using the same helmet mold as all the other clones have for years.
I know it’s three months later but just wanna say I’m getting my venator in two days and I am so excited I’m coming back to watch all the videos to hype myself up even more. This gonna be my favorite set ever.
I love this set, while I still prefer the AT AT, this is amazing. Of course all that matters is the Minifigure’s and they look great.
All that matters is the minifigures? I get that for a battle pack but you cannot say that for a UCS set.

I am insanely proud to say that my first ucs set is this beautiful beast, the only ucs set that could ever rival this in my opinion is if Lego made an eclipse class super star destroyer, but that is very wishful thinking unless it gets put into canon as I believe it’s only in legends.
hot take: the only real problem i have with rex is the printed waist cape. the helmet holes have never bothered me on any troopers and him being able to have a pathfinder is an improvement over the last rex, the helmet print look amazing and vibrant, and the ammo pouch on his chest looks fine to me. i understand its not correct to source material, but lego figures nee maintain a certain amount of simplicity and cartoonness in their prints because the figures are cartoon like. some figures just have too much detail and i dislike that more than super simple ones missing some details. i think that the ammo pouch on the older rex looked worse than this one, it didn't scale well to the style of the character. I understand that for $650 lego shouldn't be skipping out on a figure, and that very much applies to the waist cape, but i think most everything else about this figure is up to preference. I think this is the best rex we have ever gotten and i can't wait to have my own
The quality and honesty of your videos really are top notch. Your reviews are excellent, and my favorite are you comparison videos, so really looking forward to the Star destroyers comparison. You have solidified yourself as the only Lego reviewer I will watch (at least for Star Wars, anyway). Still waiting for that "All landspeeders" comparison video... It is a little bit sad to me that this is not based on ROTS. The live action version has so many different/ better-looking angles. And they even had ROTS box art inside. I am definitely gonna try converting this to the live action version!

@@humptusdumptus4123 It is actually a bunch of differences between the clone wars and live action variant. This model has all the clone wars details correct. The back side of the tower bridge has a simpler design. It has 3 angles on the front side of the tower bridge, not 4. The large red hanger opening is angled, not flat. It has 8 engines, not 10, and the top ones are plased a little different too. From a front side view, the tower is almost 90°, and the live action variant has much more angle running up to the bridge. There are also a lot of smaller differences, like where the republic logo is placed and the surrounding areas of the turrest. I myself think the live action variant has a more masculine look and has some better-looking angles overall.
