    I love that the instructions are low barrier to entry and not $15-$50 for something you have to then buy parts for.
    Where it's better to have something available than "exclusive" instructions because of entitlement to a passion project.
    Which is deserved (do with your IP as you will) BUT it's refreshing to see nicely priced instructions for cool builds that took work then make me feel like I can spend money supporting a creator .....without feeling like funding a business premium for no reason besides "building and designing with Legos takes time" on a digital asset....

      I agree with this 100%! I've been on and off about building my own in this scale since the UCS Venator came out but I haven't gotten around to it. Seeing the instructions are so affordable, I can't help but support the designer and get my hands on the perfect ship to boot!

    This is by far the greatest venator model I have ever seen. I love huge and large scale mocs and ucs sets, but this is true perfection. This moc has a perfect balance between size and detail, and the small size makes it a perfect desk display piece. Congrats.

    Welp, that's it, I admit defeat. The Venator has been my white whale in terms of midi-scale design. I have done almost everything else, both ISDs, both Victory-Classes, Acclamator, Munificent, Recusant, Providence, MC80, MC75, MC30c, Nebulon-B, you name it, but the Venator has been the only nut I could never crack. This build is as close to perfect as one can hope to get. I am ecstatic to finally, at long last, get one of these on the shelf, especially one that looks THIS good.

    Actually, the BEST midi scale venator I’ve ever seen. LEGO certainly couldn’t do it, and definitely won’t for the next few years because of the full USC size model out right now.
    Ive always loved this ship because of its perfect proportions and angles, but I hate it as much because of how hard it is to get it right. You got everything spot on. Bravo.
    That being said, I totally get the compromises you had to make in the design:
    No1- the height/size of the bridge superstructure isn’t tall enough. Though you got the angles and slopes of it correct, it gives the model an overall squat appearance.
    No2- The snot technique for the “wings” was really creative and got it right. Such a shame that the pieces are so thick, giving the model a back heavy appearance. I wonder if there is a way to achieve this with plates (although I am sure you already tried)
    Great job otherwise 👍

    • @crazydog1750
      @crazydog1750  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol, someone else told me that the bridge was TOO tall. So I guess I found a happy medium. 😂😂
      And oh boy did I try to flatten that back out. I tried like ten or fifteen COMPLETELY different designs. I actually scrapped all of my progress and started from scratch eight or nine times.

    Thanks for the video and great model.
    Sadly as a venator enthusiast i need to subtract some points here and there cause i prefer the clone wars version of the Venator to the episode 3 one and this one seems to be a hybrid?
    That means for me the Open Circle fleet emblems are at the wrong place, the hangar door easter egg should be removed and some slight editing to the back needs to be done (on the wings above the engines). Oddly your bridge has more resemblence to the clone wars model than the episode 3 one wich make it hugely possitive for me and you also appear to have used clone wars accurate engine layout (the episode 3 one has another pair below the hyperdrive housing and has some weird engine cowling panels).
    stupid critigue aside it is one of the best if not THE best midi venator model i have seen. Especially since you took great care to model the underside with the same detail as the top (many such models have a lazy underside). My personal tip for next time would be to look closer at what source you are using to make ships especially in the clone wars era as because of the many different mediums it was presented in over the years there are significant differences in the ship models (even the clone wars venator is 5 different models throughout the years which have detail- and later even structural differences)

    I love that mindset to free MOC sets as unloike Lego sets or paid Mocs people can reasly change the set to their liking for free which can get extemly expensive for Lego sets like the current Gunship shows even if yyou want it in it's normal colors not Corsunti guard... Which I can love this as much as my MOC MIDI Pride of the Core... As I can aprcate diffent Lego styles even the new 4+ lego sets that are insanely over prices but yeah... My Lego style is much like my pixel/low poly art style ancent and uqniue... KLike my pride of the core doesn't look like it was a '00s Lego set though it is extemly remenst to one... But this is awepomes like I said it look exactly like a USC set just MIDI instead... Which is something that is extemly hard to do in lego and I don't think Lego thhemshelves do it well very much... Like the upscaled Minifig is tghe only one that comes to mind...

    I havent looked through all the comments, but was there a mention about how much this would cost in parts?

      If you're decently knowledgeable with BrickLink, you can probably get them all for about $120.

    Are all of those ship in scale with the official lego Malevolant ?

    • @crazydog1750
      @crazydog1750  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately not. The Malevolence would need to be about twice as long.

      I’m not savvy enough with Studio and Rebrickable yet to know how to do that, but it’s only like six pieces you’d have to swap out.

      @ Export the parts list to BrickLink, then it’ll find all the stores that carry the parts for you.

    was there no way to replace the ingots on the upper side with 4 stud long "wing" plates?

    • @crazydog1750
      @crazydog1750  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I could’ve, but I prefer the look of the ingots over a wedge plate right there.

    While your good at making midi sized star wars ships, I have two mocs of the us battleships texas and Arizona lol, do you have any tips for using bricklink studio? I would love to make instructions for them, but I have no clue how to use that, and I don't think I can rn because my computer is kind of broken rn

      Honestly, just download it and play around with it. Spend a while just familiarizing yourself with it.
