Just a reminder for all you who are building this, there is a video tutorial in the Rebrickable description to help you attach the top and bottom halves of this thing together.
I love that the instructions are low barrier to entry and not $15-$50 for something you have to then buy parts for. Where it's better to have something available than "exclusive" instructions because of entitlement to a passion project. Which is deserved (do with your IP as you will) BUT it's refreshing to see nicely priced instructions for cool builds that took work then make me feel like I can spend money supporting a creator .....without feeling like funding a business premium for no reason besides "building and designing with Legos takes time" on a digital asset....
I agree with this 100%! I've been on and off about building my own in this scale since the UCS Venator came out but I haven't gotten around to it. Seeing the instructions are so affordable, I can't help but support the designer and get my hands on the perfect ship to boot!
This is by far the greatest venator model I have ever seen. I love huge and large scale mocs and ucs sets, but this is true perfection. This moc has a perfect balance between size and detail, and the small size makes it a perfect desk display piece. Congrats.
Welp, that's it, I admit defeat. The Venator has been my white whale in terms of midi-scale design. I have done almost everything else, both ISDs, both Victory-Classes, Acclamator, Munificent, Recusant, Providence, MC80, MC75, MC30c, Nebulon-B, you name it, but the Venator has been the only nut I could never crack. This build is as close to perfect as one can hope to get. I am ecstatic to finally, at long last, get one of these on the shelf, especially one that looks THIS good.
Wow this MOC is great! Just checked the parts list on Bricklink- Currently it would cost me a little bit under 60 euros which is genuinely amazing considering the attention to detail and the presentability of this MOC. Great job man!
Dude, this is legitimately one of the best models I've ever seen. If I saw this in a thumbnail with the title of new star wars lego set I would've believed it. As someone who just bought the Acclimator set, I wish I invested in buying the bricks and instructions for this model instead.
Absolutely amazing work. The fact that you as a fan/buyer/creator could design and build this and lego couldn't speaks volumes and is something to be admired and celebrated. You deserve all the compliments, money and opportunities this project could/will bring you. I will definitely add this to my list, even though I already own the large scale UCS venator. Great work! You earned a subscriber!
This looks absolutely insane!!! I've never bought a custom moc, but these builds are tempting me! 😂 I know it'd be very difficult, but it'd be awesome to see the Malevolence in this scale! Maybe you could also make a Republic medical frigate and nebulon b frigate.
A Subjugator in this scale would probably be around the size of the UCS Venator. I think I need some more experience… and money… before I could tackle that. 🤣
It’s amazing! I can’t say I’ll be buying the instructions, but that’s largely because you’ve inspired me to build my own, tweaked for how I want to display it (and done faster because I don’t care how fragile it is, or about the underside). I have to say, the forecastle is excellent, and I’m going to copy your turrets when I get the parts.
Great job dude! I also can't wait to see your MC80 liberty cruiser, just bought the Home One and man is it a good model. Hopefully someday we could see the MC85 or even 75 (doubtful because of the big ass fin but always stay positive)
Actually, the BEST midi scale venator I’ve ever seen. LEGO certainly couldn’t do it, and definitely won’t for the next few years because of the full USC size model out right now. Ive always loved this ship because of its perfect proportions and angles, but I hate it as much because of how hard it is to get it right. You got everything spot on. Bravo. That being said, I totally get the compromises you had to make in the design: No1- the height/size of the bridge superstructure isn’t tall enough. Though you got the angles and slopes of it correct, it gives the model an overall squat appearance. No2- The snot technique for the “wings” was really creative and got it right. Such a shame that the pieces are so thick, giving the model a back heavy appearance. I wonder if there is a way to achieve this with plates (although I am sure you already tried) Great job otherwise 👍
Lol, someone else told me that the bridge was TOO tall. So I guess I found a happy medium. 😂😂 And oh boy did I try to flatten that back out. I tried like ten or fifteen COMPLETELY different designs. I actually scrapped all of my progress and started from scratch eight or nine times.
I'd watch a longer cut. Definitely want to hear more about your design and whatnot. Phenomenal job, with this model! The scene from Revenge of the Sith is just asking to be replicated in midi-scale. Just got the Invisible Hand and have been looking into a decent Venator model at the same scale to have a nice battle on my shelf. I have the old Venator set with Palpatine as well, but it doesn't look that great beside the midi-scale model.
I'm not really in a place to be building custom sets right now, but this one sure is tempting. Much moreso than any of the BrickVault ones. I hope that if Lego ever does an official Venator in that scale it looks at least halfway as good
This is awesome. I'd imagine to get the 4 main capital ships as close as possible. The Home One would have to be a bit larger too. And a Lucrehulk in midi scale would have to be almost the size of the ISD
This is EXACTLY what I’ve been wanting LEGO to make! Beautiful work! I bought the MOC files but do you have a parts list with the instructions? I want to be able to order the right pieces too.
I bought all three of these great moc instructions, soon I will get the parts too. It's well deserved money. The Acclamator is already on its way, but I will execute some modifications, especially on the lower side. Somehow lego has a tendency for serious inaccuracies.
@crazydog1750 We will see. Unusual building process is the fun of it, that's also the big-brainer part from the inventor. I built some space marines and there it was full of it, that's also what I'm most proud of.
Is this MOC based on the Ep3 model and not the SWCW model? Watching the video, I love the overall design and I absolutely agree that the bottom is very important. The attention to detail is spectacular!
Gonna be honest, it's not the prettiest venator I've ever seen, but it's sure as hell the strongest. I could never fuck with my venator moc the way you can with yours
Thanks for the video and great model. Sadly as a venator enthusiast i need to subtract some points here and there cause i prefer the clone wars version of the Venator to the episode 3 one and this one seems to be a hybrid? That means for me the Open Circle fleet emblems are at the wrong place, the hangar door easter egg should be removed and some slight editing to the back needs to be done (on the wings above the engines). Oddly your bridge has more resemblence to the clone wars model than the episode 3 one wich make it hugely possitive for me and you also appear to have used clone wars accurate engine layout (the episode 3 one has another pair below the hyperdrive housing and has some weird engine cowling panels). stupid critigue aside it is one of the best if not THE best midi venator model i have seen. Especially since you took great care to model the underside with the same detail as the top (many such models have a lazy underside). My personal tip for next time would be to look closer at what source you are using to make ships especially in the clone wars era as because of the many different mediums it was presented in over the years there are significant differences in the ship models (even the clone wars venator is 5 different models throughout the years which have detail- and later even structural differences)
That's some really good shaping there. Unfortunately I think it's juuuuust a bit too big for the scale I need. But maybe I can adapt it, shrink it down a tad. Just how long is it, I wonder?
