    If you want to eliminate continually cleaning/polishing "raw" aluminum parts, like your wheels, then treat them with 1500 (clear) alodine.
    It's an aerospace coating that protects "raw" aluminum aircraft parts from the elements.
    It's important to not forget to neutralize the alodine with distilled water after the treatment - alodine is an acid that will continue to etch the aluminum until neutralized w/water.

    I remember seeing the "Warlock" and "Little red express" in the dealership many years ago. My dad was buying a "D 50" pickup. I remember being disappointed that he wasn't getting one of the "cool trucks." The little import was great though - lasted many years. A trick for cloudy anodized aluminum is Vaseline. It doesn't remove the oxidation, but hides it well for a few washings. 👍
    Edit: forgot to tell you that the truck is beautiful! 👍

      @LilRedGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks jeff! A friend of mine bought one of those d-50’s it was black with yellow orange and red stripes. I could see how the Vaseline would work. While the compound was “wet” it looked great and it dried the cloudiness returned. I may try that thanks!

    I always really liked the '77-'78 Dodge truck grill(along with the original '72-73 one)...I felt the '79-'80 grill was a step backward, especially the standard single headlight versions...reverted to the older setup of parking lights below the grill, and the grill itself reminded me of a mishmash of the '72-73 and '74-76 grill designs. I wish they had stuck with the '77-78 grill with the new hood for '79-80, and maybe offered an optional rectangular headlight option, sort of like Ford did for '78.....

    I enjoy watching your videos, thanks for posting. I am restoring a 77 black warlock myself so I can relate to a lot of what you're doing. Try Never Dull on your grill. That is what I used and it worked good for me.

      Well thanks for watching! These trucks are not easy to restore, but all the hard work is so worth it! Good luck with your Warlock! Good call with the never dull, I did try that before I started buffing, with similar results!

    BRO! DITCH THE COMPOUND! All you had to do was a dip in CLR or a Simple Green concentrate overnight. I do that to all chrome/aluminum and then I wipe with TARN-X and wrap up with distilled water on a microfiber cloth. Absolute perfection. Then, you wrap up with three layers of PPG clear coat. Perfection.

    I see stacks!! Check that little ground wire on the rad support by the battery...that'll keep the headlights from working. Been there done that! That grill turned out great, the headlight chromes and bumper really tied it all in. Beautiful truck! Can't wait for the exhaust video.

      I agree! I bought this truck from out of state only seeing a few crappy pictures. I was amazed with the condition of the grille when it arrived. The grille alone was worth what I paid for the whole truck lol.
      I will pick up some Met-All and give it a try, thanks for the tip!!!

    Absolutely beautiful. I've got a question if you're willing to share your knowledge? Ive got a 73 and the grill is beautiful shape but the anodizing is not. If I strip it can it be clear coated with automotive quality paint? I'm worried about adhesion without some type of etching primer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @LilRedGarage
      @LilRedGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Matt! There are products out there to clear over polished aluminum. I know they do it with wheels. I’m not real familiar with them. You are correct just using automotive clear over it you will not get good adhesion. There are also places that can re-clear anodize it, I’ve heard it quite costly, and you’d probably have to ship the grille witch can be risky.

    Just curious, what's the deal with covering up half your headlights with a chrome piece? Does that not really affect your headlight output at night? I guess it looks cool to some, but that sort of thing is not for me...but at least they aren't those god-awful looking modern plastic LED replacements with all the weird-looking little "dots" in them....

Dynoed over 500hp 550ftpd. 10.5-1 compression on pump gas. Should be fun on the street. I know it’s not a 4spd but the 727 is built and has 3500 stall Hughes converter and 4.10 sure grip out back.
