that dashcam video looked great - my sister's just bought herself a new car to cart the kids around - a great big silver hybrid thing they've nicknamed megatron - i think i might get her a dashcam as an early Christmas/birthday present.

I'm over 65 and still change out my own tires with this changer. From 8" trailer tires to my E250 245 10 ply tires and my toyota as well.

This one guy sells this adapter that fits over the Harbor Freight tire machine. If you do a search for Lucid adapter, it should pop up. Maybe you two can do a collaboration to show how it works :D

I have used this same tire machine over the past a few years for atv tires. It does the job most of the time. All of the shops near me refuse to work on them so it was also my only option. I had to weld some reinforcement bars on the debeader after I kept bending it. That helped it out a lot but it is still sometimes a pain to use and is constantly clanking around. I can’t complain though for the price it is worth it.

These tire changers are fantastic, HF needs to have a PRODUCT DEMO WEEKEND on some their most popular items. Ps l loved when you showed us that old Vector aluminum rim on the Jeep with all the surface pitting, worrying about scratching the bead edge, and the mounting bolt looked a little loose. 😊 good luck

Thanks for the review, Ernest. Was hoping to see it in use on a tire swap, but maybe next time. 👍

Good review. Very thorough and not overly repetitive. Love the OMBAR plug! I am looking at TCMs to work on trailer tires. You and I agree, even at $20 a tire mounted and balanced while I grocery shop is worth more that TCMs like this and I ain't going into the $1.5K range as a home worker and not mechanic business.

Used the Harbor Freight tire changer for several years. It works fine for car tires and lawn equipment. Must be mounted solid to floor. Did weld the base solid and put gussets at the base of the post. Don't skimp on tire lube and it does the job. Slow and steady. It was $35 as an open box item. Also have a vintage Coats which is considerable heavier and beefier for larger tires. Problem is that center post on the Coats is too thick for most car rims with the small center openings.

It’s a good product if modified. I use it for all my car and truck tires. I ended up adding to the bead breaker. Didn’t have concrete to secure it to make it stable ended welding the legs and making a stable base all welded up. Lost the piece that holds the tire on and went with another piece that was lot better removes tires good putting it back on takes work. But been great help payed for it self with me 10 times over balancing is cheap most everywhere

Here's what you need. 30 bucks with a coupon tire changer, 50 for the pittsburgh bead breaker, 150 for a quality no mar dismount/mount bar. Use large washers on base. Even if you break the base, it's 30 bucks on sale. If you break the base, probably not using the no-mar bar.

Adding a duck head and a decent machined centering cône changes every things😉

You can do so many mods to that lil tire changer, theirs even this mod called a duck something where it replaces the deal that screws on their to remove tires a whole lot easier

Looks like maybe welding the tire changer in addition to using the assembly bolts might have helped? Can u weld it back together and get a few more uses out of it before it's complete trash?

Been using one for years on car and truck tires. It can be a pain sometimes, u have to go slow and steady with pressure to break the bead. Also I don't use the top part to take off or put on the tires

I forgot to mention the holes are not in the right spots exactly in the concrete so tighteing it up out of place is not an otion.

old tires youre better off taking them to a tire shop. old less pliable tires can be extremely difficult to get off. youll know when you go to use the tire changer and the tire doesnt want to slide off with that long bar. doesnt matter on some tires how much silicone spray or soapy water you use

That tool is not sufficient for automotive wheels. I'm very surprised that it was labeled for such use.
My experience: nothing is better than old-fashioned tire breaker, sledge, and a tire tool for "field" work. When you get used to that, you can usually perform that method faster than most people can use a changing station.
That, of course, assumes an entirely manual station. No pneumatics or hydraulics. There are really good ones out there, but ground-and-pound method is the only one that never fails.

    Well that answered that.
Considered one after being hit up 12 bucks a pop for ATV tire change.
As always we get what we pay for.
    Thanks
Time to put the welder to use.
Looks like $30 spent at the local Steel Yard would allow one to build something much more substantial and with real world improvements.
Few people think about building their own tools.
Almost everyone I know who has purchased a welder purchases a generic welding cart with little casters that barely roll over concrete. I built mine that actually holds what I have and it has 8 inch pneumatic tires. Cost was less than $50. And So It Goes.
