Once you reach maximum stacks of the debuff, but your max hp is still more than 10, you can just restart the game to reset the debuff to its maximum duration. This way you can increase your health infinitely with just one mage.
that's pretty much what happened, for a game about experimenting with different mechanics, being immune to debuffs and reversing them to your advantage seemed like a perfectly reasonable exploit to convert into a useable mechanic.
Finding hearts and mages is far easier than finding Ambrosia. There are tons of both in the temple but I had runs where I found one bottle in the whole world.
One really good run where I found several ambrosia potions but not any max hps in the jungle, and a good run right after that one where I found a bunch of max hps and heart mages but no ambrosia lol
Great video. It's also possible to move hearts to the heart mage. Hearts will naturally fall if you dig under them. This means you can drop down an entire column of health refreshes for example to the level where the heart mage is at. So like for example if you find a heart mage in a parallel world, you can use blackholes to drop all the health refreshes down to that level. Even though the health refreshes are individually less strong, because they are all vertically in the same location they are actually just as valuable if not more valuable (if you have remaining ones above you). Another way to move hearts is by using vacuum field or circle of buoyancy. Each holy mountain contains a worm crystal, which you can redeem for more extra health pickups. Then you can drop those health pickups down to where your heart mages are at. And I do mean plural because if you go far enough with this you'll need multiple. Above about 10 thousand health you need two heart mages; above about 10 million you need three, etc.

Every god run ends in polymorph death unless you do one of the many extremely elaborate ways to negate polymorph. Don’t let that stop you from getting the next god run
OMG! Give him your tele wand! So obvious!!!! Holy hell. I've spent literal days of my life trying to lure these idiots, over the course of various runs.... Last time I made a homebringer wand to pull one out from the Lukki Lair since the Jungle had none, even that took maybe 15min all told. Worth it cuz I'd collected five hearts in one place, but the stress levels were thru the roof.
Found this out myself, increased my health with the mage while having glass cannon, then picked another healthup without the heart curse and it got reset to 60 again ;_;
You just have to be point blank to use this trick then, iits only a matter of getting the mage to stand on the ground or having enough flight/leggy mutation to stay on him. I had slow projectiles Projectile repulsion and a shield perk and was still able to do this easy enough kicking him around.
i am gonna take advantage of this on my latest run with glass cannon. problem is that the glass cannon spanws in the first holy mountain of east 1. i am planning on getting loads of health first so that i can have as many of the debuff as possible. then i am gonna use black holes to drop the perk all the way down to east jungle. then i just need to find a heart mage.
Extra Health scales with max health so it's not as useful for this trick as a static health bonus. I was surprised perks like Stronger Hearts and Extra Life weren't mentioned though.

died in the temple to an exploding crystal because I had drill on my dps wand and it somehow dug precisely below the crystal that fell on my head and exploded btw

Do you have any hints on finding heart mages and hearts? I rarely find both of them, sometimes I find neither (and when I do find heart mage I'm generally not able to use the exploit even with the hm heart because I never have the tools for it...). Also, didn't know they heal from explosions, thanks for the hint, now I can keep using explosions in the rare case I find them without worrying about killing my best friend
does this trick work with the 50% HP perk as well...? I imagine that would get you some truly insane value on a single heart mage if you did it with even a couple hundred hp

The summon work trick is pretty rough. It’s usually easier to just go through parallel worlds and grab perks to stack your health faster than the worm farming wand can. As for the confusion. Just know that you can benefit from hearts right away. Your benefits are just limited by glass cannon is all. You don’t need to do anything special. Just do the usual trick and you will gain. I was just trying to help others understand what was taking place
some perk anti-synergies: - Projectile Repulsion Field: Will push the heart mage attack away - Revenge Bullets: Will cause you to fire a teleport bolt back at the mage, swapping spots instead of dragging him along. - Revenge Tentacle: If you tele-wand has any damage on it (like a chainsaw for speed) your tentacle will slap the mage to death
It's weird they call this a Roguelike since there are a bunch of arguably game-breaking exploits that just turn it into a "get knowledge > instawin" game. Like infinite money being another.
I might be wrong, but i think roguelike just means deaths are permanent and you fully restart after each death. 'Roguelike' is not an indication of the amount of exploits in a game, difficulty of the game, or anything else
I like to always go for a long run from the get go and not worry about possibly dying early. I find teleports usually in holy mountain shops without much struggle. Ambrosia is a little trickier, but fungal caverns has a high chance of spawning some even if its a dangerous place early on. Fungal caverns might also have some teleport and add mana spells as a bonus. If fungal cavern seems too dangerous for you to enter and you would like to be just a little more prepared, remember that you can leave snowy depths and climb back up to the lava lake without much digging or any god angering. As for black hole, i prefer luminous drill as its far more common find, even if its agonisingly slow without a good wand and some add mana. Earthquake spells are also a perfectly valid choice for digging, if you feel like being a true sigma male that is. Anyway, every run i start preparing the steps for god run as soon as the run begins, mainly looking for a way to skip holy mountains without angering Steve (polymorphine, teleportatium and teleport spells).
If we're talking about a proper long run, then good perks with very limited rerolls is basically a must. If you can't break the reroll machines, it's not worth it to go for the late game achievements and secrets at least. Another important thing is means to get to the parallel worlds. Teleport, ambrosia and black hole aren't strictly necessary, though usually you need at least two of the three. Wand-wise I'd say that killing the dragon when you get there is a good benchmark. If you manage that, you'll almost certainly get a good enough wand from him to carry you a lot farther. In the Temple of the Art you can evaluate if you're confident enough to get back to the surface through the Tower or if you should just go try to kill the boss and end the run. Finally when you're back on the surface, go kill the Alchemist(?) for some Greek letters and you're pretty much set for whatever you want to do.
I'm on a god run with every immunity and im still too chicken to try this. Knowing my luck i'll die to some offscreen enemy that teleports me straight into the worlds most convenient lava pool...
I think I understood the mechanics here. If you want things to be easier to understand in the future make it more clear what you are talking about. In this video things would be much easier to understand if you differentiate between "current HP" and "max HP" by calling it that. I had to guess what you are referring to every time you said HP.
"They could've easily remove it" - not true, removing it requires changing file system entirely and adding a lot of new variables, they just went for lazy solution to call bug a feature.
If they were lazy they wouldn't have put the effort to change the way these buffs work (so that they don't affect health below 10 HP). Also how is it hard to fix? When player gets hit, game saves their max hp (X) before the hit. if the player has 1 instance of debuff -> set current max hp to 1/2 of that X, 2 debuffs -> 1/4 of X. Hp upgrades picked up during debuff increase X instead of current max hp
The solution is already there with the way glass cannon works, all they have to do is log the health prior to change, log any addition of hearts during the debuff duration, then apply the hearts after the debuff runs out.
I really apreciate the massive balls of the noita devs for always allowing the community to break their game as the games breaks us

Got to 13k health, then polymorphed to lamma and one shot.
I also should mention that I shifted lava to fucking healthium in that run.. I felt like you for a glimpse, then quickly felt like me again.

Now... imagine this approach in NG+ worlds when their rate of fire becomes faster. That would mean even more stacks before they begin to expire.
Someone said if you restart the game, the timer gets reset to its max duration. Meaning you can already get infinite stacks

Double the health gain. So if you did the trick and should have got 800 HP then you will get 1600 HP
