The Park Lake Linear

  • This month I go in search of a stunning Linear carp which lives in a tiny park lake. It's not just any linear carp either; this one is related to the legendary Leney strain! The film follows my fishing over the autumn, when I visit the venue for a few hours here and there, armed with just a bucket of bait and a few bits. It shows playing action, tactical talk, and finishes with the capture of the prize resident!

Some of the top carp lakes in the 80s only held a small number of twenties and you have to give these fish the respect for what they have achieved even today without constant anglers bait as a regular food source.... Well done Simon for keeping it real...... Beautiful linear.....

what a pleasure to see a pro angler get his kicks on a tiny puddle like that, just goes to show that u dont have to fish a big water to bag a magnificent carp, ive got a very small water near me that i go at with my carp rods for a couple hours of an evening and get funny looks from the pole brigade, , but they dont look at me funny wen i put a large carp in the net, fair play mr crow ....

My opinion is you are head and shoulders above the rest of your profession with the material you produce. The fish you catch, the way you offer advice and tips to help others potentially have the same success, and a respectful bankside etiquette puts you in a league of your own right now.all the best👍

Love this video. Your comments are so true. One of most rewarding captures was an immaculate 31 1/2 canal common carp caught from the canal within 5 minutes walk of my home. Sadly all carp have perished in there now due to the introduction of Otters.
No one would believe such fish could exist in such a tiny but rich disused urban canal. It was made more special because I also rescued the same fish from a pollution hit stretch some 2 years before and had no idea that it actually survived.
It will probably remain my most memorable catch. A 30 plus urban canal common, so rare and even more unlikely to be repeated now the Otters are ravaging unfenced waterways.
A truly inspiring video: its not always the well stocked circuit waters which give you the biggest buzz.
    Thanks for sharing!

Awesome mate. Just another textbook hunt for a target fish.
This is exactly the type of water in wich it all began for me roughly 20 years ago. The park lakes in our area all had some carp. Even some very special ones like this stunning linear you just caught.
One time i was on a mission for a 20+koi. Only 3 or 4 known carp, one of them the koi. Got my bait in the very early morning but what landet on my unhooking mat was even 10 pound bigger then the koi. A mid 30 pitch black common carp. A monster for the time. Remember this was 20 years ago.

You know what? Since I've moved to London from Essex, my carp fishing is practically down to nothing now, but by far the next best thing to going carp fishing, is watching videos of the quality of these ones. Terry Hearn and Simon Crow, Steve Briggs, Sticky baits etc. etc. are all great things to watch when you can't get out on the bank. (Gutted about that as I love fishing this time of year usually.)....anyway, cheers Simon for these great vids

Awesome and well earned fish. Too often these days you just get the trophy shot, and not the story of how much effort that's been put into catch it. And it's all the blood of, sweat, and tears that turns a trophy into a proper character, which is as it should be.

I was told there was a few nice fish including a 20+ fully scaled. Allways more believable when you actually see the fish. Beautiful linear and my new winter spot as I only live 5mins up the road and fish a few of the other local small pools on that permit. Great video proving short session fishing can be really rewarding.
