very helpful video, as a very noob drone pilot I need to know everything about it before even trying to fly this thing as great as it can be, so again thank you for sharing your wisdom.
That’s awesome to hear!! When I first started I had one week to learn before I needed to fly for a job haha, it was hectic but it was videos like this that helped so much! All the best on learning and flying!
Hey, how is it possible that I don’t have the photo settings in the pro mode? Camera only and I cannot change the image format neither to change to raw :(
The first thing I would check is firmware on the drone and firmware on the controller. Sometimes running older and mismatched firmware can cause issues. If you click on “Auto” in the bottom right, that should put it in pro mode with all of the settings.
You are going to love it! It’s a great combination of being small and compact while also being able to get incredible footage and very long flight times.
I think both have their place, I typically shoot 24fps because it conveys the speed and movement of the drone better. When you shoot slow motion footage, like 60fps slowed down to 24, it has a cool slow motion look, but you loose a lot of movement.
@@JasonPischke good feedback. I’m only just getting into drones now and the mini 4 is my first purchase. Looking forward to learning how to fly and learning how to get some good captures. Thanks again. And great video
I love your tutorials....but as a beginner, I have no idea how you got to the photo/video screen from the previous set up screen. So I finally find that, but then you skip from the photo stuff to another screen I can't get to.....I just need transition advice from screen to screen....how did you get there?
Sorry about the confusion, the main settings window that I cover in the first part of the video is found by selecting the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The way I am switching between photo mode, video mode and all of the other camera modes is by selecting the icon just above the record button on the right hand side. The way you can change the camera settings in each of these modes is by pressing on the settings in the bottom right hand portion of the screen. This should pull up the settings menu and you can adjust everything from there! Hopefully this helps to clear up some of that confusion 😊
Any particular reason why you are staying on the 2019 release of Premiere? That would be my best guess. Most modern DJI drones shoot in a H.265 codec with a .mp4 wrapper and so I could see 2019 software not having the ability to decode/playback the newer H.265 format.
@@JasonPischke After further research it appears that the new codec on the drone is H.265 as you stated. I really don't want to spend $285 for Premier Pro. I believe there is some freeware stuff out there that will get the job done. 👍
Quick note, setting the optimal function, the drone doesn't rise to your specified height etc, it makes its own mind as to the best and shortest way home. Pre-set is the function you were mentioning.
That is amazing to hear!! The drone was powered on, it was just sitting on a shelf. Some of the modes like the panorama photo modes do require the drone to be in the air, I would recommend just bringing the drone up to a low hover and setting those up.
I put my video settings in pro and then go into auto press on the white balance auto and back off. In auto, I get my colour profile and then hold on the screen to lock it in. Can't seem to lock it in on pro.
I typically set up white balance and color profile in the main camera menu and leave it at 5600k unless I am flying indoors. On a normal flight I only adjust shutter and ISO, if you prefer to use auto, the Mini 4 Pro’s auto is pretty smooth, but still would say set the white balance to 5600 and make any small corrections in post.
Well that did not work to well for me,after switching to pro mode and going out, the screen showed a very overexposed white. So I had to switch back to auto.
Not a problem, there are a few simple solutions for that. The first and simplest would be to roll in a bunch of shutter until the image is properly exposed. You can also set the shutter to auto if you would prefer the camera to set it automatically. The second option is to use ND filters to limit the amount of light hitting the sensor, this is great if you want to still have a low shutter speed, but keep the image properly exposed. In your case I would set the shutter to auto, set the iso to 100 and you should be all set to go!
Although I have the Air 3, many things are the same on the Mini 4 Pro. I personally set my obstacle avoidance to Brake as opposed to Bypass. I think Brake is far more safe and I’d rather lose the shot than lose the drone.
I went back and forth for months between the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro, I am super happy with the Mini 4 Pro but do run into the occasion situation where having a telephoto would be nice. Brake is probably the safer solution out of the two, I have yet to really test the limits of obstacle avoidance and really hope I don’t ever need to haha
@@JasonPischke If one can afford it I highly recommend the Air 3. I still have my first drone my Mini 2. But the three reasons I opted for the Air 3 were the tele camera as you stated, better wind resistance then the Mini and larger and longer lasting batteries.
@@ronaldwilson9525 All valid reasons! I am glad you have been enjoying the Air 3, I still fly a lot with the Air 2S and enjoy the larger form factor for stability like you said. Coming from the Mavic Pro as my personal drone, pretty much anything was going to be an upgrade haha
Hi Jason from North Wales , thats a really helpful video friend , thank you for making it . Total beginner here and I shot one video ( which Is my last upload ) its only in 420 though mm and I dont know how to get the footage in 4K full. Also can I ask you the best way you know to get footage from the drone to a Windows 7 computer ?? Any info would be appreciated God bless you David in Wales 🙂 🙏
I checked out your video, no shortage of great scenery in Wales!! What a beautiful part of the world. The footage being 480p is strange to me since the drone can only shoot in 4k and 1080p. Are you possibly using the low proxy files from the controller? I would recommend connecting a USB C cable directly from the back of the drone to your computer to transfer footage. This will ensure you get the highest quality footage of you are using the drones internal storage. Let me know if that helps!! Thanks for watching!
@@JasonPischke Thanks for watching and seeing my issues here , It would have been way better in 1080 for sure , I mean that's ok for me 🙂 Interesting little conundrum ,I transferred using the automatic transfer thingy , but hey that is what I'll do is take your advice here , and hopefully, Lord willing it will do a way better job ! I will be sure to let you know if that works , and when I have the time , I'll get to it thank you so much for your kindness , I really appreciate it ,and now you hhave another sub for bieng helpful , cool and kind :) David
The only way for me is to transfer with the DJI Fly app open also and the drone switched on ,it then dowloads onto my Iphone pro max 14 , but this might be a preview , and thats might be what uploaded on the video you saw. I got one up before on a mini 3 , i awapped that for mini 4 and that drone uploaded the same way in 1080 only. I tried connecting the drone with usb to the drone, lol and its frustrating not to be able to even open the drive that the drone becomes. so yea dunno whats next , ive got a windows 10 laptop aging like me lol but that is only choice I think I have left ...sadly
@@Pure-Crystal-Fire You might want to try using the Micro SD card slot instead of the internal record. MicroSD cards are so affordable and that way transferring footage between drone and computer is much more streamlined. I personally only use the internal storage in the rare occasion I don’t have a card on me, so maybe give that a try and let me know how it works!
No way!! Very cool, I have never been to the Philippines but would love to visit someday. I have heard the humidity can be pretty tough on gear out there.

Can you guide me on how to change the aperture from f1.7 to other settings like f4.5 or 5.6?
The pro 4 is set to 1.7
Unfortunately the Mini 4 Pro does not have an adjustable aperture, only the more expensive Mavic Pro line of drone’s have that feature.
What’s your reason for filming in 24fps? I thought 60 is better for being able to slow down in editing?
