@@OmegaCoolsterDX also a mod I play with makes it so frag nades explode on impact. Just the grenade change makes commando not only good but also feels super dynamic, makes him my favourite survivor.

All I think he needs is for 1000% damage on his grenade and 500% damage on his initial secondary along with +50% damage per pierce on it. I think this along would make him above average. Arguably they could make suppressive fire 120% damage per shot but that probably isn't even necessary.
I would actually put Brilliant Behemoth over brainstalks in the "best items" overview because Commando is the one survivor that benefits the least out of cooldown reduction, captain being the second one, it is used much more often due to Commandos attack speed, it also helps him with his lack of aoe at a minor scale.
R spam, either the bullets or grenades is amazing, and M2 shotgun spam is also amazing. Commando with purity isn't that great because he has high cd's and he still wants to proc chain, but brainstalks is best of both worlds and is amazing. Don't forget no cd on your slide will get you out of any situation.
Honestly really surprised to see the views stats. As a content consumer I usually wonder why people always ask/beg people to sub and it is usually kinda cringe, especially as someone who subs to people whose content I like unless they really piss me off for whatever reason, so from the perspective that a lot of people do the same it seems superfluous to ask for people to sub as why wouldnt you sub/be subbed if you like someone's content, right? Seeing your views are less than 5% from subs is truly amazing to me o.O Really adds some perspective on why youtubers always ask to sub, so not only thanks for the vid on how to make commando less shit (helps talking buddies into the game hehe) but also a fresh perspective on youtube view/sub issues!
Is it not good that most of your views aren't from subs? I get there's the issue of them not being notified, but I always thought of it as "Hey, my channel is growing since all these newcomers are finding my content". It may not be that way, but I don't trust TH-camrs when they whine about this.
Tactical Dive also allows you to get a bit more vertical distance, similar to how Huntress is able to aim upwards with her basic utility. It makes it much easier to scale cliffs and whatnot, but still I prefer the slide for moving around quickly in the early game.
I feel like Commando's M1 should get a no spread buff, that would help him get whisps more quickly, and it's just annoying to miss all your shots against small enemies. Also just an overall buff to his damage. That wouldn't make him too OP because every other survivor in this game is better than him LOL
You bringing up Commando being one of the worst survivors reminded me of my subconscious desire to play bad characters in games just to get good with them to flex that I hate myself a little too much :)
I just started the game,.I've already unlocked a few characters (huntress, engineer, the robot that I forgot the name of, the guy with the fists, and captain) and commando is still my favorite by far. The mobility is great, the supressive fire is even better, and phase round is just cheating. Thanks for this guide lol
To be honest, with the addition of the void DLC items and the scrapper, Commando looks pretty good right now because the main thing he lacked to thrive in Eclipse is build control. Now, he can get very consistent because he can make a lot of different builds work due to his scaleability with pretty much most items. You just have to be oppertunistic with the build, and make his kit work with it.
I feel like tactical dive vs slide is personal preference. Dive's ability to apply significant velocity shift while in the air was not mentioned, and is important. Otherwise, I think this is a really solid overview. Mando is the second best bleed survivor after captain, and can be better than captain with a plethora of backup mags. Look for ATGs or royal capacitor for proc'ing bands - grenades are a trap as they are really inconsistent against Mythrix
only thing i would disagree with would be taking supresive fire over nades. in the late game, when supresive fire normaly starts to shine commando's m1 will be tearing things up almost instantly with proc chains and i find i hardly use his special, but since he starts out as a wet tissue, having the nades makes getting through the first loop way easier and i hardly miss the supresive fire by the time the nades drop off.
Phase Round has been buffed since this video and increases damage with each target penetrated by it. The second taget hit with it will activate bands and my runs are much more consistent with it than with phase blast.
But in order to have better Commando runs, I need to last 20 stages and get to a difficulty point where an overloading worm will spawn. Gee, it'd sure be nice to have some helpful skills to get me through all those loops.
Welp, I always full greed on munsoon and I'm always doing good enough. It's personally my best character, and I don't get how much hate it gets. It's a jack of all traits that gets patched up easily by a lot of items. Play to your strenght and the strenght of your items.

Had a really funny run last light where I somehow managed to get the Spinel tonic + 4 fuel cells + a whole bunch of solidier stringe, tri tonics, will o wisp, etc. By the time we got to the loop I’m pretty sure I was doing more damage then anyone lol. When I finally died I had almost 2 million damage, and I had managed to acquire 16 stacks of the negative potion effect from the tomic. It’s hilarious but the debuffs stack, you become USELESS if you aren’t buffed. Having the extra fuel cells is mandatory. The evil thing is you can’t switch items, the debuff stays if you try LOL. I think the only way to make this even better would be an item that reduces equipment cooldown. Anyway... really funny run, I wish I recorded it.
After reviewing your tier list, I'm really curious how you handle reviewing Acrid. From looking at my damage graphs on diluvian, Acrid has my 2nd best DPS numbers behind Loader after the teleporter has been activated. Curious if you will be using an M1+Utility rotation along with the poison
His damage fall off is way too oppresive. He already suffers from horrible weapon accuracy. An extra 10m before it starts falling off would do him wonders.
Honestly I'm trying my best to become better with Commando, but whenever I do a run with him I never get any soldier syringe's. Or I get one on Stage 1 and then one other chest in the whole map. Bad RNG.
What about the behemoth? It makes all of your attacks explode, which is good for AoE and doesn't it also increase the single target damage you can deal cause the explosions can hit the enemies you shoot directly? At least I'm pretty sure it can

Real quick, I love your vids. But you can't just get it wrong from the get go. Out of the gate, he does not have a 2.0 proc coefficient. He shoots 2 bullets subsequently, each with a 1.0 proc coefficient. But not at the same time. All this means is that you physically cannot shoot just one bullet. Clicking mouse 1 will fire twice, one after another. If every bullet he shot did 2x damage and had 2.0 to proc, he would actually be a good survivor. He does shoot kinda fast, and each bullet has good proccing, but he does not shoot two bullets at once. It's easier to think that he just shoots and each bullet has 1.0 proc, because the way you phrased it made it sound twice as good as it is. Also, using a secondary skill doesn't reset your accuracy that much on use. In fact, at higher attack speed, the reset is hardly noticeable. It's the act of not actively using M1 that lowers the accuracy by so much when you use an M2 ability. Source: Game files, test runs, also I main commando, and I have to know everything about him to keep up with my friends who are simply playing better characters in order to stay on par with them.
@@rndThursday i'll have to test it more, but i'm pretty sure hits without proc coiff can proc bleed through shatterspleen, since it's based on the crit itself and crit is not affected by proc coiff. which is why i find shatterspleen abuse most effective on multi and captain
Honestly, I'll admit I really dislike Commando. After finding all the characters and playing them a solid amount (Each character had 20 runs, both long and short) and getting nearly all the abilities, I just didn't enjoy Commando much. I wish they made Commando a lot better of a High single target dps character with his other options being crowd damage (Which thankfully is true) I don't use Phase Round or Suppressive Fire anymore just because they don't feel like good dps, I'd much rather just hold left click and slide when need be. Suppressive only is Impressive when I need to stun something that's affected by it, other than that, I'd rather have the grenades for times when I need AoE

I forgot to mention I also think his grenade rolls too much, if it was slightly more static it would be much more usable.

brainstalks just allows you to spam that r and get those procs which is the main reason i added it

I personally take the dive over the slide because it allows you to roll backwards, which can be extremely useful for quickly getting away from threats

I’m not really sure what could be done to make him better... maybe more AOE in his kit?
isn't shatterspleen based on crit (which is unaffected by proc coiff) and therefor not an "on hit" item
