    L'Italie rayonne. Jannik Sinner n'est pas le seul Transalpin a brillé Porte d'Auteuil. Jasmine Paolini a créé la surprise en s'imposant 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 contre Elena Rybakina ce mercredi, en quarts de Roland-Garros. Personne n'attendait une saison aussi forte de la part de la joueuse de 28 ans. Avec cet exploit, l'Italienne a l'assurance d'intégrer le Top 10 lundi et jouera surtout sa toute première demi-finale en Grand Chelem. Remarquable après avoir joué son premier huitième en Majeur seulement en janvier dernier à Melbourne. Surtout, la tornade italienne n'avait jamais dépassé le deuxième tour de Roland-Garros avant cette édition. La progression est tardive mais fulgurante ! Elle tentera de prolonger le rêve jeudi contre Mirra Andreeva pour une place en finale.

    Is it just me, or the coolest, more humble and talented people in general are tennis players, today? Really, tennis is offering me respite from the bad things in the world, and I don't think I'm the only one. Congrats Jasmine, you are totally killing it! So inspiring to watch you play!

      I think there is something good happening in Italian tennis. Look at their output these days - all these amazing players, as sportspeople and as human beings in general. Italians have figured out how to find the right people, and they are training them right.

      I'm with you. The players who generally do best, making the top 10 or so, must have a real pragmatic, grounded sense about themselves, cuz tennis (outside of doubles, which is still just 2), it's just you and players can't put losses/poor play on teammates. It's one on one, and maybe the best one that day win. Makes for a real humble quality to a degree, which doesn't mean you aren't also very confident and aggressive on court.

      This new generation is special. I’m not sure if it’s the Gen Z effect, but I felt like tennis was missing some humility with the last generation of Medvedev, Zverev, Tsitsipas, Kygrios, etc. Now we have Carlos, Jannik, Holger, Jasmine, Elena, Mira, etc. and it’s so great to see how lovely they all are.
      In general I think tennis players are the most humble out of all professional athletes.

      Why? Being a short person myself, I think her formulated it very respectfully ("with all due respect", "is it your secret superpower"?) and it is interesting topic to elaborate on. the lower center of gravity, quicker feet... there are disadvantages, but also advantages to being a short player, especially on clay.

      @@francescadelogu5969 @alexlackner1945 Exactly... and also he said "is it your secret superpower" knowing that this is impossible (as Jasmine confirmed), just in order to feel entitled to also say the total opposite, that is "do you feel intimidated by them?"... a sort of "sandwich approach", where he says something sort of good just because it will counterbalance something very bad that he really wanted to say. There is something very wrong with that question.
