    I agree with the previous commenter. This is the problem these manufacturers are going to have to iron out if they ever want to sell a large amount of these electric vehicles to the masses. Bumping up against 75K for a mid-level trim with a few goodies is ridiculous. I get it, it’s an expensive manufacturing process. But again, they are going to have to figure that out if they ever want to have successful mass sell numbers to the general public.

    Great truck, great review. You hit a lot of points anyone interested in buying one should know.
    I think you glossed over a big question, how does it do towing/hauling at highway speeds. If (hopefully when) you get a 2nd chance with the truck going on a harder off road test please consider doing a towing efficiency test as well. Some people are going to hear 300 mile range and assume it will do close to that when towing, I'd be surprised if it even got half that range under a load. And to go with that is the infrastructure for fast charging.
    And again, I'm not criticizing the review, I enjoyed it and thought it was well done. Just a request in case you get another shot with the truck in the future.

      If you tow a long way, you're unfortunately pretty much stuck with a gas or diesel truck if stopping every 100 miles is a problem. Personally, owning an internal combustion vehicle is something I'll never do again, so I would put up with stopping every 1.5 hours instead of dealing with a gas/diesel vehicle ever again.

    My biggest gripe is the pricing. The base Pro model is the cheapest 4x4 crew cab full size truck you can buy, even cheaper than an XL with the 3.3L V6. Fleet customers can get a Pro extended range for $47k, but thas not available to the public. The XLT starts around $53k, but adding the bag battery adds $20k. Why not make the jump more like the fleet Pro and make the long range XLT $60k? The long range XLT is $72k, which is where a Lariat starts and if you want a long range Lariat it's only about a $5k option. $72k XLT vs $77k Lariat, why buy the XLT?

    • @tomcez

      If only we could pick the options we find instead of Ford packaging them for us. Reviewers have seen very little reason to go beyond the Pro version to get plenty of capability. And the $7500 rebate really makes for a great deal. Batteries are just too costly and heavy so far to allow heavy use. Need to have a charging infrastructure build into the interstates so battery sizes can be reduced. Or a Mr. Fusion in the frunk.

    People that purchase any electric vehicle expecting to always achieve the rated range are living in a dream world. These rated ranges are during perfect conditions of which the average person will never see in the real world. It is very possible to achieve 300 mile range with the Ford lightning platinum if it's fully charged and driven until completely empty. And although the lightning extended battery can be charged from 15% to 80% in about 41 minutes on a DC fast charger. If empty & charged to 100% it could take more like 2 hours. Having to stop for 2 hours every 300 miles can be very annoying to say the least. You will have to achieve a minimum 2.3 miles/kWh at all times else you'll get less than 300 miles. How often do you drive until your fuel tank is empty? I'd say not very often and certainly not on purpose. Who wants to be stranded, and with fewer charging stations compared to fuel stations it's more probable to happen with EV's.

    How many of those miles need to be driven in the city to achieve the 320 mile range.

    The 2 things I don’t like about the Lightening are;
    1), it’s an EV
    2), the price
    I have some friends who live in Ft Worth, TX.
    Last year during their 2 week brown out, they couldn’t charge their EV from their home. They didn’t have enough juice to get to a recharge station, so they struggled to get to work or the store.
    As a nation, our electric grid isn’t set up for the demands of everyone using EVs.
    I suppose we will just keep driving our gas powered vehicles.
    I’m looking forward to your next review.
    Have a great day!

    • @Doc1855
      @Doc1855 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adofoi30 I agree, but a brown out can happen anywhere at anytime.
      Diesel fuel is often used to run gasoline pumps should the power goes out.
      If diesel is available then that is what is used to produce electricity to recharge the EV recharging pumps.
      Also with the amount of greenhouse gases that are produced when producing lithium batteries to run an EV, is equivalent to driving a gasoline powered vehicle for 90K miles.
      Most EV batteries have to be replaced around 100-150K miles, so what overall good is it for the environment?
      Furthermore there are no safe places to discard a lithium battery.
      The more people who buy EVs everyone’s electric bills will increase.
      It’s all about supply and demand.
      I’m not against an EV and would consider buying a Subaru Soltera but not to “save the planet”.
      The Bible prophecies predicted “Global Warming” over 2K years ago, so there’s nothing we can do to stop what was predicted 2K years ago.

    Btw, the dual motor setup is standard on all trims. Also, range reduction when towing is not an EV-specific issue.
