    Professionally done Sir. Saying Haemoglobin repetitively can be awkward 😁.
    In fact it's easier to repeat tetrahydrobiopterin than Haemoglobin. 👏

    I think of hemoglobin like a postman, when there are less postmen, less oxygen (post) gets delivered. Lots of things might affect the number of postmen.

    In a previous video it was mentioned that the oxygen content has to do with the saturtaion of haemoglobin and the partial pressure of oxygen , so why does the oxygen content in cases of anemia decreases if both of saturation and the partial pressure of oxygen are not affected ? Could you please make it clear I am a bit confused 😅

    • @MedicosisPerfectionalis
      @MedicosisPerfectionalis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      That's a great question...Let me simplify it for you, what I will say here is not 100% accurate, but it will make it easier...Think of Oxygen content as O2 content= Hb concentration + Oxygen% Saturation+ Partial pressure of O2...In anemia, both the 2nd& 3rd parts are normal (Oxygen% Saturation & Partial pressure of O2). However, Hb concentration is low in anemia, so the total "O2 content" will be low because Hb concentration is low in anemia. I hope it helps! Let me know if you need help!

    • @guravjitkaur3918
      @guravjitkaur3918 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The small amount of functioning Hb in the blood may be well saturated with oxygen, so patient may have normal SpO2 reading , but patient may not have enough oxygen going to tissues due to decreased Hb conc.

    The first definition is wrong which is decreased O2 capacity of the blood. This can be due problems of the RBC’s count or their Hgb content(anemia) or due to CO poisining or methemoglobin which by definition is not anemia

    • @MedicosisPerfectionalis
      @MedicosisPerfectionalis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Great! You’re correct! The second definition is the best, but anemia is the most common cause of decreased oxygen carrying capacity of the blood...I didn’t say Anemia is the only cause of it...It’s a generalization, and without generalization, there is no wisdom! 😊
      Don’t get me wrong, You are absolutely right, and thanks for correcting me. Best of luck!

    why saturation of oxygen does not decrease in case of anaemia though there is decrease in case of haemoglobin concentration? I mean if there is decrease in the haemoglobins which carry oxygen then there should be decrease in saturated oxygen levels... the video was really helpful though....

    • @nafisatasnim1667
      @nafisatasnim1667 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well as far as I understood, in anemia oxygen level decrease but oxygen saturation is normal. Because saturated means the current amount of hb is full of it’s capacity to carry Oxygen, so even with a low hb level & low oxygen level blood can be saturated only if the current number of hb gets all the oxygen it can carry from the lungs. But as the hb is below normal the amount of total oxygen will be low.

    Macrocytic anemia have large rbc but still anemia because total rbc mass decreased. Can you give more explanation?
    Is it that the same amount of hemoglobin are present? Or is it because the macrocytic rbc are less in the blood?

    Hello, I have a question. My sister has iron-deficiency anemia. She also has vitamin D deficiency. The doctor prescribed Devit (50,000) and Ferum Lek for anemia. She received the first dose of Devit yesterday. And in a few hours, Ferum Lek was administered. Within an hour he had a fever. And today his right leg stopped. It is difficult to move. I wonder if this is the fault of Ferumlek? Because they tell him that this needle is very bad. He did one dose and how many days does it take for this medicine to leave the body? Please answer me. I am very worried.
