I remember back in the day I had lots of clothes . Now that I am retired. I have minimal clothing and wear everything I have and enjoy them more and helps my budget. It’s so liberating to clear out and let it go. Way to go !!!!! ❤️

Thanks, Angela. This was totally inspiring. I finally got off of my butt, and decided that I'm never going to fit into size 2 skinny jeans again. I've gained 5lbs in the last year or so (yes, it makes a difference when you are only 5'). Body weight also shifts with age. Still eating the same way, and working out. Won't budge, so they are now bagged up for donations. It was liberating.
And other items of clothing that I swore I'd wear again, but never do, gone as well.
      Thanks for the inspiration! ❤❤

I often wonder what influencers do with all the clothes they have?! I love closet cleanouts, in fact I may love them too much, I'm kinda obsessed! In order to prevent excess, I've created a few clothing rules and it has helped tremendously! I also count my clothing to prevent excess, if I'm going to buy something, I donate or sell another in exchange, and I only buy pieces I will currently wear, that fit my body now, that I actually need. That's just a few.

Two tips: 1) hang EVERYTHING inside out to avoid "hanger bumps" and 2) turn all hangers "backwards" (the open part of the top facing out) and when you wear a garment and rehang, turn the hanger frontwards. After a year any hangers that are still facing backwards - you have not worn that garment, so pitch it.

Angela, I just purged about 15 scarves. Gone are the infinity scarves (not in fashion anymore they say), thick, bulky scarves, and loud colors. I’m sticking with neutrals and softer colors from now on. Here are my tips for keeping an organized closet and not overspending on clothes: #1: When I buy a new item, I donate a item. Yes, the donated item is usually something I still like and can still get into, but, if I haven’t worn it in a year, I’ll probably never wear it. #2: I don’t buy something unless I need it. For example, I only buy clothes when they wear out or I can’t fit in them. #3: Make it a routine to purge clothing and organize. Like scheduling a dentist appointment, pick a time of the year to go through your’s (or hubby’s) clothes. I do it when I rotate my spring/summer with my fall/winter wardrobe. I literally move the clothes to another spare closet and this gives me an opportunity to view, sort, and go through clothes to donate. This goes for everything: clothes, shoes, and undies. Thanks for sharing your tips and more ways to have a minimalist wardrobe. 😊

I did a big closet clean out after losing weight, and it felt so good! I did buy some pretty hangers, and am mixing up the colors to designate the difference between casual and dressy pieces. It makes my closet look for organized. My husband & I share a decent sized closet, but not enough room for everything so my clothes are a bit smushed. But there are about half the amount of clothes there used to be, and I love it!
I have a suggestion: maybe fold your grandpa's sweatshirt & the outfit your grandma made, and add them to the drawer with your dad's tshirts? This way all the memory pieces are together. I'd be nervous about getting shoulder marks from years on the hangers.

You are so inspiring! After watching this I can't wait to begin tackling my closet. I have one idea for the shoe area in your closet. I would recommend storing one belt in each of the cubbies. I go through my closets about 3x a year. I started out with a Spring/summer closet and a Fall/Winter closet. Bought too many clothes from watching too many influencers like you! Hahaha. Now I bag them in space bags and swap out my closets to our storage unit where we keep our summer gazebo/patio cushions, etc. I don’t buy as much as I used to and I do donate a lot. Last year I had 2 weddings to attend, so I Lost 20 pounds, (2sizes) sadly I gained it back over the too long, sickly winter (I was unable to exercise) so I am here to warn people… DO NOT get rid of your 1 to 2 size up clothes! Esp jeans! Most likely you will gain it back and will be so happy you kept your faves from those sizes. (I refuse to buy new fat clothes! ) Keep the classics too some things never go out of style and always come back in!! Nice closet! Nice job!

This was sooooo freakin awesome and inspirational -- I related so much to the beginning on what the closet realistically looked like. You should add a scented candle and maybe a center tall table for jewelry, and some zen lighting and art to make it really feminine - will be great place to hang out and put outfits together! Also roll your scarfs into those little squares and put belts on the freed up hooks -

I wish I had a closet that big.😂 . I too was a cake decorator, retired. I have a tip for you. When stacking your shorts etc. alternate the shorts - waist band at the top, waist band at the bottom, waistband at top, waistband at the bottom etc. . Stacking folded tees, fold the sleeve to the front, next one fold the sleeve back, etc. these two different ways keep the stack flattened and not wonky. Your daughter is so beautiful.

One small suggestion. Switch out the hanger colors. Use all turquoise hangers for skirts and dresses, black hangers for pants, white hangers for tops, turquoise hangers for jean jackets, etc.

Last suggestion. Put the two fabulous Dad t-shirts out and put your empty hangers in the bottom drawer.

I can only do a small section at a time, like once every 2 weeks. I keep a trash bag in the back of my closet and put items in it when the mood strikes as well. Like you put on an item you think you will wear for the day and realize that it is too out of date or doesn't fit. Out it goes! I use boxes & organize by groups like shoes & purses together , belts & scarves , etc. & if a blouse has a matching or coordinating sweater , put them together . Very little effort yet it helps the charity a lot ; so many have said that people bring in bags of " stuff " which is awful to sort thru !!

This was a great decluttering video. You may want to consider buying clip hangers to hang your shorts in that section where you have space. I do that with my shorts since I now have about 9 pairs. I recently reorganized my closet by color. It is almost like having a capsule wardrobe so that I can clearly decide what I want to put together. So for instance, I have all my navy, white, and other blue tones together that include shorts, pants, tees, and blouses in that section. Then I have all my creams and ivory tone wardrobe pieces in another section. I read a really good book titled "Goodbye, Things." It was recommended that we should not keep our "what if" items. You may want to think about taking those expensive jeans to a resale boutique. I take a lot of my clothes that I no longer find joy in and I consign them. I also donate a good many items as well. Your closet looks amazing. By the way, your daughter is lovely. Thanks for your decluttering tips.

I’m cleaning my house tomorrow. So the closet will have to be another day. I have shoes in there that I can’t see, or maybe find. I wish my closet was that big. I do have some shelves. I need to see what is up on top. My problem is I’m taking medication that’s making me gain weight. When I can get off of the medication I might get m lid body back. So I’m not getting rid of the sizes I used to wear. But I did move them out of my closet. I still need to go through and clean pit what I haven’t worn this summer. I usually save it for one of my granddaughters. But it doesn’t stay in my closet. So I’m happy about that. But I started sharing my closet with my husband. He only has the back wall. I think I’m going to try to talk him into getting some kind of closet system. We just have a long bar and a short bar. That’s it. The closet is t huge. But I think it could be laid out a lot better.

Thank you for doing such a great video! It was so enjoyable and satisfying to watch. Maybe you could use the shoe cubbies to hold your belts and scarfs instead of using a shelf? I wish I could get you a cold drink after watching that! Keep the videos coming! I look forward to them every day!

I just did a major clean out as well… I had two size 4 dresses that I know I don’t fit in nor ever will that I got rid of (among other things….) and now that I’m working from home, I don’t need office wear any longer…it’s a big deal to get rid of things that don’t make you feel good and not feel guilty about donating it…someone else can love it 😊

Similar project this afternoon... dragging out my off-season storage boxes to see what will still work for fall. I was wanting to buy end-of-summer clearance for next year, but decided to wait until next year since I've been between sizes. I have a short list to shop for fall.

Angela, yes my closet really needs to be cleaned out. I retired 3-1/2 years ago. So right there is a reason to clean out. Then, since I retired I have lost 96 lbs. Now that really throws a wrench into things. So basically I have nothing to wear that fits. I did buy a couple of pairs of new pants, because the old ones fell off. I think I need to make some changes. I still want to lose some more weight, so I am only buying a few things at a time, until I can get to where I want to be. I'll be there soon, I hope. ❤

Great job, Angela! I have been decluttering for about two years already. Can you believe it? How embarrassing! I have two walk in closets, and one is just for shoes! I have also decluttered my fashion jewelry. I was a mess and a hoarder. ( but, in all honesty, I was a school counselor and I felt I needed to look very professional. So, shopping for clothes was my hobby. )
The only question I have is, no black bra? Love your videos!

Hi Angela ……heres a tip I do so not to be overwhelmed . I organize by color, so all whites clothing together, all black , all grey , all blue , Then I do the same with all dresses color the same all skirts ….And have a trash bag ready to donate if it’s not working for me. You’re absolutely correct on going thru the 1-5 tips …… great video as always!

What a great and inspiring video! My mother is moving back to Ohio after 45 years in Florida (Let’s see how long she lasts through the winter😂). She gave me my fathers jean jacket. That will never go anywhere. I totally understand why you can not get rid of the items from your father and grandparents.

WOW! I don't have a closet or drawers anything like that size, so I need to be brutal and give away if I buy something. It's good to see how you were able to do that since fashion is such an important part of your life. Congrats, Angela!

Angela I'm like you with the hangers, it doesn't bother me much but my daughter has to have the same color hangers and a certain style hanger. Me I don't really care too much, as long as my clothes are hung up it's cool.

Great video Angie I have been cleaning out every few months for the past few months. I then give it to the woman shelter. If I don't wear it in two month then it goes. I have learned to only buy what I love now. I just gave them 15 pairs of jeans and thought this is crazy and so waist full. Some still had the tags on them. It made me see I might be spoiled a little, as my husband doesn't care what I buy but it's really ridiculous on my part. So I also only allow myself one or two pieces of clothing a week now. We have two homes so I did pack some items to just leave at our winter home in Florida.

Oh, thank you, thank you! I thought I was the I only person whose closet was a mess. We just moved 1 year ago and did not have a company come in and fix it. So, 1 year later it's a mess.
