    Fantastic video! Well done!! Like you, I have watched countless videos featuring EDC fixed blades, and like you, I feel many miss the mark of what EDC is about; at least for me! I look for quality, practicality and minimal size & weight. This has been one of the most informative videos I have come across, not to mention you have featured 8 of my current Top 20 sought after little fixers (and 3 of my Top 5!) You were very well versed and kept me engaged! I see you are somewhat new to the TH-cam scene, however your info & delivery are far beyond your tenure!! I look forward to some more videos!
    I didn’t mean for this to seem like a review of your reviews, but I thought credit was due on a job well done and you have firmed up a few of my upcoming purchase decisions!! Thank you and keep up the great work!
    Have a great day, fellow Brother of the Blades!!!

      Lorraine! Thanks for your sparkling review! I only hope to share my perspective and enjoy others’, as well. I’m glad it made a difference to you! I look forward to sharing more of my collection. And thank you so much for your encouragement! Equally obliged!
      And I’d be curious to know your top picks!

      Whoops!! I feel like I’ve misrepresented myself.... LMAO! I forget that I scour TH-cam on my wife’s account! My name is Matt, but I answer to Lori just the same!! 😂😂😂
      But anyway, this is my top 25 little fixed blade Hit List: (yes, I have them written down in a file... I’m a nerd! Lol)
      Bradford Guardian 3
      GiantMouse GMF-1
      Viper Berus 1
      LionSteel M2 ST
      Spyderco Enuff
      Battle Horse Knives Slug
      Southern Grind Jackal Pup
      Blackjack 155
      L.T. Wright Frontier Valley
      Civilware Packer
      TOPS 3 Pointer
      Esee Izula II
      Ferrum Forge Lackey
      Brisa Bobtail 80
      Boker Plus The Brook
      Victorinox Master Mic S
      KA-BAR Snody Boss
      Artisan Cutlery Sea Snake
      Kizer Azo Baby
      Boker Plus Nessmi Pro
      Off Grid Knives Hoglet
      Buck 113
      Manly Patriot
      Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter
      MKM Mikro 2
      They are very loosely in some kind of order, but it changes from time to time when I come across something new to me. But I love the 5 3/4” to 6 1/2” OA length, right around 3.5 oz (including sheath), and I love a tough steel and I LOVE a good leather sheath!!!

      Matt, great list. I see some on yours that I’ve wanted but don’t own yet! I actually have a Boker Plus Nessmi Pro I’d be willing to part with if it interests you ever. Never carried, still in the plastic with the desiccant, just missing the original box-if you wanted to scratch one off the list! I’m planning another video for a little known / little owned knife that will definitely pique your interest! Thanks again, Matt!

    I'm really glad I found this video. My idea of an edc fixed blade is pretty specific, and this brought me a few new options to look at. I actually just got the Neckmuk. Ideally I want a 4 finger grip, if the pinky is only partial that's okay, but still short enough overall to carry horizontally.

    Thanks for sharing your tools....
    I looked for a year and wound up with a drawer full of "close-but-not-a-winner" small EDC knives. I finally wound up with my top three:
    1) Tops Little Bro
    2) Tops Tracker Scout
    3) Bradford Guardian 3 (Although I do not like the leather sheath it comes with. In my opinion, this one has to have a kydex sheath if you want to be able to grab it with more than 2 fingers when you deploy it.)
    No, I am not a Tops fan-boy.... It just worked out where they made two of the knives that fit my requirements perfectly.
    If I was going to the woods, I would carry the Tracker Scout, but for urban EDC, the Little Bro is the winner.

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for your comment, Plane Fun! I get what you mean about TOPS. They’re not my favorite maker, 1095 isn’t my favorite steel, but I’ve similarly found myself with a number of Tops knives - I’ve carried the Ferret, the street scalpel 2, and the also MSK. They make great knives with a lot of variety. If they did something with some quality stainless steel, I’d be all over it!
      Haven’t tried the Bradford Guardian yet, but like you I felt the leather sheath was a turn-off. I’ll be glad when kydex is the industry favorite. I already have too many knives with leather sheaths that I’d carry more often were it not for the sheaths.

    I use the Enuff serrated knife for scuba diving and after about 140 dives, it is in pristine condition. I removed the clip and used tie wraps to attach the sheath to my backplate and wing waist harness. Great knife. 👍

      Greg, that’s awesome to hear. The one I’ve had for years, the steel looks next to new, although it’s spent almost no time in the ocean. I’m glad you were able to make it fit your rig, and for 140 dives! Cheers, and thanks for watching. I’m sure the enuff will continue to serve. Read recently it’s being discontinued, although I’m sure they’ll have another option. In the meantime, I’ve bought another used one (in pristine condition) just in case. Stay well and safe, happy diving, Greg

      Thanks for your comment, BC! I’ve heard others say the same, but I have a hard time leaving the safety of the carry to a magnet, and not the strongest one either. I like the sheath, but much prefer to stability and toughness of the kydex. The magnets are cool, though!

    regarding the ulticlip+fixed blade situation:
    i recently started carryibg my first fixed knife (crkt katana) and due to its size and having to conceal it i just added the ulticlip 3.3 to it and shoved it in my front right pocket. i kinda gave up carrying any other folders since (outside of SAK's). so there s one instance of using the clip ;)

      Thanks for your comment, Andy! I’m glad you have success using it. I find it works best on jeans or sturdy pants pockets; it’s not bad on a small fixed blade! the magnet strap on the MKM Mikro is meant as a retention strap, or a magnetic pocket clip.

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Terry! It is meant to function as you described, but I’ve found the magnet (inside the leather) to be too weak to keep the sheath in my pocket. It keeps the knife in the sheath, but in my experience, it has been easier just to put the whole package (knife in sheath) in my pocket. It’s a great little knife, but I much prefer the kydex sheath. Thanks for your comment!

    Retention is everything. Im all about the magnets on leather sheath. Thats all you about getting it in the way. I dont want any chance of that thing coming off. No matter how good you have retention on leather sheaths. It eventually goes to crap. And the magnet helps.

    I do hope you're putting the ulticlip on correctly wear your belt, shorts or other material you are attaching it to needs to be between the ulticlip and the hook and then you snap the top part down for pension. A lot of people make the mistake of simply lifting the class up and putting their material between the backside of the hook and the clasp. The whole premise is so you don't need to wear a belt and that hook will have enough pension behind it to keep it attached wherever you have it mounted. check out some iwb/aiwb holster videos, tons of people carry that much weight on one and have no issues so a knife should not give you any problems, hope that helps. I also really enjoyed the video, well done.

    I'm nuts for TOPS Knives, and I've always liked the look of the Farret, and even more so seeing it here. Just wish it had a full flat grind. How does it cut? More heavy duty or is it plenty EDC capable? It's definitely not one of their cheaper knives when you're talking material/size to dollar ratio. I always thought it should be more like 50-55 bucks. Also it's one of the few knives where I would like the option to attach a lanyard, but I guess that might take away from the beautiful clean look. So handsome. Great video! Mote like this please!!

      Jerry, I definitely appreciate the size and the firmness of it, but I’ve always just carried a knife in the sheath in my pocket. I’m not a fan of the loosey-goosey carry either. I’ve still got both of mine, I’ll have to give them another try.

Maybe it wasn't the same. I don't know but anyway they just really clipped down on your pants you could put it in your pocket, you can put it on your belt, whatever you did it would just firmly keep it on, and I don't know when everyone started doing the one-size-fits-all thing...

      There definitely seem to be at least two schools of thought: “one size fits all” vs. “sized to fit” - I’m a fan of sized to fit, even if that makes it unique to carry. But most of the time, it just goes in the pocket and I don’t need a clip or loops.

    Lol interesting you have a lot of the knives I own. I really like the spyderco salt. Though you kinda overhyped the h1 steel. I love h1 steel since it’s rustproof steal but sadly it’s one of the softest steels you can buy. If used on plain edge knives it will dull incredibly fast. However it performs very well at steep edges such as serrated edges.. but then again any steel will perform well with serrations. Worst part about the salt is the sheath, the belt clip becomes loose after about a minute of wearing idk what the problem is.

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment Ryan. I’ve tightened up the belt clips on both of those Enuff knives and they’ve done fine. Although, honestly, I prefer them with the clips off completely and will just carry in a pocket. Depends on the trip, I guess. H1 steel for me, is perfect. I don’t mind sharpening (or sending to Spyderco for sharpening) when they dull, and the fact that the steel won’t rust regardless of the environment is great for my use!

    • @Flockingtheherd
      @Flockingtheherd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edcdeeznutz yeah I have no clue why it happens to me, I have the enuff salt and drop point same as you. But if I belt carry either, they clip on my belt very snug but after a few minutes of walking I’ll hear jangling and realize the belt clip has come completely loose from the sheath and almost ready to fall off. No matter how tight I screw the clip on it always comes loose. But what’s really cool about the enuff knives is the full tangs are actually skeletonized. Under the scales there’s actually a nice open area where I store a mini basic survival kit such as a needle, some Kevlar thread, two fishing hooks and some fishing line. It’s a pretty cool hidden feature

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Didn’t know that about being able to stash inside the handles! That’s cool. I’m not a fan of belt carry mostly because I don’t always wear a belt…but that seems to be the industry standard knife carry anyway. I put clips back on for the video, and remember tightening them down, but I’ll see if I notice it loosening next time I get a chance to wear it. If anything, I’ll put a small loop of 1/4” 550 cord through the rivets in the sheath and let it hang on a carabiner. Deploys nicely that way, also.

      Thanks for your comment, PLB. I won’t make any videos addressing carry styles specifically, but I can tell you I almost always put my knife in the front pocket. In my personal experience, I find clips to be fussy; I’d much rather pocket carry or clip it to my bag, on the occasion I’m using one. Lots of folks swear by the ulti clip for pocket carry, or the tek-lok for belt carry in a variety of positions. Will post another edc fixed blade video soon, and plan to address sheath design. Pretty sure the Mikro is pronounced "micro," like micro-penis. I have the Makro (macro). I assumed I was going to want to buy the Kydex immediately, but the leather sheath on that one works great. I can put it anywhere: belt, waits band, pocket. In the winter I used to put the small fixed blade up my sleeve. It has nothing to do with easy access for self-defense (i use a knife a tool, not a weapon, nor does anyone else who jawing on about using a knife as self defense), it's just easier to get to when I have a winter parka and all the other layers on.
    I used to put paracord on the sheath with the ends coming out where the tip of the blade is, stuff it in my sleeve with the ends coming out the cuff. When I needed it I would just pull the cord and it would pull it half way out so I grab the handle to draw it. With the Makro's sheath I just put it in my sleeve and put the belt loop outside the cuff, and it holds it in place.

      Thanks for sharing, Tim! I definitely like the kydex, but I usually pocket carry. I get what you mean about self-defense talk. It’s all hypothetical until it isn’t! Stay well, Tim!

      @@edcdeeznutz and it rarely isn't.
      I will admit that I managed to erase my key card to getting into my building and parking garage the first day I took the knife with me. I had to do the Fred Flintstone pounding on a door for 20 minutes at 10:30 PM before someone let me in. I always keep it on my left side now, my wallet and phone on my right.

      How does the Makro fit into the pocket? I'm considering getting the sheepsfoot Makro 2 but wondering how the 6.5" length will do in a pocket (have always carried small folders).

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nyrangers731 I don’t have direct experience with the makro, but carry several fixies larger than 6” and always in the pocket- no problems there. Although you may prefer kydex to the leather sheath, depending on your preference. I know the kydex makes it easier to get in and out with less fuss.

    How do you guys get these Knives

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Rafael, I have spent years buying and using knives, so I’ve amassed a collection which I occasionally sell from and trade. Most of what I share here I find online, but Instagram and trusted retail sites like knifecenter or whitemountainknives among dozens of others are great places to look for knives that suit your taste and style. often i try to find the best price for a particular knife. eBay can also be an excellent resource. I have handled enough blades to really know what I like, which makes shopping for a knife much easier. Etsy also features some great makers, like Pacheco forge. I look forward to sharing some more fixed blade knives in the near future! Thanks for watching!

    Hey there, I have a real love for knives, and you have an amazing collection. I wish I could afford to get a good small blade. I've given you a sub because I hope you can grow your channel and in turn your collection. I'll recommend you to some people including my son (who has my old collection). Looking forward to some more videos as you seem to have very good taste..

      Thanks for your comment, Dan! I’ve bought some lackluster knives from CRKT over the years, and a few that I actually really like. The siwi looks like it can hang, but I’ve never tried it!

    QSP neckmuk has that beautiful handle and then it ruins it with that goofy kitchen knife like blade thats very ugly like its supposed to be"tactical" when needed and to scare someone if they trynna do something to you but if you pull it out they got jump you with no hesitation.

    • @edcdeeznutz
      @edcdeeznutz  ปีที่แล้ว

      The neckmuk is a modern interpretation of the nessmuk style blade, which maybe you already know. This one isn’t supposed to be pointy, or even for defense necessarily. I’d carry a smaller, swifter neck knife maybe for the purpose you’re describing. The neckmuk is a great companion blade, though! Thanks for watching, John!

      @@edcdeeznutz if its like supposed to be a small bushcrafing-edc(because nessmuk is a bushcraft knife) knife its like an ok knife , i have to say it looks like it gets your fingers a very good grip but like for self defence -scaring somebody it wouldnt be that effective but i enjoyed your video explaining those small edc knives, keep up.
