Forgot to add: If you DO want to be a review channel there’s nothing wrong with that just understand it’s VERY expensive. So if you can’t sustain that for at least a year without making any money from your channel I would not do it. Don’t think you need to do what everyone else is doing. Tabletop stuff may not work for you. Maybe you want more range type videos maybe you like finding deal at pawn shop style videos.. etc. Find YOUR style and get after it. You don’t need to do what PSR or Garand or any of these other channels are doing. They are good at what they do and if you think you can keep up or do better sure emulate them if not let them do it lol If we all did the same shit it would be pretty boring on YT lol Lastly, do what you want! It’s your channel so do what you love and want and whoever doesn’t like it oh well. It’s YOUR journey. Share it how you want. Be authentic and the rest should follow. -DK
Congrats man. 2 years ago we hit 10k subs. I expect you to be above our numbers in no time some of the stuff i’ve learned is that my background of being a videographer actually threw people a curve ball, making them think we had way better gear than we did when I started, everything for the first two years was shot with a point and shoot LX100II from panasonic… now we use my rig for it but that’s fairly recent. if you’re doing gun youtube to make “fast” or “big” money you’re in it for the wrong game at this point; and we’re actually in the process of making an ad friendly channel to make the green. if you’re doing it because you feel like you have something unique to offer, or think you can do something better or differently than the big guys I say go at it. Absolutely correct on your channel turning into a review channel; that wasn’t what we intended for our channel and that’s what we now are- EOD I still get to have fun with my friends and get better at shooting. TH-cam is 100% working against you though, I have email chains and many meetings to back this up. Three years and $180k+ of my own money invested, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Thanks man!! I keep telling people they won’t make big bucks doing this lol but hey they’ll learn. Most people won’t be consistent enough for any of our advice to matter anyway! I agree with everything you said. I had to see TH-cam messing with a buddy of mines channel to actually see that they do work against us so I’m a believer now lol Anyways bro you have a dope channel and you’re on your way to 1 mill+ appreciate you watching and commenting on my shit 🙏🏽
You typically won't have too many issues with demonetization until your channel gets to about 100k subs. Honestly, it's best to think of monetization income as extra side money and not make it part of your monthly budget. If your video get's demonetized, it will typically kill the momentum of the video's performance and the views will plummet. It's best to turn off all monetization on videos with the Yellow Ticker. This can help bring the videos back from low performance.
First off thanks for watching man! Crazy seeing you comment on my stuff been watching you for a long time Lol 🙏🏽 I agree about the extra income comment! thank you for clarifying the demonetization thing too I’m gonna turn off monetization for the yellow ones and see how that performs.
Just subbed for 2 reasons: 1) Answered the question within first 15 seconds. Which makes me want to listen. 2) not sure what you are using but the camera is clean quality! 🔥
I agree perfectly. For me personally I don’t like TH-cam rules for gun content because I am not going to follow it. So instead of me making content and complaining about their policies I just don’t create a channel. Although I will keep watching your stuff and other creators content
Thanks for this great content and it seems to be exactly what I needed to hear. I just started my channel a few months ago and so far shorts seems to be where I get a lot of views. I just subscribed. Thanks for the information.
I watch a ton of TH-cam, I’m not on any other social platform besides here at this point. I do agree with you on that no industry is never over saturated but I will say that a lot of the review channels all create the same formatted videos and that can get tiring to watch. I will say your content is refreshing, very personable and I’m sure a lot can relate that’s we’re here. Another note on this topic, the review channels are great but the masses won’t relate because they show the latest and greatest gun and that’s not realistic for the majority of the population. I’ve been grateful to have been able to acquire any toy I want but I can’t relate to the review channels, there’s no real substance. Keep up the great work bro 👊🏽
I definitely agree with your points ✅ I started my channel with such a discouragement because of what other said like Reno May. But with how things are going for me now I can personally say do it!
Great video Fam! I’ve been wanting to do one similar to this for a while. Everyone needs to see this. Especially if they are thinking about starting a channel
Excellent advice and feedback DK. Im slowly climbing that ladder bro. Its hard but I'm glad to meet some.e of the great people from the 2A community. Huge Congratulations on hitting that 10k milestone. Stay blessed and stay safe 🙏
good morning my brother, I love the channel and your stuff really inspires me to keep grinding, cause for me personally, its less for the views and more for the connections like you and Jus10W0rst and JFReview and Bobby Dynamite, to be able to talk with you guys about builds and my incredibly high speed autism, really makes me happy and gives me the FIZZ
there is pretty much no money in it, if you like doing it as a hobby then by all means. I think lighting, camera, and sound are just as important as the content.
I’ve been wanting to start a channel for awhile but it seems overwhelming with editing camera setup etc. especially when others are doing very high quality cinematography. I’d also like to make a videos on my Tacoma installs etc but it seems a lot of work managing two channels especially if you want to promote them on IG, TikTok
I was thinking of starting one after I got my first handgun to document my shooting progress, and this video pops up. I’ll take it as a sign to start lol. I also have a ruger no 1 in 458 win mag that people always ask about at the range so I might do videos on that too.
I would say Instagram is by far, the worst place to post firearms content. I'm not a guntuber but I made a goofy large 3d printable chamber flag and ANY time I post to Instagram I get no new views. I have to go into the Account Status section and ask for my piece of plastic picture to be reviewed again and removed from the "Removed Content" section. I get the flag removed usually but TH-cam is definitely still a great option, used to be better but when the rules of the game are changed, gotta pivot unfortunately.
TH-cam is a search engine. One can find any niche one needs or wants. And people do. So create the playground for your ideas and find likeminded people. Imo, the issue always comes down to greed and capitalizing. This is why channels turn into "whats most profitable from ads" regardless if those ads are serving the audiance. Theyre just siphoning ad money thats being dumped into the ecosystem. You will rearely find people with morals and principles. They are not romantic about how they make money.
Instagram is crazy with gun content. I posted one of my 300 blk pistols and listed the upgrades I did and they removed it saying I was trying to sell firearms. I didn’t have prices or direct anyone to a website for purchase. It was crazy. I do sell firearms, but I know I can’t do it on Instagram…
I want to become a gun tuber I started doing shorts a year ago and I’ve only uploaded 30 something shorts and all those combined I’ve gotten 200,000+ views and gained almost 400 subscribers in just tryna build up to 500 to 1,000 subscribers then start doing long for content
@@Uncleprepper1 you have great videos bro! I say from what I can see you gotta post more bro. Also, audio is supper important. If the music is too loud folks may not like it. So if you’re gonna do music I would keep it super low and then ensure the audio is crisp. Other than that man you have a dope channel just post more! 🙏🏽

Giving you a sub just for putting out intellectual content. Keep doing your thing man !

If we’re talking ad sense I make roughly between $450-$700 a month. Roughly. Usually it’s between one of those two depending on how much I post
