- Welcome to Garage Denali! In this video, I review the 8th generation Honda Accord in coupe form. This car also features a 5 speed manual transmission. The 8th generation Honda Accord Coupe was first introduced in 2008 and ran until 2012. There was a facelift/refresh in 2011.
Check out my channel for other videos!
Best looking Honda Accord ever.
i know right it looks so good better than honda accord the honda accord coupe looks very very awesome
i jus got one yesterday 2010 ❤
I have this in the coupe v6 6 speed manual sliver. It only has 38,000 miles. I never had the check engine light ever come on and I bought it when it was 1 year old.
@@6speed818 thankfully its stick not auto cuz hondas v6 and auto always have issue
@@ekginsengAnd still I love my V6 Auto. The problems I have with the car came from previous owners, two of them, that most likely never got the issues resolved. I am the first to take it to 100k miles so I needed to replace spark plugs. Also I have to get a new belt soon, fix the suspension, and AC because I just got hit by another vehicle, and she will run new ish for me.
So yeah, my problems stems from partial poor care before my ownership. Car was hit multiple times on the right side. Seemingly both owners given up on it after having to get it repaired.
Just got an '09 coupe, white, same interior as this car, 4 cylinder auto in July of '23.
123k miles, 8500 bux.
Love it.
6'1", head touches in the rear seats, if that matters to ya.
To me it's such a perfect car. Looks are great, size; the interior is excellent, everything just works as far as looks, comfort and size goes on the interior.
Highly recommended
Nice one
What about MPG/Fuel Economy?
@ugoh2058 Crap. Might need a tune up. 22mpg overall
Yo do u ever replace the timing belts or it already was
I wish I got this car in manual. I had a 1991 Camry that I drove thru high school, then I got this car a few months back. I love it.
Thanks for the review. I own this car and didn’t really know too much about it. This vid was helpful. Also, the speakers in this car rock! Better than most speakers I’ve heard in newer cars
Would you recommend it still now? And how much did you get yours?
I downgrade from 07 Acura RDX to 2011 Accord Coupe EX-L..... gotta say Accord could use audio system upgrade though.
Plus, loud bass you will hear some vibration from the plastic mouldings which later i eliminate using noise absorption mats.
Still love this car compared to my RDX tho
@@bensadikin9513 where'd you place the mats exactly? Im having the same issue
how nice is the bass? i’m a teen looking for this type of car but music and especially bass is very important to me😂
@@DavidPerez-Lopez The EX-L whihc is what I have comes with a small subwoofer in the trunk and it gotta say it pounds pretty good lol. Test one out if you can before buying. Good Luck!
This is the last bullet proof honda accord I own a 2011 Accord coupe v6 6spd with 204k running like a beast
Have u changed the timing belts and what other replacements have be made at 204k miles
This is something I need; I have been looking more into the Honda Coupes as I am more about sporty vehicles.
I had a 2008 5 speed manual coupe and it was my favorite car I ever owned. Got rear ended by a kid in a Saturn and it was deemed a total loss . It’s sporty/engaging to drive, it’s relatively fuel efficient, double wishbone front suspension so it handles well, the seats fold down for additional cargo,FWD setup coupled with a good set of tires and snow is no problem. and it’s pretty solid mechanically. Moral of the story is, get one. 4 cylinder or 6 doesn’t really matter in my opinion they’re both fun daily drivers.
Update, just bought a 2012 Accord Coupe EX again yesterday. 86k miles 5 speed manual, premium audio, and sunroof. Plan on keeping this one far away from teenage drivers in Saturns
Bought a 2011 EX-L last fall. A nice upgrade to my 1996 Civic EX and the 1987 Prelude Si I had before that. (All 3 are coupes w/manual transmission. Will hate to see that disappear someday.)
Nice. Honda engines are the best. With the exception of some of them.
Just bought the 09 Accord Coupe 4 cyl with 186,000 miles for $3,400 as a side car. Immediately did a high mileage oil change. Hope it lasts me a year. Love it.
I will buy that as soon as you're done with it
@@SydneyChromatic five months later it’s running even better now. Honda is unbelievable.
@@chrisexperience7 i have a v6 Automatic with 180,000 already put 1300 on it never had any isues and it starts good. did brake fluid oil and transmission oil, runs good
@@chrisexperience7 how's it run now?
@@diaper0007 a year later and still running strong. I did replace a motor Mount at the Honda dealership. Only cost me $290. Engine still in top shape.
Tried equalizing the volume in your video?
You don't know what it's like, to love this Honda the way it loves you....
i have a 2012 Accord Coupe EX-L V6 Automatic No Navigation GT got it with 180,000 in october, now i put 1300 on it and it runs great and its in great condition. sound is very good too especially for a 2012.
Greeting hope all is well. How's it holding up.
@@LXRD-SUPREME- I've had zero problems with the car since I got it. I did have to replace the valve cover gasket like two months after purchasing it, but that was a problem that likely was there when I bought it and I didn't know. Basically normal maintenance by 180,000 miles. I'm currently at 182,500 miles and I've done nothing but one oil change after a year. I just purchased a 2015 Honda Crosstour (built on the 8th gen Accord platform) and it also runs great. the 8th gen Honda Accord platform is one of if not the most reliable Hondas or vehicles overall that you can buy.
@@LamoidZombieDog Wow That's amazing. I'm planning on getting a 2009 accord coupe soon. Thanks for responding I really appreciate it. Have a good night. Also is the 4 cylinder reliable just as well ?
@@LXRD-SUPREME- yes the k24 is also super reliable. I'd say the j35 is a little more reliable and bulletproof to abuse, but the k24 is very reliable as well. I think it's the 2008 and 2009 i4 accord that has the extra oil burning so check for that.
@@LamoidZombieDog ok once again thank you for this important information. Take care .
Buying a 4 banger, 5 speed manual with 90k miles for 6 grand...hope its a good deal
Howd you end up liking it?
Like it?
@@eytsx it was alright, I didn't have it long
@@Jesus-warrior would you recommend it at all? I want to pick up this same model for my first manual daily. It seems like a good option
@@zexi0n it's a great car yes
I own 2011 v6.... love it
just bought an ‘12 2.4 k24 automatic at 116k now at 136k….no issues love it
Awesome review!! Love the details
Just picked up a 2012 EX-L V6 HFP coupe in charcoal gray about a month ago to use as my daily and I absolutely love this car and my girl loves it too 💯
I have one as well, love it too
The manual does not have variable cylinder management system.
I'm about to get a 2012 Honda Accord Exl v6 Automatic Coupe with navigation with 87k miles for $5K. I'm excited.
That’s a great deal. Make sure to ask if the timing belt has been done
I like my music loud enough to drown out my thoughts. Wind noise doesn’t matter much to me.
I have one with 117k miles with no issues. And my friend's has 190k miles with no issues
Have you or your friend done anything regarding the VTC actuator?
@@garagedenali Me personally, no. But not sure about my friend. We never had any issues. The work I have done, has been installing mods, like a cold air intake, wheels, coilovers, and other little mods
I have the Actuator issue, and actually have the replacement part. The guy I bought the car from gave it to me with the car. After conducting my own research I decided I’m not in a rush to fix it because it hasn’t really affected anything. Just the cold start issue
@@JustCordell cold start issue? I never had any issues so o feel bad for you. But then again a lot of people do abuse their cars (Not talking about you).
It’s a popular issue on these cars the VTC Actuator issue. It’s what causes the noise on cold starts. But as far as I can tell that’s the only drawback. I read on a forum some guys have replaced the Actuator several times and the issue always comes back
About to buy a 2010 ex with 160k miles for $5k, I hope this will be a good purchase.
I think you can talk them down a bit more
Hey I’m about to get one for my first car how was your experience with the car?
The best coupe drives excellent love it have a 2012
The 6 cylinder has a timing belt which is an added substantial maintenance penalty...all that money saved will buy alot of gas for the 4 cylinder timing chain motor. 🤔
A timing belt should get changed around every 60,000 miles and will cost $600. A timing chain should be changed around every 80,000 miles and will cost about $500 (at the dealership) + Hondas timing belts have been known to last as long as 160,000 miles. If you were really concerned with saving gas the best way to do so is watching your rpm and speed instead of buying a slower car. The V6 has VCM which will shut down 3/6 cylinders during city driving
@@TheFreekill17 there is so much wrong with this statement. J series V6 timing belt is 105k miles or 7 years whichever comes first. The timing chain on the K series does not have a service life of 80K. The V6 in the manual eliminates VCM so no cylinder deactivation.
@@stevenreff2513 hate to say that your 100 percent right
Thanks for the upload.
Much appreciated.
Blessed 🙏🤙
Try and find a HFP accord 2012 they are the best cars I've ever driven. It will do 200kph for hours and hours. Takes 2 hours for the car to properly warm up. From experience.
I've done 210kph with my '12, but it's an EX manual. Doesn't take 2 hrs. to properly warm up, only about 5 mins.
2hours??? Haha
Got a 09 ex-l V6 coupe sliver with black interior in Sep of 23. For the manual models you don't get cylinder deactivation as I have a empty space where the green eco button would be. 24mpg on the highway so far going 75mph. (but love the power and feel) 6'6 fit really well but I definitely wont be using the back seats lol. No Bluetooth for non navigation models :(
Nice car! Bluetooth is something that can be retrofitted though
Thank you,i decided to buy one
I'm buying an 09 v6 6speed manual tomorrow..black on black ...
Nice car, you're going to enjoy it. Be sure you have receipts for the timing belt & clutch
I’m gonna look at an 08 v6 with 45000 miles
I am wondering if the “runs on 3 cylinders” thing is true of the V6 with 6 speed or is that only on Automatics? Thanks for video
Only on the automatics
Just picked up a 2011 accord coupe v6 6spd
Nice! Enjoy it
Mine is the 8.5 gen and 9.5 gen 17 touring coupe
Question from year did they started the gm cylinder deactivation on the v6 coupes ??
I want to get a v6 but i want to get it w the cylinder deactivation
The cylinder deactivation only applies to the automatics. The best Accord to get from the perspectives of reliability and fun factor is the V6 manual
The eco mode turns on on its own ? Or does it have a switch for a 2011 v6 coupe ?
It turns on on its own
great vid dawg👍🏼
I’m looking into a 2010 Honda accord coupe EXL four-cylinder at 32K! In your opinion would you recommend me getting it? I’ll be buying it possibly from Carmax and I know they offer the max care warranty.
Yes I got one 5 speed
Carmax gouges
hi, does the 2008 accord coupe 2.4l come with fog lights?
The EX-L trim comes with leather and fog lights
My 2007 Accord coupe ex-l was much nicer. My 2012 ex-l does have Bluetooth and higher power sound system, but 2007 sounded much richer. 2012 has much cheaper interior plastic. Honda took out night lighting standard on 2007. Seats are now harder and not for long roads trips. Miss the larger trunk witch was flat in 2007. 2012 nice but Honda went very cheap. Also why the tacky silver trim, just looks cheap.
2013 is when Honda went cheap. Garbage sound system in my 2015 vs my 2012. Interior is still okay but after that they continued to get worse and got rid of the k24/j35 and got unreliable.
How much horsepower is there on the 2008 Honda V6 2 dr Coupe EX-L (Automatic)? Thank you
The V6 makes 270bhp
@@garagedenali Ah ok thank you brother
Thank you, from the future
Nice car
How much is fuel conscumption city ?highway? Km/l
22/31
Great car great price
Is one of these worth $4500 with 200k on the dash? 4cyl ex clothe seats
You could probably get it cheaper considering its mileage. What kind of condition is the body in? Does the car overall look like it has 200K miles? What was its maintenance history like?
@@garagedenali based on the pics, the paint looks above average, no dings shown. Interior looks average, clothe seats aren't torn but the color seems a bit faded.. Bolsters seem a little warn. I honestly think this car is a $3000 at best car but seller said he's firm.
I'm gonna see if it sits long enough
You can always go and check out the car. See if there are any maintenance records the seller can provide. We are in a seller's market
@@garagedenali true
You fit in the back... you didn't need to repeat yourself with saying 5'9" hah
But forreal, its sub 6' only back there. And reviewing a 4 pot model Y I K E S
The V6 has a 6 speed with 5 and 6 on overdrive gearing. V6 MT has NO VCM. VCM will cause you to need a rebuild on the engine by 150k if not a bit sooner. There is a rare black on black interior which is much nicer with the San Marino Red.
The Accord 6-6 is not a sports car in the sense it's dedicated to driving as fast as possible on the "limit". It's a GT car. You can be comfy driving cross country or just to work and back, and it is still fast enough.
Black Interior is rate with San Marino Red? It took me months to find my brand new 2008 6/6 Accord in Red. The car was sitting in the showroom and I took it home on my test drive and bought it ASAP. 13 years later, it has 40,000 miles on her and so, so well looked after.
how would the ride compare to the 2012 ex or exl sedan?
I would imagine the sedan has a slightly more comfortable ride since it has a few more inches in the wheelbase compared to the coupe
@@garagedenali - thanks. was thinking that as well. i like the coupe styling much better but they are a little difficult to find.
sküll düggery they are harder to find. I’d look for a V6 EX-L 6MT if I were you
@@garagedenali - i was gonna avoid the V6 but now ya got me a thinkin'...lol
The manual V6 doesn't have the oil consumption & VTC actuator issues the 4 cylinder has nor the VCM oil consumption issues the auto V6s have. You won't regret the manual
Have a guy selling me one for 8.3k. It’s a Coupe as well and a V4. Also has 99k miles and leather seats. Is it worth the money
What year? Auto or manual? Any damage? I think you can get it for less
@@garagedenali 2008, Manual and a Clean Title. Thanks for responding 🤝
I say you can probably get it for closer to 7 grand
@@albertreyes3812 it’s a good deal I bought mine for the same price take care of her and she will treat you right
I have a v6 coupe manual, it only gets 1 mpg worse than the automatic which has cylinder deactivation. Not worth the reliability problems.
It's a nice car
I just picked up a manual EX-L. Such a good car! Love how big it is for a coupe.
Agreed and why I deactivated VCM on my automatic! That switching from 3 to 6 cylinders just beats on motor mounts and causes other wear and tear… after doing that my 2010 coupe is much more responsive and Will live longer IMO as a result. Only @53k and a great ride.
Get a manual, you don't lose any horsepower becsuse your not needing power to operate your automatic, you don't need transmission fluid and only $800 to fix a manual transmission vs automatic transmission is over $2000.
Also manual had alot better gas mileage
Agreed, but I spent about $1,900 doing the clutch on mine
@@garagedenali also if anyone prefers an automatic or a standard. It's perfectly fine, it's just preference
