    Eyyyy more 8th gen Accord content! Can confirm that this is a solid car and would be a great purchase as it's reliable and still looks pretty modern. Just rolled passed 170000 miles (roughly 273600km) on mine, no major issues since having owned by me/my family for the past 13 years. The car will last you a long time if you take care of it!

      @@soanxious44 hmm, that's something that I haven't come across (yet) on mine. I do have some very minor/tiny rust spots about the size of a grain of rice from regular wear and tear, and I'm surprised it's not worse considering the roads where I'm at get salted heavily when it snows lol

      I just got a 2012 Accord EX-L with the 2.4L i4. It has 121K miles (approx 190K km). Because I don’t know the maintenance history, replacing in the tires, spark plugs, engine flush, PCV valve, and a fuel system treatment, along with an OBDll scan and general inspection. I need this car to last me another 3 years til retirement. From everything you’ve said in this video, I believe I’ve made a wise choice.

    I have the same car. 2009 honda accord ex-l 4 cylinder. Never had a major problem other than wear and tear. I bought it brand new with 7 miles on it and now have 190,000 miles on it. Still drives perfectly. Sadly I need a new ABS modulator. I'm hoping I can buy a used modulator. Only other thing I've noticed is that the paint on the hood of the car started showing mini cracks at around 150K miles. I'm keeping it till the wheels fall off.

    i bought a 2010 honda accord lx brandnew from the dealership here in california. i racked in 235,000 miles so far and still going. transmission and motor is still okay, this model of accord have a timing chain so i have not replace that. i did have a wheel bearing issue and had that fix other than that i stick with the maintenance and preventive maintenance on it and it still taking me from point a to point b. i do all the work to my car so its also a plus for me iam saving quiet a bit more on the labor cost. proud of my slow accord.

    Have a 21 Accord but my daily driver is 2012 Accord. Bought last year w/ 130k mikes. Although the new one has a lot of new technology, there’s nothing like the old school feeling of older Hondas. The classic starter sound & the double wishbone suspension that was last on this model. Handles & steers so well. The nice clear gauges & simple layout of the controls. No extra electronics that tried to drive for you. Will need to watch your original video. Glad you reviewed this model again. Awesome.

    I've been driving a 2008 ex-l v6 coupe for about 5 years now, it's up to 92k miles. Never had any problems except the key broke once. They said I had too many keys on my ring. Other than that and a set of tires and a battery, all I've spent on it is for gas and oil changes. I'm looking to move up to a Tahoe or Sequoia pretty soon but I really don't want to get rid of this car. Probably keep it for a spare.

    The new Accords are ugly to me; especially the rear third....looks bloaded and the taillight design is whack. Your generation was the most cleanly and classically styled. And shout out to you for still keeping the vehicle; I cringe when I see some of the TH-cam reviewers kind of flex on the cars they drive as their personal vehicles, and seem to get new ones every six months ("I was tired of my Corvette, so to give myself credibility, I purchased ".

      Fair bro! Hopefully the new gen of accords are fine tuned.

      @@ObsessedAutoReviews keep your eyes on the prize man! In college, I worked full time and rolled in a BASIC '99 Jetta with a front bumper duct-taped on one side because I got it lodged on a parking lot curb thing. I graduated with zero student loans. A few years ago when I changed careers, instead of going back to school, I learned to code on TH-cam for free. I can't lie- I live pretty phat life with no student loans haha. Hope that's some encouragement from a random person to stay away from student loans if you can!

    I remember when the 8th gen first came out, at the time I thought it was the sexiest Honda Accord ever designed. My oh my have times have changed. Its so sad how the current 10th Gen did not sell as much as previous generation Accords because it deserved to.

    • @yiyoink
      @yiyoink 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought the same. And the standard features it had when it came out was pretty incredible. But most people didn't like it at the time. They felt it got too big compared to the 7th gen. It was bigger and when considering all the dimensions it was already classified as a full sized sedan rather than the midsized segment the model is known for.. Which is why the 9th gen shrank a bit.

    • @ObsessedAutoReviews

    Pretty decent car, I was able to score one for cheap ($800) +$200 for wheel bearing. Seller had it forever, replaced it with something brand new, and simply wanted it gone.
    Its been a great car for the price I paid, slightly dented up passenger fender (not sure why, rest of body is good), and the previously mentioned wheel bearing. I guess I also had to replace all the brake pads but normal maintenance more than anything.
    I was very happy to get the car, it had 200k miles at the time, but it ran well, and it has consist pressure across all the cylinders. I was able to sell my old car (frankly worth far less) and I profited off it in the long run.
    It actually had pretty poor gas mileage for what it was (21 highway). I've mostly sorted that out by replacing the spark plugs (I believe they where factory) along with a few tanks with fuel system cleaner.
    That brought it up to 26, still not rated, but nearly 100 extra miles per tank is nothing to complain about. The VTT also does make the start up noise as well, but from my understand that is very common.

    • @ObsessedAutoReviews
      @ObsessedAutoReviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is common, common Honda thing too I would say. Mine had it and recently my mom's crv is doing the same. But after I replaced it, it's been smooth ever since.
      Mine burns oil, common as well unfortunately, so I would recommend topping up oil or checking every couple tanks of gas. I might need to do a fuel system clean as well cause that sounds amazing, especially with current gas prices 🤔

      @GainingDespair ปีที่แล้ว

      @@avdan285 I've heard of it, from what I know it only effected a few thousand, not a insignificant amount, but you can check by VIN to see if the vehicle is effected.
      The issue was the piston rings, they all have a gap in them to place them around the piston, there is 3 rings total, and for a bit there was an error installing them. The gap between all 3 rings where in line with each other, this allowed some oil to make of straight past all them.
      Really any other way would have been fine but it caused a sealing issue which made the oil control ring ineffective.

    Awesome review. A few hours ago I bought a 2009 Accord Sedan EX-L V6 with 170 000KM, remote starter installed, black leather interior for 4700$CAD. It was posted on marketplace for 2mins and the guy had over 20 messages. I was the first one to show up to his house. Was it a good deal/steal ? For the year it came out it was great. Stop complaining about the little things. If you want Bluetooth (like I got) go to your local Walmart and get you a Bluetooth adapter, it’s only $15-$20. Then get you a monitor and have it installed, it comes with a backup camera, music radio, it tracks your speed, it has Bluetooth, gps navigation, and more and most are less than $200. Buying stuff for your car is better than getting what you want and having to pay an extra thousand 🤦🏾‍♂️
      The things that I listed is what I brought for my car. My adapter was $20, my monitor was $149, and I got a entire steering wheel cover set for $49.99.

    • @ObsessedAutoReviews

      I personally haven't had many issues and have owned the 4 Cylinder version of this car for about 4 years now. Powersteering is whiny but I've read that it's normal. The transmission overall has smooth-ish shifts but has some minor rough ones here and there but nothing crazy.
      Be sure to see if the person has maintenance history (they can actually prove with receipts) and always get a private inspection done by a mechanic you trust, you can also read some owner forums and get other people's opinions to help make a good decision.

      The 4 Cylinder has a timing chain, the v6 will have a timing belt.
      I personally haven't had many issues other than maintenance. I do oil changes every 5k km with synthetic oil, make sure I get the b service every other service and I keep upto date with anything that comes up.
      The vtc actuator (I think that's what it's called, sorry I forgot) makes a weird noise on cold starts, it seems common. Powersteering can be a little whiny at low parking lot speeds but it's normal.

    So much conflicting information, depending on your source. Many review sites say to stay away from this model year, for a variety of reasons. Oil consumption, uncomfortable seats, transmission issues, brakes wearing out easily, etc. Several sources say the 2009 Accord is an absolute clunker.
    Then you have vids like this, and a host of comments saying otherwise, so I don't know what to think.
    My general rule of thumb is to take everything with a grain of salt, but also to go with a general consensus, which in this case doesn't bode well for this car.

    • @ObsessedAutoReviews
      @ObsessedAutoReviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I've owned the car for 5 years now, seats can be uncomfortable for longer drives but not the worst.
      Engine does consume/burn oil but not drastically in mine at least.
      I've had zero transmission issues so far, knock on wood!
      Once again my breaks last the average amount, I typically use Honda parts
      And overall I've had no major, expensive issues. But I'm sure other people's experiences are valid as well and it really depends on the previous owner and how they treated the car!
