He didn't have to loosen cam sprocket, just paint mark the belt to the sprocket at the crank, cam, and pump. Heck, you dont' even need to be at TDC for that matter. as far as pump sprocket alignment during reassembly, take a picture with the alignment pin in place and put it right back in position.

How did the sprocket on the end of the camshaft come off? The 22 mm just spins the injection pump and nothing happens

I read if you take pulley off pump that a shop must recalibrate it because its set at factory and no pulley key???

Only if you remove the hub. Don’t remove the hub!

You should not have loosened the cam pully gear , instead remove the belt tensioner to give you enough slack in the cambelt to work with ease .

I did that but it seems it's still got a bolt in it still it's hard to move

    Why loosen the cam pulley?

This is not the way to do this will lead to engine damage the valve in this engine can be damaged with the lightest impact will lead to valve head breaking off later

How so? These alh engines can take abuse and not once there an "impact" anywhere near the valve train. Taking the valve cover off to see the position of the crankshaft doesnt hurt anything. If anything, not taking the valve cover off could lead to possibly having the timing be off at most.

This is a very hacky way of doing it, but it works. If you have the tools to lock the cam in place, I would 100% recommend using it. If you don't have the tools, you can try to do it this way.
