You really should use lightweight tuners on broncos as they often have very light bodies and heavier tuners can cause a lot of neck dive, for instance one of my broncos only weighed 6.2 lbs stock. I love the roadworn fnish you gave it looks really smooth and tactile. You can also redrill the bridge for 4 saddles for better intonation , I use 17mm saddles from a 5 string bridges as a donor:)
Nice work I hear you about learning to stop I have put way too much time in to mine . I have spent more money on new parts for mine than the bass was .

The Bronco came with a cheapo ceramic magnet Strat type pickup. Genuine USA Fenders have Alnico magnet/polepieces.
It looks nice, could you please clarify what you mean by "applied an amber" to the pickguard? Was it shellac?
