My mom used to love thrifting at what she called “Macy’s” which was actually Goodwill. A few years ago she bought my stepdad a suit for church, the pockets were still sewn down for $10.00. When she got it home and pulled the thread out so my stepdad could use the pockets, she found that one of them had part of the thread taken out and $10.00 was in it. She had small feet and one time she found 5 different colours of the same style shoe in her size for $3.00 a pair. She bought the works of them for church wear. After her funeral in 2015, I went there to find out why she loved it so much. There was tons of designer clothes for next to nothing that definitely did not fit me. It was then that I understood why she went there so often. Seeing you with your mil makes me wish I could’ve worked a little less and travelled a little more to spend time with her. It was so much fun going shopping without leaving home! You’re so lucky to have a mom and mother-in-law who are able to go out with you. Your MIL looks not much older than you! It was good to see you away from your kitchen and having a good time, because I feel like you’re always working.

The one and only time that I went to the Goodwill bins, I once got an amazing black umbrella with a wooden handle that had one broken spoke and inside was a lifetime warranty and it was made in Portland, Oregon, so I wrote the company and they paid shipping, so I sent it to them and they fixed it, cleaned it and sent it back! They sold these umbrellas for $60 or more and I only paid 25 cents! Best umbrella that I’ve ever had!

You can also use the soil bin as a mini greenhouse while germinating some seeds. So awesome that you have a good relationship with your mother-in-law. I do too and it is rare!

First time you were on my TH-cam feed. You have a beautiful smile! Watched 5 videos and subscribed. I'm 79 and live in the western panhandle of Florida. Your mom and mother-in-law both seem to have a great sense of humor; as you do.
I brought out my tiny breadmaker and tried a recipe. My daughter said that the loaf was good but too small. I told her I would get a bigger one if I used this a couple times. But, I figured out that I didn't use it because it was too small. So, I decided to check the local thrift store for a bigger breadmaker. And got a 2lb maker and a coffee grinder for less than $20 total. Thrift stores are fun! Oh, and the third loaf in the bigger breadmaker is almost done, and it smells delicious!
I prefer to shop on Sunny days. I don't like to have to go through the rain from place to place. You have an Amazing Mother-in-law. You are so Blessed.

I definetly would love to go with you on your next shopping trip. I love going to flea markets, garage & yard sales, antiquing, whatever they call it I love. The old adage "One man's junk is another man's treasure" is so true. FYI: Be sure to look at any painting you want to purchase that someone has painted. A lady found a painting she liked, brought it & took it out of the frame to reframe it & discovered it was a PICASSO! Her $2 purchase netted her 6 figures. Amazing & true. 🙋♀️👍💜
The idea of having a measuring cup in every item of dried goods is sooo good. I have a dl (deciliter) one in all of mine. I am pretty minimalistic with most things but that is such a good thing to have load of.

Even though I don't need any more every time I see stainless-steel measuring cups and measuring spoons at a thrift store I grab them!
Those silicone egg molds are great! You can make those Starbucks egg bites in them they are more healthy and more affordable too when you make them at home. I like to make meatloaf in my silicone egg bite molds and then freeze them.

So far my treasures I’ve found there are an Artisan KitchenAid 5 qt stand mixer, (red), Presto 23 qt pressure canner and a 921 Vintage ALL AMERICAN canner! Woot! My 12 yo son had that exact same blue quilted coat!! I thrifted it when he had it. :-) I loved it because it was warm, yet thin enough to get a secure fit in the carseat.
Ticking fabric is what my mother made bed pillows from, we saved the feathers when she butchered poultry to stuff them. Wow that was a memory I had not thought of in years.
You found so many great things! Those aprons are so cute! The bowls and the cooking pot and the prize find- the tricycle! So many cute finds! I love thrifting and finding all the treasures! I once found a beautiful Waterford Crystal bowl in perfect condition for 75 cents!
You mentioned wanting a wood bowl to make bread... At Rusty Glamor, you passed by a medium size bread trough. It was displayed near the entrance. It's a great great way to mix up, proof & knead bread.

Have you looked up what it might sell for? It looks vintage! The blue silicone mold can also be used to make little toddler sized popsicles for the grandkids! SUPER great deal on the trike! I wish that not only I got along with my mother in law as well as you do, but I wish mine would take me shopping. My MIL is one who shops just about daily, but alas has never once (in 22 years) invited me. Measuring scoops in your bins is nice. I have ones in my main bins and it has been a game changer. Keep in mind with the apron, it is super easy to sew pockets onto them, so you could always go and add a pocket with say a matching color to the floral one you got (a washcloth would even work as something to wipe your hands with and service as a pocket) plus the floral one is a super easy design to follow as well. That trike! Oh my goodness that was an amazing bargain. Those sell for £40 minimum in the Uk and that’s for a beat up one. Such an amazing find. The black apron was stunning to. Might have to see if I can make up a pattern for one myself. Looked like a cute dress.

Your Goodwills and thrift stores you shop at are HUGE. The ones around me are so small! I'm jealous! I was in the Goodwill closest to me yesterday and there were only 10 shelves of "stuff", the rest is clothes.

Hi Becky, love to channel. I am in the UK. Those weren't shot glasses those were egg cups. In Europe you soft boil an egg so that the white is all cooked but the yolk is still runny, stand it in an egg cup, then cut off the top so you can dip toast strips in it. In the UK it's called boiled eggs with soldiers and it is just the best.
By the way I am completely amazed by how much you have learned about plants and gardening in such a short time. Clearly you have an excellent memory.

That 1st apron, with the flowers on it, is a really easy pattern to make too. I have made many of that style for children's sun dresses.

I just started canning and yes it's addictive yet very relaxing and therapeutic.
My Daughter In Law and I have our shopping rituals as well. We reward ourselves with TJMaxx & Homegoods for going grocery shopping at Costco. LOL Makes the trip so much easier knowing we are "shopping" for fun stuff.
The really cool thing about the tricycle is that I had one just like that in the early 70s I was probably about 4 years old. I couldn't remember what ever happened to it then I remember I sold it to my best friend for his new baby sister. I think I sold it for 5 bucks and I think I got in big trouble for doing it. For some reason I use to flip it over and spin the main wheel while I pretended that I was making home made ice cream. Gosh what an imagination I had back then LOL

you're so lucky having those huge thrift stores in driving distance! there's nothing really like that in the UK, we just have really small thrift shops that we call charity shops. That trike was a steal!!

@@AcreHomestead add pockets to your apron request. I had my late mom make me an apron right after I built my house, and have been collecting aprons from where I travel to. But moms is my most precious.
That was a very good price for that tricycle although it is newer that’s perfect because those things run anywhere from $60-$100 in some areas and that’s brand new in the box

My 16 qt Rival roaster from Goodwill was $9.99. That tricycle is in great shape. Looks brand new. She can order a new lid for the LeCruset if needed. I love the relationship you have with your MIL. Nothing cuter than little Carhart's, flannel shirt and little boots. I grew up with the spritzer. Used to love the tree, wreath and deer. Love the new fabric and new apron. I haven't seen any crossback aprons near me. You (or mom) can always put a pocket on the other apron. Gotta have pockets. Blessings
